Dance teachers fulfil different roles in their daily work. It reflects as a need to act according to the circumstances that appear as a part of work process. If the economic situation in a certain country is unstable then more professionals are urged to obtain additional knowledge to use skills necessary for the development and sustainability of the profession. Skills that are often provided by other specialists in a different field of work. First of all the roles that are fulfil in a daily work need to be acknowledged and supported – denial of these roles can influence professional work/activity. Then according to the financial status occurs roles of secondary meaning, not used in the daily professional activities but rather occasionally. The recognition of one’s professional roles and their variability may take place in the higher education study process, when students realize and are motivated to obtain more information and knowledge/skills to expand their professional work. The aim of this article is to analyse professional roles of students in different higher education dance programs. The aim is carried out in the analysis of literature and on it’s base promoted evaluation indicators and levels of professional roles realized by dance teachers. A questionnaire is designed on a basis of these indicators and levels and offered for approbation to students in higher education dance programs in Latvian Academy of Music, Liepaja University, Latvian Academy of Culture

Often dance teachers do not realize that their professional activity is the creation of an artwork. Teachers are limited to a range of movements in some genres or the requirements of their work place, but above all dance teachers are representatives of art un they have a potential to create new, original artistic value and contribute to the art and cultural space in Latvia. Therefore it is essential to understand the development and level of artistically creative work in the study process. The aim of this article is to analyse the artistically creative work of students in different higher education dance programs. The aim is carried out in the analysis of literature and on its base promoted evaluation indicators and levels of artistically creative work for dance teachers as choreographers. A questionnaire is designed on a basis of these indicators and levels. The respondents are students in higher education dance programs in Latvian Academy of Music and Latvian Academy of Culture. The results promote strong and weak points in the artistically creative work of students as well as the necessary discussable questions in the study process.

Abstract The principles of education for sustainable development implemented in Lithuanian education system shifted the perceptions of teachers’ roles from disseminating knowledge towards developing students’ competencies of responsible, critical and creative thinking and acting. The objective of this research is to find out whether pre-service dance teachers in Lithuania are ready to meet challenges of contemporary educational paradigms. A questionnaire was administered to 59 pre-service dance teachers, and the analysis of five dance teacher education programmes was carried out. The findings reveal that, in general, pre-service dance teachers are not satisfied with the quality of the study process, although, according to their statement, they acquire the necessary knowledge.

The research problem is determined by involvement and competitiveness of young designers in the labour market that is related to the opportunities of gaining professional experience within independent professional activities during the design studies in higher education. The aim of the research is to determine development of the formation of students’-prospective designers’ professionalism in the study process. Literature study, questionnaire and interview included in mixed methods design. Qualitative and quantitative data collected from six 4th year students of Rezekne Higher Education Institution Bachelor program "Interior design". The research results show the opportunities for independent professional activities during the design study process in the context of interaction between personality and professional abilities. The 2020 has been a year of many challenges in many professions and also for dance teachers. The daily challenge is to replace existing dance classes with a totally different class structure, which is defined by the governmental restrictions. The dance teachers must react to these restrictions immediately and without any methodological materials and support. In the crisis the dance teachers must use such learning organizational forms as: group, individual and online, and use them as alternatives to one another. Can a dance teacher reach their professional (curriculum) goals by alternating components of the study process? How do the changing circumstances affect dancers and their attendance? The aim of this article is to analyse the possibilities of a dance teacher to reach their professional goals with group, individual and online classes and to determine the dancers satisfaction with these classes. The research is realized in terms of one dance studio and in two stages. The first stage (March-July 2020) were an experimental video-instruction independent training analysis. 40 video materials were grouped in 20 classes and sent to 20 dancers. The second stage (September-January 2020) were group, individual and online class analysis from the teacher’s and dancers perspective. In the second stage 27 dancers and 5 dance teachers were surveyed.

Diverse evaluation of the study process and the activities of all participants involved in it is a significant element in the context of introducing quality culture at the higher education institutions (HEI). It is a common practice in HEI to carry out students’ surveys in order to receive students’ evaluation on the quality of the study process as such, the study curriculum, the content and organization of particular subjects. On the basis of the performed analysis of the scientific and didactic literature, the article describes students’ survey and the possibilities of applying its results in assessing the quality of the university faculty’s professional activities. The survey of pedagogy students was performed in the empirical study which helped to find out students’ understanding about the competences needed for the university faculty in their professional activities in the study process at higher education institution and the professional development needs of the university faculty in view of pedagogy students are defined.

