In Russian literature we have very few reports of Banti disease. The first belongs to Gruzdev, with a detailed literary analysis of this issue and a description of the observed only clinically in the Kronstad hospital of one own observation. The late professor H.M. Lyubimov in 1902 introduced our society to this new form of the disease, which was established by him in one case at the section table, and was accompanied, moreover, by a special form of peritonitis. This observation with a detailed pathological and anatomical examination is the first in Russia.

The paper presents the analysis of religious themes in the lyrics of Russian rap artists. The songs of such musical groups and artists as “Kasta”, Detsl, FACE, Husky, Noize MC, “Sol’ Zemli”, “25/17” are considered. The article proves that rap in Russia has become a significant cultural phenomenon, and the lyrics of rap artists can be interpreted as poetry, inscribing it in the tradition of Russian literature. The article demonstrates that in Russian rap we can find such religious themes as God-seeking, anti-clericalism, criticism of religion as an institution, philippics against its individual representatives, a premonition of the coming Apocalypse, expressing a general sense of impending disaster. Musicians sensitively capture the atmosphere of the era and reflect it in their lyrics. Despite the fact that rap is a new form of art, in the world’s poetic tradition, dating back to the biblical texts, is reflected the works of Russian rap musicians, and at the same time it has a clear and sharp social character.

Research subject is grounding efficiency and topicality of Russian literature (and its studies) as a cultural project, that could be apologia of a traditional individual. Methodological basis is anthropocentric literature of Erich Auerbach, Dmitry Likhachev, Sergey Averintsev, Harold Bloom, in which literary text analysis, assessment of genre structures lead to the conclusions on the individual’s state under the established cultural tradition. Analysis of contemporary Russian novels outlines authors’ worlds. Reading them evokes various images: of a passionate individual, often with certain intent, but always affected by the interaction with crises and voids (Yury Buida), an individual characterized by various anti-totalitarian acts, by aspiration to exercise the freedom of thought in everyday life (Ludmila Ulitskaya), an egocentric individual, believing that the most significant victories come in the representation of the own self (Edward Limonov), an individual prone to interaction with totalitarian principles, synthesizing non-canonic metaphysical forms and attributes of strong state under ambivalent relations of utopia and anti-utopia (Vladimir Sorokin), an individual actively exploring modern world and general existence in motions, related by the author to Oriental cognition principles and spiritual practices (Victor Pelevin). Our focused literary analysis aims at combining all text moves in plot and language that represent evolvement of a person as one of the central problems of any novel.

Gavrila Derzhavin’s creative work marked an important stage in the formation of Russian poetry. Raised in the works of previous generations of poets, Gavrila Derzhavin mastered the best samples of Russian and foreign solemn panegyric works, creating on their basis a special form of his own batal ode. What contributes to a full and deep understanding of the process of formation and development of Gavrila Derzhavin’s batal lyrics, is a study of the conception of the Russian odic tradition related to the time of Peter I. The place of poetry in the life of society had been rethought during this period; poetry had been rationalised at the service of the state. Poetry texts started to be used as musical and poetry accompaniment of holidays, solemn meetings of reigning persons or praise of military successes. Russian literature responded to this request by the appearance of various samples of solemn, panegyric poetry - cantos and other solemn poems. During the reign of Peter I, who were the most prominent representatives of the panegyric lyrics were Theophan Prokopovich (1681–1736), Stefan Yavorsky (1658–1722) and Dmitri Rostovsky (1651–1709). The chosen batal works of the above-mentioned authors as well as the batal lyrical poetry by Gavrila Derzhavin are the subject of research within the framework of this article. The numerous correspondences and elements of continuity between the panegyric cantos and the odes by Gavrila Derzhavin expressed in a similar system of allegorical image-symbols, as well as in orientation to antique specimens and to biblical motifs, are revealed in the comparative study of solemn panegyric works of batal subject matter and the batal ode of Gavrila Derzhavin.

The monograph examines the problems of the thesaurus of Russian literary «estate studies» in an interdisciplinary manner: it is shown how the theoretical tools of humanitarian geography and art history enrich the literary analysis of the texts of Russian literature, reflecting the specifics of the «estate» and «dacha» models of rural life. The peculiarities of the «estate-dacha topos» are revealed when referring to the lyrics of N.А. Klyuev, poems by S.A. Еsenin, prose by I.S. Shmelev and B.K. Zaitsev. The appendix contains materials summarizing the author’s experience in developing strategic planning documents for a number of literary reserve museums and estates-museums. The book is addressed to humanities scholars — philologists, culturologists, humanitarian geographers, as well as cultural figures and a wide range of lovers of Russian literature.

How is it that literature can overwhelm a reader and leave him or her completely speechless? Presence Theory takes on this question by describing the philosophical foundations of intensive aesthetical experiences and by detecting the specific strategies that produce these special moments. The aim of this book is to examine the most important concepts of the six leading presence theorists (George Steiner, Jean-Luc Nancy, Karl Heinz Bohrer, Martin Seel, Dieter Mersch and Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht) and to evaluate how they can contribute to a new form of literary analysis. For the first time, the common grounds and the differences of these concepts are explored in great detail, followed by an extensive analysis of three contemporary German novels (Rainald Goetz’s ‚Rave‘, Helmut Krausser’s ‚UC‘ and Wolfgang Herrndorf’s ‚Tschick‘) that demonstrates the advantages of Presence Theory as a method. The findings of this book indicate that Presence Theory has the potential of becoming a new paradigm for literary studies.

The late Professor Collingwood claimed that the dance is the mother of all languages in the sense that every kind or order of language (speech, gesture, and so forth) is an offshoot from an original language of total bodily gesture; a language which we all use, whether aware of it or not—even to stand perfectly still, no less than making a movement, is in the strict sense a gesture. He also relates the dance to the artist's language of form and shape. He asks us to imagine an artist who wants to reproduce the emotional effect of a ritual dance in which the dancers trace a pattern on the ground. The emotional effect of the dance depends not on any instantaneous posture, but on the traced pattern. Obviously, he concludes, the sensible thing would be to leave out the dancers altogether, and draw the pattern by itself.

Platelet adhesion initiates platelet aggregation and is an important component of the hemostatic process. Since the development of a new form of collagen as a topical hemostatic agent is of both basic and clinical interest, an ultrastructural and hematologic study of the interaction of platelets with the microcrystalline collagen preparation was undertaken. In this study, whole blood anticoagulated with EDTA was used in order to inhibit aggregation and permit study of platelet adhesion to collagen as an isolated event. The microcrystalline collagen was prepared from bovine dermal corium; milling was with sharp blades. The preparation consists of partial hydrochloric acid amine collagen salts and retains much of the fibrillar morphology of native collagen.

Tropomyosin paracrystals have been used extensively as test specimens and magnification standards due to their clear periodic banding patterns. The paracrystal type discovered by Ohtsuki1 has been of particular interest as a test of unstained specimens because of alternating bands that differ by 50% in mass thickness. While producing specimens of this type, we came across a new paracrystal form. Since this new form displays aligned tropomyosin molecules without the overlaps that are characteristic of the Ohtsuki-type paracrystal, it presents a staining pattern that corresponds to the amino acid sequence of the molecule.
