In the past 40 years, the agglomeration of tobacco industry plays a vital role in economic growth in China. Meanwhile, the rapid economic development has paid serious environmental and energy costs.Based on the panel data of 31 provinces in China from 2005 to 2015, this paper uses the differential GMM method to empirically test the relationship between the agglomeration of tobacco industry and industrial pollution emissions. The study found that the spatial agglomeration of the tobacco industry has a significant negative impact on industrial wastewater, sulfur dioxide and industrial dust emissions. Capital labor, enterprise scale, and pollution control investmentall have a significant impact on pollution emissions. Therefore, the increase in the agglomeration of China’s tobacco industry is conducive to reducing industrial pollution emissions.

This study examines the relationship between terrorism and economic openness that takes into account both the number and intensity of terrorist incidents and the impact of government military expenditures on trade-GDP and foreign direct investment-GDP ratios for both developed and developing countries. It uses the dynamic GMM method to account for endogeneity in the variables. Deaths caused by terrorism have a significant negative impact on FDI flows, and the number of terrorist attacks is also found to be significant in hampering the countries’ ability to trade with other nations. The study also demonstrates that the developing countries exhibit almost similar results to our main analysis. The developed countries exhibit a negative impact of terrorism, but the regression results are not significant.

The major objective of this research is to examine the relationship between poverty, income inequality and economic growth from some selected developing countries. This study uses panel data for the period of 2002-2015. All the data is taken from world development indicators (WDI). To find out the results, we have used Hausman test an econometrics technique for panel data in this research. The results of the study indicate that poverty and income inequality have a negative impact on economic growth on the other hand Gross capital formation, labor force, total population and government consumption and expenditure have a positive impact on economic growth. The result tells us that changes in these variables have a significant and positive effect on the dependent variable. To achieve the goal of economic growth developing countries should reduce poverty and take meaningful steps to overcome the problem of inequality in the society which can be very helpful in achieving the goal of economic growth.

The present study was undertaken to measure and compare the relative efficiencies of selected Food Processing Companies in India. The relationship between firm performance and selected variables in food processing sector has also been studied. Set considered for analysis consisted of 20 food processing companies with period of analysis covering 8 years from 2005 to 2012. Efficiency status of the firm was regressed upon using capital to sales ratio, labor cost to sales ratio, raw material cost to sales ratio and energy cost to sales ratio as explanatory variable. Results indicate that except for labor cost to sales ratio all other variables were having significant negative impact on the efficiency of food processing companies.

The effect of exchange rate risk on trade is one of the more controversial issues in international trade. This paper uses cointegration and error-correction approach to investigate the relationship between unanticipated exchange rate risk and U.S. imports over the period 1974:1-1992:4. The major finding of this study is that the exchange rate risk has a significant negative impact on U.S. imports.

The main concern of this study is the impact that an increase in female participation within the labor force has on the earnings of males in Brazil. Previous research considered these transitions for male workers, but did not include female workers when estimating various effects on earnings. The 1970, 1980, 1991, and 2000 Brazilian Demographic Censuses were used for this analysis. Results suggest a significant negative impact on male earnings in 1970 as a result of the share of female workers. This effect has been decreasing over time, as the coefficients from more recent years are positive. Changes in age and educational composition make a substantial difference on the estimation of male earnings in Brazil. The method developed in this study is not infallible, but it improves previous estimates by including the relationship among compositional changes, female labor force participation, and earnings, thus going beyond the direct impact of age and education.

The rapid development of internet-based ride-hailing services has contributed to transportation in cities and, at the same time, has significantly impacted existing travel modes in cities. A question has emerged as to whether and to what extent ride-hailing services replace private car use. Although the private car is convenient, comfortable, and flexible, it has low utilization rate and high maintenance and parking costs. Better understanding of the relationship between ride-hailing services and the use of private cars has been brought to the forefront for auto dealers and urban transportation policymakers. However, controversies remain regarding how ride-hailing services will impact the use of private cars in cities. Given this setting, our study applied a difference-in-differences method to analyze the impact of ride-hailing services on the use of private cars with balanced panel data from 109 prefecture-level cities in China from 2010 to 2016. Moreover, we employed some methods to verify the robustness of the preliminary results. The empirical results show that ride-hailing services had a negative impact on the use of private cars in urban areas. Over time, the negative impact initially strengthened and then weakened. Further studies showed that ride-hailing services had a more significant negative impact on private car use in eastern cities than in western cities. The results showed that the influence of ride-hailing services on private car use in urban areas is heterogeneous across time and cities.

Rainfall has enormous impact on weather and climate. An investigation on impact of rainfall on coconut productivity was taken place in Kozhikode and Malappuram districts of Kerala, to identify the variation in coconut production on an account of secondary data based on rainfall collected for a time period from 1991 to 2015 (25 years). Panel data analysis revealed that rainfall during 3rd (July-September) and 4th (October-December) quarters was found to have significant negative impact on coconut production. Amount of rainfall observed during 1st (Januvary-March) and 2nd(April-June) quarters has positive non-significant impact on coconut production. The growth trend of rainfall showed an increasing trend in Kozhikode district whereas Malappuram district had a decreasing trend over the years.

The article discusses the problem of resentment and touchiness from the point of view of various psychological concepts (psychoanalysis, gestalt psychology, transactional analysis, factor theory of personality, sanogenic thinking theory). Resentment is a reaction to the inconsistency of one’s own expectations in relation to another person and his real behavior, and touchiness is a personality trait that is characterized by a tendency to experience resentment in different personally significant situations with minimal mismatch of the expected and real behavior of the communication partner. The article presents the mechanisms of occurrence of touchiness from the point of view of various approaches. Most researchers agree that touchiness is formed in childhood due to disharmonious relations with parents. According to psychologists, touchiness has a significant negative impact on the relationship between people, making it difficult to build personal and business ties.

Abstract This research analyzes the relationship between housing and rental prices in 26 first-tier and second-tier cities in China before and after the policy of simultaneous rental and sales markets. The PVAR model and monthly panel data of these cities from June 2010 to December 2018 were employed. The study found that, before the policy of simultaneous rental and sales markets took effect, the housing and rental prices were relatively independent of each other, whereas the rental market in second-tier cities is affected more considerably by the sales market. After the enactment of the policy on simultaneous rental and sales markets, rental prices have a positive effect on housing prices, with this effect being more obvious in second-tier cities. The rental prices with the first-order lag have a significant negative impact on current rental price in first-tier cities. Considering the features of the housing market in different cities, the implementation of the simultaneous rental and sales markets policy needs to be more targeted and attention should be paid to preventing simultaneous irrational growth, both on the sales and rental markets.

Based on the methods of literature survey, interview survey and questionnaire survey, this paper selects Xiaojin, Danba, Kangding, Luding, Puge and Butuo County as the survey sites of multi-ethnic areas in Sichuan Province. After obtaining the first-hand data and data of local dialect usage, family language habits and family economic conditions, it empirically analyzes the relationship between dialect diversity and economic income and comes to a conclusion that in the multi-ethnic areas of Sichuan Province, dialect diversity has a significant negative impact on the level of economic income. On the basis of deepening the understanding of the relevance between language and economy, this paper provides some reference for the government to carry out reasonable language planning in ethnic areas.
