Intercropping soybean with corn on dry land with dry climate (DLDC) is an alternative program to expand the soybean cultivation harvested area. This study evaluated the effectiveness of fertilization performance in the intercropping of soybean-corn in DLDC. The experiment in this study was arranged in a randomized block design, consisting of seven fertilizer package treatments with four replications. The spacing between corn (Pertiwi 3) and soybean (Dena 1) was (50 cm x 200 cm) x 40 cm (2 plants/clump) and between soybeans (Dena 1) was 40 cm x 15 cm (2-3 plants/clumps). The observations consisted of soil analysis (pH, organic matter, total N (Kjeldahl), available P, Ca-dd, Mg-dd, K-dd, and Na-dd), soybean leaf chlorophyll index (45 and 60 days after planting/dap), plant height at (45 daps and harvest), number and weight of root nodules (45 daps); Corn: chlorophyll index (56 daps), plant height (harvest), analysis of corn and soybean plant tissue (60 daps), yield, and yield components of dry seeds of soybean and corn per hectare. The results showed that effective fertilization for the intercropped crops was 53 kg N + 1,500 kg of manure per hectare in corn plant and 7 kg N + 22 kg P2O5 + 18 kg K2O + 1,500 kg/ha manure + Rhizobium Iletrisoy/Agrisoy in soybean crops.

The objective of this study was to evaluate, through path analysis, the influence of agronomic characters as a function of foliar spraying and furrow inoculation by Azospirillum brasilense on soybean yield. Two experiments were conducted in the crop years of 2013/14 and 2014/15, grown in Lavras, Minas Gerais. In the first experiment, the experimental design was a randomized block in a factorial 4 × 6, four cultivars (Anta 82 RR®, BRS Favorita RR®, BRS 780 RR®, BRS 820 RR®) and six doses of A. brasilense (0, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700 mL ha-1), with three replications. In the second experiment, the experimental design was a randomized block design, arranged in a 4 × 2 factorial scheme, four cultivars (Anta 82 RR®, BRS Favorita RR®, BRS 780 RR®, BRS 820 RR®) and two treatments with A. brasilense (inoculated and non-inoculated) with three replications. For both experiments, it was established plant height, phytomass of the aerial part, plant height at harvest, first legume insertion, number of legumes, number of grains per legume, mass of one thousand grains and grain yield. In the study with foliar spraying of soybean with A. brasilense, plant height at harvest was the only variable that had a direct effect on soybean grain yield. As such, in the study with furrow inoculation of A. brasilense in soybean, plant height at harvest and number of vegetables were the variables with the greatest direct effects on soybean grain yield.

This study evaluated the forage mass, plant height, chemical composition and chlorophyll index of signal grass (Brachiaria decumbens cv. Basilisk), as well as the content of organic matter (OM) in soil under increasing levels of nitrogen. The experiment was conducted in the Rio Manso Farm, experimental unit of the Federal University of the Jequitinhonha and Mucuri Valleys - UFVJM in the municipality of Couto de Magalhães de Minas, state of Minas Gerais. For plant evaluation, we use a split plot randomized block design with four replications. Nitrogen levels (0, 25, 50, 75, 100 kg ha-1 N) were assigned to plots and the cuts made in plants, to subplots. For the assessment of soil organic matter, we used a split-split-plot, with nitrogen levels (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 kg ha-1 by cut) in the plots, collection depth (0-10 and 10-20 cm) in the subplots and three sampling times (before the onset of the experiment, at the end of the 1st crop year and at the end of the 2nd crop year) in sub-subplots in a randomized block design with four replications. It can be concluded that nitrogen fertilization linearly increases forage mass, plant height and crude protein content of signal grass, which are positively correlated with chlorophyll index. At the end of two agricultural years, the content of organic matter in the soil decreases, which can be attributed to management of cutting and removal of the cut material.