Considering the external and internal challenges, including accession of Ukraine to the European Higher Education Area and the European Research Area, the adoption of the Laws of Ukraine «On Education» (2017), «On Scientific and Technical Activities» (2016), «On Higher Education» (2014) the systematic reforming higher education began. One of the directions of reforming higher education is to increase the requirements for the professional level of scientific and pedagogical workers, since only a highly qualified specialist is able to provide a high level of training for the applicants for higher education and, accordingly, to prepare a competitive specialist. The article is aimed to identify the tools for students to evaluate the professional activities carried out by the scientific and pedagogical workers in foreign and domestic higher education institutions. To achieve the aim and solve the set tasks, we used a complex of methods of scientific research: theoretical analysis of academic literature - to clarify the achievements of the scientists on a particular topic of research; structural and system analysis - to identify the tools of evaluation used by the students to assess professional activity of scientific and pedagogical workers of foreign and domestic higher education institutions; comparative method - to carry out a comparative analysis of the content of domestic and foreign instruments for evaluating the professional activities carried out by scientific and pedagogical workers. Summarizing the results of the study indicates that there is a positive experience in the market economies, including the United Kingdom, Australia, and the United States of America (USA) regarding the involvement of students in evaluating the professional performance of teaching staff. The reasonability of engaging students in evaluating the professional work of students' teaching staff is primarily due to the fact that they most often contact with the teaching staff and they are the direct consumers of their services. Based on an analysis of the best university practices in the UK, Australia, and the United States for assessing students' professional work and their personal qualities, it has been established that the main tools are: an online assessment system; student ratings; feedback from students to improve teaching and learning, including student letters prepared from the whole group or course; feedback from alumni (including masters and PhD students, as well as graduate assistants) and more. The analysis of domestic practices showed that instruments such as anonymous questionnaires and student rankings are mostly used to evaluate the professional activities of academic staff of higher education institutions and their personal qualities. The introduction of foreign experience of the use of various tools for assessing the professional activities of the scientific and pedagogical workers in domestic higher education institutions will contribute to the self-reflection of their own professional activities, the development of a trajectory of professional development focused on the areas that require professional development and improvement of quality.

The concept of professional identity is considered and topical from the perspective of different occupations. The professional identity of the dance teacher has so far not been researched scientifically and there are no studies about this concept. The article focuses on the term “teachers professional identity” and the formation process of the dance teacher’s professional identity model, as well as the explanation of components of this model from a dance teachers point of view. The aim of this article is to create a professional identity model of the dance teacher by analyzing scientific literature and using professional experience. The professional activity of the dance teacher directly affects the students both physically and psychologically, therefore it is especially important to pay attention to the issues of dance teacher’s professional identity, even more if these questions are not discussed in the study process and there are no related instructions or materials that reveal the essence of the professional identity concept in the world of dance. In a relatively short period of time that students spend in dance classes, teachers must maximize the positive impact on their students. Considering many factors of influence - family, school, friends, social networks, hobbies, dance educator should strive to create an understanding of behavior, aesthetics, tastes, positive relationships in the group, discipline and many more. Explaining professional identity from a creative point of view leads to greater insight into one's profession, as well as to assess the quality of one’s professional work and achievements.

The study explores the role of mobile technologies in school librarians‟ daily work and professional learning and development. The aim of the study is to examine how school librarians search, access, use and share information via their smartphones, what smartphone functionalities they use for these purposes, and what apps and social media are most frequently used. The study is based on empirical research conducted on a sample of school librarians/teacher librarians in Australia, Hong Kong and United Kingdom. Data were collected with online survey. The major finding of this study is that school librarians in Australia and Hong Kong widely use smartphone technologies for their daily needs and for professional work and learning. Various smartphone functionalities tools are used to satisfy these varied needs. Also school librarians from Hong Kong use various smartphone functionalities more frequently than study participants from Australia and UK. Barriers to smartphone use are also discussed but it seems that they do not detract school librarians from using smartphone technologies for their daily professional activities.

Students' Independent Professional Activity in Pedagogical PracticeThe topicality of the research is determined by the need for changes in higher education concerned with implementing the principles of sustainable education. The article focuses on teacher training, highlighting the teacher's profession as an attractive choice of one's career that permits to ensure the development of general and professional skills and an opportunity for new specialists to align with the labour market. The empirical study of students' understanding of their professional activity and of the conditions for its formation is conducted by applying structured interviews (of practice supervisors, students, academic staff); students and experts' questionnaire. Comparative analysis of quantitative and qualitative data and triangulation were used in case studies. As a result, a framework of pedagogical practice organisation has been created in order to form students' independent professional activity. The criteria and indicators of independent professional activity have been formulated and suggestions for designers of study programmes and organisers of the study process have been provided.
