The fauna of parasitic mites of bats from the karst caves in the region of the Volga Upland was studied in 2004-2005. Six species of bats such as Daubentons water bat, Brandts bat, whiskered bat, pond bat, northern bat and long-eared bat were examined. 18 species of arthropods were detected, among them there are gamasid mites (10 species) and harvest mites (2 species). Leptotrombidium russicum (Oud., 1902) and Myotrombicula sp. were found for the first time in Central Russia. Spinturnix acuminatus (Koch, 1836), Steatonyssus spinosus (Willmann, 1936), Steatonyssus periblepharus (Kolenati, 1858), Macronyssus flavus (Kolenati, 1856) turned out to be the main group of parasites in this study. As for the insects flies of the family Nycteribiidae and fleas of the family Ischnopsyllidae were found. The cluster analysis of ectoparasite fauna has showed that they are more or less evenly distributed among all members of mixed colonies of bats, while there is no violation of specificity in the choice of hosts. Low values of the Berger-Parker index marked a lack of competition between species, which indicates the stability of parasitic communities formed on bats in mixed colonies and in natural habitats. This fact indicates a complex relationship between the parasites in the community on the one hand, and long-term existence of the community on the other hand. This, in its turn, shows that in long-evolving communities competitive relationships between parasites are obliterated, which gives them stability. Herewith the bat colony is used as an integral whole, although some parasitic species prefer certain types of hosts.

As one of the major error sources, satellite signature effect should be reduced or even erased from the distribution of the post-fit residuals to improve the ranging precision. A simulation of satellite signature effect removal process for normal point algorithm is conducted based on a revised model of satellite response, which fully considers the structural and distribution characteristics of retroreflectors. In order to eliminate both long-term and short-term satellite signature effect, a clipping method for SLR data processing is proposed by defining the clipping location as 5.6 mm away from the mean value of the long-term fit residuals to select effective returns for normal points. The results indicate that, compared to normal points algorithm, the RMS per NP of LAGEOS-1 observation data processed by the clipping method is reduced from 62.90 ± 9.9 mm to 56.07 ± 4.69 mm, and the stability of RMS is improved 53%. This study improves the satellite signature effect model and simulates the fluctuation of normal points caused by satellite signature effect for the first time. The new method based on the simulation of satellite signature effect has stronger robustness and applicability, which can further minimize the influence of satellite signature effect on the SLR production and significantly improve the data property.

The inventory and assessment of species diversity in the mono-generic family Begoniaceae C. A. Agardh of Bangladesh were made through long term field investigations, collections, identification, survey and examination of preserved herbarium specimens and review of relevant taxonomic and floristic literature. The family is recognized to be represented in the flora of Bangladesh by 19 species under the genus Begonia L. Of these, 11 species were known to be previously recorded from the area of Bangladesh, hence additional 8 species of the present account are being reported here for the first time as new records from Bangladesh, these are: Begonia grandis Dryand. ssp. holostylla Irmsch. , B. heracleifolia Cham. and Schltdl. Cult., B. maculata Raddi Cult. B. modestiflora Kurz, B. muliensis T. T. Yu. Cult., B. scintillans Dunn, B. surculigera Kurz and B. thomsonii A. DC. An enumeration of these 19 species is prepared, and each species is cited with detailed taxonomic data. All species of the Begonia L. are herbaceous in nature and possess potential economic values, viz. 11 (52%) medicinal, 5 (24%) ornamental, 3 (14%) beverage, 1 (5%) food and 1 (5%) poisonous. Determination of status of occurrence showed that 2 (10.53%) species are common, 5 (26.32%) cultivated, 9 (47.36%) threatened and 3 (15.79%) possibly extinct in Bangladesh. Field photographs and hand drawings of recorded taxa are provided.J. Biodivers. Conserv. Bioresour. Manag. 2018, 4(1): 35-46

In their effect on marriage and the family, as in so many other domains, the reforms can be seen as having a dual thrust. On the one hand, by giving the land in long-term leases back to the family, and allowing it to invest in a variety of small and medium-sized ventures, they have restored something like the situation in rural China before the collectivization of 1956, when the family estate was the source of income and investment in opportunity for most rural Chinese. On the other hand, the reforms have been undertaken explicitly in the name of modernization, and the increases in both agricultural and rural industrial yields, along with the rise in household entrepreneurship, have taken China in some ways even further from the feudalism of pre-revolutionary days than it was during the collective era.

AbstractSeveral hundred inscribed bronze objects dating from Western and Eastern Zhou periods were commissioned for or by married women. Several dozen inscriptions are known whose commissioners called themselvessheng生 (甥) of a number of lineages. In pre-Qin Chinese, the termsheng甥 designated several categories of affinal relatives: paternal aunts’ sons, maternal uncles’ sons, wives’ brothers, sisters’ husbands, and sons of sisters or daughters. The wide geographical and chronological spread of female- orsheng-related vessels, as well as dedications to “many affinal relatives” (hungou婚購) in bronze inscriptions point to the importance of marital ties in early Chinese society and politics.Focusing on the inscriptions commissioned bysheng, the present article suggests that even when concluded at a considerable distance, marriages produced long-term mutual obligations for male members of the participating lineages or principalities. Affinal relationships represented social and political capital that could be converted in terms of individuals’ careers and prestige or benefits for their whole lineages/states. In sum, starting from the early Western Zhou period, marital alliances represented a substantial integrative factor in early Chinese politics. On the one hand, marital alliances helped to consolidate the radial network of Zhou states centered on the Zhou king. On the other hand, they facilitated the construction of decentralized regional and interregional inter-state networks. The latter guaranteed the stability of the Zhou political system even when it had a weak center. As a result, the Zhou networks did not fall apart following crises in the Zhou royal house, but continued to expand by the inclusion of new members.

