The changes in the family as the social institution that are described as the second demographic transition revealed the reality of new social links, affected the selection of the strategies and methods of family establishment and led to the family de-institutionalization processes. The changes had also affected the status of formal and informal roles in the family. Those changes catalyzed the greater variety of families and households which can be illustrated by the spread of cohabitation and the increased numbers of children born outside the traditional marriage. The above changes demonstrate the conscious choices to family relationship building. Present research paper aims to find out how does the human happiness which is mostly described by a subjective well-being index depend on the family status.

Background and Purpose: Understanding factors which affect the level of family well-being is important as it contributes to effective decision making among the policymakers to improve the family lives as well as to strengthen the family institution. Accordingly, this line of research is gaining attention. This study develops an ordinal regression model which identifies demographic, economic and social factors that are significant in explaining the status of family well-being.    Methodology: Data involving 2,808 respondents from a nationwide survey conducted by the National Population and Family Development Board of Malaysia in 2011 were used in this study. Ordinal regression model was implemented to describe the three levels of family well-being.   Findings: The national survey reported that high level of family well-being was experienced by 76.3 per cent of the respondents, followed by moderate (18.4%) and low (5.3%). The fitted ordinal regression model found that ethnic background, family relationship, community relationship, health and safety levels, economic situation of the family, religious practice, housing, and environment are significantly related to family well-being. Meanwhile, it was found that the level of income is not a significant factor in determining the level of family well-being.     Contributions: There are a limited number of studies on the application of ordinal regression for modelling the level of family well-being, particularly with covariates involving the demographic and social characteristics of the respondents. This study fills in the gap in the literature where the ordinal regression model provides useful information for policymakers to enhance the status of family well-being in Malaysia via various policy initiatives.   Keywords: Family well-being, Ordinal Regression Model, ordinal data, Proportional Odds Model.   Cite as: Muhammad Sapri, N. Educational system is the most important social institution, which provides the development of a personality and frames his/her worldview and the conception of subjective well-being. Despite the large number of studies on the issue of psychological and pedagogical security of educational environment, the sphere of higher education still remains underexplored. The available empiric material has not received sufficient methodological justification and conceptualization. This article aims to provide the conceptualization of the risk category as applied to the educational environment of a higher education institution, as well as empiric investigation of the risks within the educational environment as viewed by applicants and students.Materials and methods. 213 applicants and 547 students of the Kuban State Technological University took part in the survey. The following investigation methods were used: expert assessment, interview, questioning, content analysis, analysis of means method, cluster analysis and factor analysis.Investigation results. Comparative examination of the manifestation degree of risks within the educational environment as viewed by applicants and students of higher education institution showed significant differences in the assessment of risk by these groups of respondents. From the point of view of applicants, the main risks are connected with social and psychological aspects of the educational environment of a higher education institution, relations within student groups and interaction with teachers, as well as with the issues related to the educational management and leisure arrangement. As viewed by the students, the risks within the educational environment include external and social and psychological risk factors, motivating risks and risks arising from the learning process organization and management and the related issues. Applicants’ notion of the risks within the educational environment of a higher education institution was mainly influenced by information they received from media and by the opinion of their relatives and age mates.Consideration and conclusions. It was proved that the applicants’ idea of the risks within the educational environment of a higher education institution is determined by the opinion of people they know personally, however it changes during the process of studying in higher education institution and acquiring their own experience of being within the environment. The investigation results allow creating a model of psychological and pedagogical security within the educational environment of a higher education institution. This model makes it possible to forecast main risks of the educational environment, their development, and evolvement and find solution to them.

The role of the family in Swedish welfare policyIn the present article, I discuss the role of the family in Swedish welfare policy, from both theoretical and empirical perspectives. I analyse men’s and women’s time use and focus on the organization of paid and unpaid work. I describe how time allocation varies with gender, family status, and life cycle. The analysis shows that the family plays a more important role in practice than in theory, mainly through the fact that women perform more unpaid work (housework and caregiving) than men, which affects both their income and their well-being negatively. I argue that gender equality must be given a more prominent position in Swedish welfare policy. For example, family policy must be reformed, with gender equality on the labour market and in the home as an explicit goal. The present situation for working parents is different from that of previous decades when Swedish family policy was formulated. Reforms are thus necessary for safeguarding welfare and population well-being in the short and long run.

