The material and the spiritual are two sides of social life. In the process of development, if the economy is considered as the material foundation of society, meeting material needs, then culture is the spiritual foundation of society, meeting the spiritual needs of people and society. It is not possible to develop stably and sustainably if only focusing on economic growth but neglecting or even sacrificing culture. The development of each country, economy and culture are interrelated, in which culture covers all aspects of social activities; not only govern influence, but also have the ability to regulate the development of society. Currently, the fourth industrial revolution has had a profound impact on all areas of socio-economic life in Vietnam, including culture. In order to take advantage of opportunities and minimize negative impacts, countries need to assess the impact of this revolution comprehensively, including the impact on culture, thereby reorienting development strategies, focusing on investing in science and technology, and at the same time having policies to preserve and promote national cultural values ??is one of the most important tasks of the current Vietnamese revolution.

The consequences of foreign direct investment (FDI) for human rights protection are poorly understood. We propose that the impact of FDI varies across industries. In particular, extractive firms in the oil and mining industries go where the resources are located and are bound to such investment, which creates a status quo bias among them when it comes to supporting repressive rulers (“ location-bound effect”). The same is not true for nonextractive multinational corporations (MNCs) in manufacturing or services, which can, in comparison, exit problematic countries more easily. We also propose that strong democratic institutions can alleviate negative impacts of extractive FDI on human rights (“ democratic safeguard effect”). Using U.S. FDI broken up into extractive and nonextractive industries in 157 host countries (1999–2015), we find support for these propositions.1 Extractive FDI is associated with more human rights abuse, but nonextractive FDI is associated with less abuse, after controlling for other factors, including concerns about endogeneity. We find also that the negative human rights impact of extractive FDI vanishes in countries where democratic institutions are stronger. Our results are robust to a range of alternative estimation techniques.

The exponential advancement in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, robotics, and automation are rapidly transforming industries and societies across the world. The way we work, the way we live, and the way we interact with others are expected to be transformed at a speed and scale beyond anything we have observed in human history. This new industrial revolution is expected, on one hand, to enhance and improve our lives and societies. On the other hand, it has the potential to cause major upheavals in our way of life and our societal norms. The window of opportunity to understand the impact of these technologies and to preempt their negative effects is closing rapidly. Humanity needs to be proactive, rather than reactive, in managing this new industrial revolution. This article looks at the promises, challenges, and future research directions of these transformative technologies. Not only are the technological aspects investigated, but behavioral, societal, policy, and governance issues are reviewed as well. This research contributes to the ongoing discussions and debates about AI, automation, machine learning, and robotics. It is hoped that this article will heighten awareness of the importance of understanding these disruptive technologies as a basis for formulating policies and regulations that can maximize the benefits of these advancements for humanity and, at the same time, curtail potential dangers and negative impacts.

Title: The Impact of the Cement Industry to the Livelihood System of Bayah Fishers The existence of cement industry in Bayah Sub-district is like two sides of the same coin, it has a positive and negative impacts for the surrounding community, especially on the livelihood of Bayah fishers. This study aims to describe the livelihood conditions of fishers before and after the cement industry exists in their village as well as to identify adaptation strategies to ensure the sustainability of fishers livelihoods. The study used descriptive qualitative method involving fishers as the key informant. Data were collected through questionnaires, in-depth interviews, FGD, and field observations. Results showed that the existence of cement industry (PT. Cemindo Gemilang) in Bayah Sub-district brought about a series of change toward ecological and socio-economic life of the fishers. Ecological change led to shifting of catchment areas, changes in the availability of fisheries product as their major capital, increased costs of access to resources, and implications toward household incomes. Uncertainty of income was frequently solved by varying livelihoods, and it was one of strategies that has been implemented by Bayah fishers even before the cement industry exists. However, the existence of cement industry has created job opportunity in non-fishery sector such as factory workers and dock porters. Adaptation strategies to ensure the sustainability of their livelihood are: diversification of sources of income, diversification of fishing gear, relocation of fishing area and empowerment of social relationship.

This research covers an analysis of the essential aspects involving the Fourth Industrial Revolution, disruptive technologies and their consequences on work relations. Using literature reviews, analysing cases of companies that failed and others that remodeled themselves to survive the yearnings of the technological age, it was possible to obtain important results. The research was conducted in three parts: 1. historical contextualization guiding the reader on the main aspects and peculiarities of the Fourth Industrial Revolution; 2. definition, application and some examples of disruptive technologies; 3. confirmation of the impact of these technologies on work relations. The methods used were: hermeneutics, privileging theoretical studies and analysis of documents and texts and the deductive method, starting from existing laws and theories for the development of a logical reasoning to explain the central problem. Negative impacts of mass unemployment due to the replacement of human labor by highly technological machines cannot be stimated. These machines are part of what has been called disruptive technology, i.e., a product or innovative servant destabilizes competition, overcoming it in such a way that it promotes the rupture of existing models, ruining them. Professionals will be called to fill new jobs, with skills and competencies for Industry 4.0, whose interaction between man and machine will be essential. Use of big data in quality control, robots, fully automated vehicles, 3D printers in production lines, among other activities are examples of work demands.