The transposed brachiobasilic arteriovenous fistula is often constructed by employing a two-stage procedure for better maturation and long-term patency, but its validity on overall outcomes remains controversial. A single-center’s experience is presented herein, comparing one- and two-stage approaches on 229 consecutive first-time arteriovenous access constructed in the upper arm with a loop configuration and an obtuse anastomosis angle that provide favorable flow dynamics. The one- and two-year patency rates were equivalent between the two approaches, but the fistula rate was greater and the maturation time was shorter with the one-stage procedure.

ABSTRACTThe geomechanical and mining-technological aspects of the construction of salt caverns as disposal chambers have been investigated during project phase 2, completed by mid 1981. With a view towards the stability analysis of such a cavern, FEM-estimates have been carried out and evaluated. From these it can be derived that- a rotational ellipsoid would be the most suitable shape- its dimensions should be 82 m (vertical axis) and 42 m (horizontal axis)- the distance (safety pillar) between the neighbouring caverns should be 170 m (vertical) and 180 m (horizontal). For practical engineering purposes the rotational ellipsoid can be modified into a cylinder with conic bottom and top. The numerical model simulated the short term as well as the long term characteristics of the surrounding salt rocks. The short term characteristics were assessed by an elastic approach, the long term characteristics by a rheological model. The input parameters have been determined by means of laboratory tests on ASSE rock salt.In a second step the characteristics of partially and completely filled caverns were simulated. It was shown clearly that deformation of the salt rock comes to a halt when counteracted by the filling.Based upon the results of the stability analysis, investigations were made to find out a suitable mining technique for the construction of the cavern. Solution mining and conventional development by means of drilling and blasting have been studied alternatively. Since both methods have their advantages and disadvantages a decision in favour of the one or the other cannot be made until the actual site has been defined.

The paper aims to trace the influence of the ideas of democracy, first put forward by the revolution of 1932, and the historical heritage of the "People's Party", which made it, on the development of the modern political protest movement in Thailand, where for many decades there has been a struggle between authoritarianism and the dictatorship of the military, on the one hand, and parliamentarism, on the other. It is emphasized that 2020 is characterized by the radicalization of the mass protest movement, mainly represented by students. The author came to conclusion that the idea of the monarchy reform publicly proclaimed for the first time calls into question the stability of the political system in the country.

Pets as  human substitute in Japanese family. This study aims to describe the Japanese society's view of pets, especially in relation to the substitution of the position of family members, especially children, in a family. This is in line with the emergence of a phenomenon whereby the presence of children in the family has been replaced by pets, especially for those who choose not to have children or elderly citizens. The method used is analytical descriptive method and literature study. From the analysis results, it is known that the presence of pets in lieu of the presence of friends, family members, even biological child (human substitute) for some Japanese is a necessity. On the one hand, this can be seen as something positive because it raises human awareness in animals. But on the other hand, this can be interpreted as a decrease in the quantity and quality of interaction among human beings, which in the long term can affect a person's ability to show empathy to others. Keywords: pet; pet attachment; human substitute

Osteochondroma is one of the most common benign bone tumor; however, the surgical treatment still remains a challenge for those that occur at the distal tibiofibular interosseous location. Previously, the transfibular approach has been successfully described, but the potential damage of the syndesmosis would give rise to the instability of the ankle joint and thus may result in the unfavorable long-term outcome. Here, a revised strategy which can protect the syndesmotic complex is introduced. From 2010 to 2017, eleven patients with the distal tibiofibular interosseous osteochondroma who underwent the revised surgery were collected. The distal fibular osteotomy and posterior tibial osteotomy were performed to keep the inferior syndesmosis intact for better stability of the ankle joint. Both the anterior tibiofibular ligaments (AITFL) and posterior tibiofibular ligaments (PITFL) have been preserved successfully, and thus, the stability of the ankle joint has been maintained due to our strategy. The VAS and AOFAS scores were utilized to assess the clinical outcome and function. Postoperatively, all the patients were pain-free and were able to wear the appropriate shoes at the last follow-up. Preoperative and postoperative AOFAS scores were 93.63±6.91 and 47.27±5.27 (P<0.05), respectively. Moreover, the average VAS score was 1.73±0.27 (compared with preoperative as 7.45±2.15, P<0.05), demonstrating obvious improvement after the operation. To our best knowledge, this is the first time to perform the resection of the distal tibial interosseous osteochondroma involving the fibula without interrupting the inferior syndesmotic complex especially the AITFL and PITFL. We believe that this strategy may pave a new way for optimized clinical outcome for these patients with distal tibiofibular interosseous osteochondroma. This clinical trial study is registered with number ChiCTR1900024690.
