The article addresses selected issues concerning legal guardianship of minors in Poland. The study points to the specific nature of legal guardianship and the purpose for which it is established. Legal guardianship results from the legal obligation and involves the exercise of custody of the person for whom it was established. Therefore, it covers the custody over the person, property management and representation of the ward. The appointment of a guardian, i.e. a specific person designated to exercise the custody, should be distinguished from the establishment of guardianship itself. In the process of selection of the guardian by the guardian court, the welfare of the child is the decisive factor. This is the overriding criterion and it comes to the fore of the proceedings. The principle of the child’s welfare also applies to other decisions made by the guardianship court during the guardianship. The article specifically discusses issues whose resolution may raise interpretative doubts. These include, i.a., the guardianship exercised jointly by spouses, the catalogue of negative preconditions excluding the possibility of exercising the guardianship of minors, and the obligation for the guardian to obtain authorisation in all important matters relating to the ward.

According to Islamic Jurisprudence, one of the most important requirements for a sound marriage is the total agreement of the woman under the guardianship of her father or any other mahram relative. In case of none, the ruler or the judge assume to be a guardian or Wali of a woman. A guardian or Wali is responsible for the selection of the righteous person for the woman and assures the protection and welfare of her Rights and interests. He has the authority to reject and refuse the proposal if the suitor did not deem a sound and sincere match. A marriage without a guardian is considered unlawful, as there is no concept of love affairs and courtship without a guardian in Islam. The guardian evaluates the religious, social and economic compatibility of the couple, while on the other hand a woman selects the spouse on physical attraction and romantic notion which vanishes out soon as the real life starts causing potential problems in relationship. That why Islam lays down principle and law of wilayat for a lady to protect her interests and rights and consider to be a shield and safeguard for her welfare in future marital life.

Based on research done on a small corpus of comment articles, this paper reconsiders the relation between topic entity, subject function and given status and explores their role in the construction and maintenance of the global discourse topic. It claims that even though it is pertinent to say that at sentence level much of the topical information is non-subject and/or frequently post-verbal with new informational status, at discourse level the progression established between non-subjects and subject elements ends up converting topical non-subjects into subjects. In the long term, this means that using subject position frequency as a primary variable in determining possible candidates to global discourse topic is significant and relevant. The article shows that the conversion of topical non-subjects into subjects is done not only by means of lexical recurrence and reference, as Givón (1990) claims; but also by other means such as extended reference, anticipatory it, general nouns or superordinates and complex clausal structures. This is illustrated with evidence from a selection of comment articles from The Observer, The Times and The Guardian.

Extraction is the process of separating and isolating substances from a substance by adding a particular solvent to remove a mixed component of a solid or a liquid. In this study, extraction of chlorophyllid from mango leaves to determine the stability of chlorophyll reduction in the extract and raffinate. Extraction of chlorophyllid was done by stirring extractor that is by cutting mango leaves 1 cm then in extraction with Aquadest solvent 25%: 75% Isopropyl Alcohol. Selection of solvents is a decisive factor in the extraction process. Things to note in the selection of solvents are the selectivity, the properties of the solvent, the ability to extract, not toxic, easily evaporated and the price is relatively cheap. Characteristics of chlorophyll extract using spectrophotometer to determine the absorbance of optimum chlorophyll in an extract and raffinate variables and pH test to find out good pH stability to reduce mango leaf chlorophyll. The optimum chlorophyll absorbance results at 60OC and 70 minutes on the extract and the pH stability result to reduce chlorophyll was found at pH 9 acid and pH 2 base.

Davies, Nicola. The Day War Came. Illustrated by Rebecca Cobb. Somerville, Massachusetts, Candlewick Press, in association with Help Refugees, 2018. A young school girl begins her day happily by breakfasting with her family, walking to school with her mother, and commencing the normal, pleasant learning activities of her classroom. In an instant, her world changes; she is orphaned and alone in a devastated landscape. War has come; she articulates its reality: “War took everything. War took everyone. I was ragged, bloody, all alone.” Simple, forceful, poetic lines such as these carry forward this story of a child refugee. Though it could be read and understood by primary school children, it would resonate with readers young and old alike. Nicola Davies indicates that her book was inspired by the Guardian newspaper website which featured an account of a refugee child who was refused school entry because there was no chair for her to sit on. In Davies’ own words: “…hundreds and hundreds of people posted images of empty chairs, with the hashtag #3000 chairs, as symbols of solidarity with children who had lost everything and had no place to go.” Davies’ interpretation of this reality for young readers is engrossing and moving. Her storyline is perfectly interpreted by the watercolour and graphite pencil illustrations of Rebecca Cobb. Using an expressionistic style, Cobb captures the feelings of confusion and disbelief, abandonment and isolation felt by the displaced child. She also brings a sense of hope to the story’s conclusion. The teamwork of Davies and Cobb is brilliant. Together, they have created a moving and memorable piece of children’s literature. Highly recommended: 4 out of 4 starsReviewer: Leslie AitkenLeslie Aitken’s long career in librarianship included selection of children’s literature for school, public, special and academic libraries. Abstract Property management has often been described as an after-sale service because the participation of professional property managers is only required upon completion of the building. Recently, however, property management has become an integral part of project development based on its value. These days, managing recreational facilities such as residents’ clubs, gyms and swimming pools, given the frequent use of electronic installations, no longer falls under basic caretaking services. The early detection of hidden problems such as poor quality concealed cables, conduits and pipes and the improper selection of building materials saves time and money in subsequent maintenance and repair work, simultaneously reducing any inconvenience experienced by end-users due to a breakdown in services or defective rectification. Environmental protection and energy conservation are becoming increasingly important in our daily lives, and thus are unavoidable agendas in the design and construction of buildings, be they domestic, commercial or industrial. The input of professional property managers based on their foresight and past work experience with end-users is crucial to the success of such schemes. This paper reviews the value of professional property managers in residential project development.