Increasing the productivity of soybeans in dry land can be done by designing a package of fertilizer technology based on biological materials using indigenous endomycorrhiza and Rhizobium. The application of indigenous endomycorrhizal biofertilizer combined with Rhizobium is expected to be able to improve nitrogen and phosporus uptake so as to increase the productivity of soybeans in dry land. The experiment used two-factor factorial randomized block design. The first factor was dose of endomycorrhizal spores of Glomus that consisted of four levels, namely, treatment without endomycorrhiza inoculation, dose of 50endomycorrhizal spores, dose of 100 endomycorrhizal spores, and dose of 150 endomycorrhizal spores. The second factor was inoculation of Rhizobium inoculum that consisted of two levels, namely, treatment without Rhizobium inoculation and Rhizobium inoculation. The results showed that combination of 50 endomycorrhizal spores with Rhizobium inoculation gave the best effect on the number of effective root nodules per plant, endomycorrhizal infection per plant, nutrient uptake by plant, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per plant, and oven-dry weight of seeds per plant.

Abstract This study aims to analyse the effect of three types of organic fertilizers on the vegetative growth several varieties of soybeans. This study used a factorial randomized block design with two treatment factors, namely organic fertilizers and varieties. The first factor is: organic fertilizer from 3 levels, namely: K1 (1.5 kg of compost), K2 (1.5 kg of goat manure), and K3 (1.5 kg of chicken manure). The second factor is: soybean plant varieties consist of 4 levels, namely: V1 (Dena 1), V2 (Devon 1), V3 (Anjasmoro) and V4 (Derap 1). The parameters observed were plant height, number of branches, number of leaves, amount of chlorophyll, leaf area, and flowering age. The results of our research is organic fertilizers have a significant effect and are able to increase the growth of soybean plants except for leaf area and flowering age. Types of varieties had a significant effect and were able to increase plant height, number of branches, leaf area, and flowering age, but had no significant effect on the parameters of the number of leaves and the amount of chlorophyll. Moreover, there isn't interaction effect between the two treatments for all parameters.

This study was conducted at Malaysia Agriculture Research and Development Institute (MARDI), Seberang Perai, Penang (Malaysia), that aims to examine the impacts of the application of Azolla pinnata on the growth and performance of rice of the MR 297 variety. The experiment consisted of five treatments: PK + Azolla (T1); NP + Azolla (T2); NK + Azolla (T3); NPK-Control (T4), and Azolla only (T5). Each treatment had four replicates. The experimental design used was a complete randomized block design (RCBD), and all data collected were analyzed using one-way ANOVA with a statistically significant 0.05% test. For the average soil analysis between the beginning and end, all soil analyses showed decreased soil properties except total N and organic carbon. There is a significant effect on the tiller, panicles, yields, plant height, and SPAD value in crop growth performance. There was no significant effect observed on N and P among plant nutrients. In contrast, there was a significant treatment effect on K. This study concluded that the soil treated with NK + Azolla showed a comparable result with soil treated with inorganic fertilizer only for the total yield.

Abstract One of the main problems of peanut planting in dry land is a lack of nitrogen and calcium availability. Efforts to increase the nitrogen and calcium availability for peanut farming in dry land is needed and one possible approach is by application of Rhizobium and calcium fertilizers. This research was conducted to determine the effect of the application of Rhizobium (Nodulin) and calcium fertilizers on growth and yield of peanut plants in dry land. Two experiments were conducted, one in a greenhouse using a completely randomized design and another experiment in the field using a randomized block design. The treatments were with the application of Nodulin, without Nodulin, with calcium fertilizer and without calcium fertilizer. The results showed that the application of calcium and Nodulin was able to increase the number of root nodules and peanut growth. Nodulin and calcium fertilizers increased the dry pod weight of 2.177 g per 6 m2 or 3.7 tons.ha-1. The application of Nodulin and calcium was also able to increase the nitrogen and calcium content of leaf tissue up to 18.9% and 20.9%, respectively.