El bienestar se promueve hace muchos años, especialmente se vela por él en la población infanto-juvenil, sin embargo, cuando se pregunta qué es el bienestar muchas son las respuestas, pero pocas las investigaciones respecto a la infancia y menos contextualizadas en situaciones de vulneración de derechos, considerando que son a quienes más se pretende proteger. Es aquí, cuando es necesario escuchar a los adolescentes que han sido vulnerados en sus derechos respecto a la significación de su bienestar subjetivo expresándolo desde su marco de referencia. Con el objetivo de profundizar en las experiencias se utilizó una metodología cualitativa para entender desde la fenomenología los relatos de seis adolescentes pertenecientes al Programa Especializado en Calle (PEC-Renca), que a través del análisis de contenido de categorización emergente, se llegó a los hallazgos que en la significación del bienestar subjetivo de estos adolescentes prima la familia como fuente de todo aquello que les proporciona bienestar, estando juntos en un mismo hogar, con vínculos afectivos y en donde se ejerza una crianza parental. Influyendo así, la familia en todas las áreas de la vida de los adolescentes. Welfare is promoted for many years, especially it watches over him in the child population, however, when asked what is the welfare there are many answers, but little research regarding children and less contextualized in situations of violation of rights, believing them to be protected more. It is here when you need to listen to adolescents who have been violated in their rights regarding the significance of expressing their subjective well-being from their frame of reference. In order to deepen the experience a qualitative methodology to understand from the phenomenology the stories of six teenagers belonging to the Special Street (PEC-Renca) was used, that through content analysis of emerging categorization, it was the findings on the significance of subjective well-being of these adolescents premium family as the source of everything that provides well-being together in the same household, with bonding and wherein aparental upbringing is exercised. Thus influencing the family in all areas of life of adolescents.

This chapter describes how health is the most precious component for the happiness and all-round development of human being in the society. Alongside this, information is an important resource for individual growth and survival. Therefore, a Health Information System (HIS) is a system for collecting/processing of data from various sources, and using the information for policy-making and management of health services. This chapter discusses health literacy and its association with health information needs and health information literacy, the status of women in India and their influence in the well-being of the family, and the impact of HIS. This chapter also proves that with enough data obtained from the women of Kanyakumari District in India, the government's policy needs to be directed towards women for the success of its health-care programmes.

Aims and objectives: The aim of this scoping review is to investigate the association between bilingualism in the family and child subjective well-being, by reviewing the literature to identify key themes to date and remaining questions for future research. Methodology: Scopus, Web of Knowledge, ERIC, Psych Articles and PsychInfo were searched systematically between September and October 2018, and after title, abstract and full-text screening, 17 of the initial 1433 articles were included in this review. Data and analysis: Each study was coded for the discipline from which it emerged, the language combination studied, the measures of well-being and language proficiency it used, the geographical location of the study and the number of participants. Data on the link between bilingualism and well-being was extracted from each study. Findings and conclusion: Two main themes were identified: ‘The effect of language proficiency on family relationships’ and ‘The acculturation of parents and children as mediated by language’. Across studies, there was significant heterogeneity in definition of concepts and a diverse range of measures employed. In addition, the studies identified suggest a positive link between minority language maintenance and child well-being, and a positive influence of bilingualism, rather than knowledge of only the home or the majority language. However, the directionality of these relationships will need to be investigated in future research. Originality: This is the first scoping review conducted systematically to explore the link between bilingualism in the family and child well-being internationally. It builds on previous work such as a narrative review which examined this association in the European context.

Self‐esteem, the affective or evaluative appraisal of one's self, is linked with adaptive personality functioning: high self‐esteem is associated with psychological health benefits (e.g. subjective well‐being, absence of depression and anxiety), effective coping with illness, and satisfactory social relationships. Although several pathways have been hypothesized to effect within‐family transmission of self‐esteem (e.g. parenting style, family relationship patterns), we focus in this article on genetic influences. Genetic studies on both global and domain‐specific self‐esteem and on both level and stability of self‐esteem converge in showing that (i) genetic influences on self‐esteem are substantial, (ii) shared environmental influences are minimal, and (iii) non‐shared environmental influences explain the largest amount of variance in self‐esteem. We advocate that understanding of current issues in self‐esteem research will be enriched by including behavioural genetic approaches. Copyright © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

The article considers the distant family as a social institution of education, formation and development of personality. The current state of solving the problem of socio-psychological and legal work with children from distant families is analyzed. The sample of the study is described in detail by family type, sex, absence of father / mother and duration of absence. The peculiarities of the functioning of the emotional sphere of adolescents from distant families (anxiety, aggression, hostility), low level of socio-psychological adaptation, low level of emotional well-being in the family have been experimentally determined. The relationship between the degree of socio-psychological adaptation of the adolescent’s personality and emotional states is proved. The dependence of gender differences in the functioning of the family and the emotional sphere of adolescents has been established. The types of groups of adolescents from distant families are determined, in particular: anxious, aggressive-anxious, hostile-anxious, aggressive-hostile, absence of manifestation of negative signs. A structural and functional model of social and psychological support of remote families has been developed, which provides for work with adolescents and their parents with the use of special technologies to ensure the effectiveness of conditions that form harmonious family relationships.
