Background: Breast self-examination (BSE) is most sensitive and cost effective method to diagnose breast cancer at an early stage. The present study was aimed to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching program on the knowledge and practice regarding breast self-examination among college girls.Methods: A quasi-experimental study was conducted among college girls in the selected college, Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Bhilai from January 2012 to February 2012. Data was collected using a structured knowledge questionnaire and observation checklist and analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics in terms of frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, student’s t- test, ‘r’ value (Karl Pearson correlation of co-efficient) and chi square test.Results: Among the 30 college girls with 15in experimental group and 15in control group, majority (60%) of girls belongs to the age group of 19-20 years. After intervention, the mean post-test knowledge and practice score of college girls were significantly increased in experimental group (p=0.00). The mean post-test knowledge and practice score of college girls in experimental group was significantly higher than the control group (p=0.00). Moderate correlation was found between post-test knowledge and post-test practice (r=0.47) in experimental group. The post-test knowledge and practice of experimental group were significantly associated with age and area of residence.Conclusions: The present study demonstrated that the structured teaching program was effective in enhancing the knowledge and the practice of college girls regarding breast self-examination. So it is recommended that appropriate health education plan should be prepared for college girls to create awareness and motivate them to perform the BSE.

Abstract Background: Teaching is a profession where teachers are exposed to use their voice excessively in many situations which impose the risk for developing morbidity caused to larynx, among them the most common is laryngitis. However, I felt that there was great need for educating primary school teachers on Prevention and Management of Laryngitis. Objectives: To find the effectiveness of Video Assisted Teaching Program (VATP) on Knowledge regarding Prevention and Management of Laryngitis among Primary School Teachers. Materials and methods: Quasi-experimental research design was adopted for the study with purposive sampling technique to select the sample (N=60) with n=30 in experimental group and control group of primary school teachers respectively. A structured knowledge questionnaire was used to assess the Knowledge; VATP was administered only to experimental group to find its effectiveness in comparison with control group. The findings of the study revealed deficit in knowledge of primary school teachers before administration of VATP. Results: The mean percentage knowledge score of post-test (79.80 %) was higher than the pretest (39.30%). The calculated paired 't' value is greater than the table value (0.05, 29df) = 2.045. It showed a significant difference between mean pre and post- test knowledge scores among experimental group. The mean percentage of knowledge scores in post-test (79.80%) among experimental group was higher than the post-test (39.80%) among control group. The 2 calculated unpaired 't' value is greater than the table value (0.05,58df) = 1.96. Calculated ÷ values showed significant association between post-test knowledge scores of respondents with their selected demographic variables. Conclusion: VATP was effective in increasing the knowledge of primary school teachers on Prevention and Management of Laryngitis.

Introduction: Even though Nursing Personnel take active participation in ABG analysis and interpretation on regular basis, there is a scope for improvement to minimize errors and initiate prompt and appropriate interventions. The main aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of Structured Teaching Programme on ABG analysis and interpretation in terms of knowledge and practice of Nursing Personnel. Methods: Quantitative research approach and pre-test post-test control group design was used. Total enumeration sampling was used to select Nursing personnel working in Transplant ICU (Experimental group =22) and High Dependency Unit (control group = 25) of ILBS, New Delhi. Structured knowledge questionnaire and observation practice checklist was used to collect data. Results: Total 22.7 % of experimental group and 44 % of control group never attended any in-service education programme. Ahighly signicant difference was found between post-test knowledge scores of both groups (t = 6.79; p < 0.001) and post-test practice scores of both groups (t = 12.79; p < 0.001). Conclusion: STPwas effective in enhancing the knowledge and improving the practice of Nursing Personnel on ABG analysis and interpretation.


The purpose of the research was to investigatethe effect of activity-based games on the academic achievement of graduate-level pupils in social sciences.An experimental research design with a pre-and post-test control group was used in this study. As pre-test and post-test, MCQ achievement tests containing 70 items were used as research methods for data collecting. The initial stage in this initiative was to collect data on what inspires children to learn. Both groups took a pre-test, and the results were tallied.The project's second phase was to study the effects of variousactivities on academic achievement. Both groups were given an MCQ performance test. The T-test was used to analyze the data. The findings of this study demonstrated that, compared to the control group, mostpupils'marks improved in the experimental group. The mean value showedthat experimental group participants scored 18.77on the post-test, while control group students scored 16.21. According to a post-lesson poll, most students regarded activity-based games to be more engaging than lecture-based instruction.

The aim of this study was to know the effectiveness of the use of alphabet cards game as interesting tool to explain vocabularies and it make it easier to remember their meanings. This study belongs to the quasi experimental research and presents pre-test, post test and to investigate the effect of using alphabet cards game on vocabulary mastery of commercial business administration students. The participants were the students from commercial business administration students at the third semester (N=54) of State Polytechnic Bengkalis and divided into two groups. Both groups were taught vocabulary, however, the experimental group students who are exposed to alphabet cards game and the controlled group students who received conventional method. Pre-test and post-test were given to both experimental group students and controlled group students. The score of the vocabulary tests were compared through independent sample t-test. The mean value of pre-test of experimental class was 61.35, while the control class was 52.23. After learning using alphabet card games in experimental class the mean value obtained in post-test was 78.85, while in control class was 59.04.  The improved of learning outcomes can be seen from the level of significance was 0.000 and it was lower than t test 0.000<0.05.  It means that the hypothesis null is not accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the score of the students in learning vocabulary between the experimental group and control group was significantly different. The experimental group students who learned vocabulary using alphabet cards game had increased their vocabulary mastery.

The purpose of this study was to determine how much influence the cooperative learning model type student team's achievement division has on basketball shoot lay-up skills. The research method used in this research is a quasi-experimental method. The type of research design used was the non-equivalent group design. The population in this study were students of class XI SMA Negeri 1 Majalengka in 2019 totaling 424 students. The sampling technique used in this study was cluster random sampling technique. The sample in this study amounted to 214 students consisting of class XI IPS 1-4 and XI MIPA 7-8. The experimental group class XI IPS 1-2 and XI MIPA, control group class XI IPS 3-4 and XI MIPA 8. The results showed that the mean pre-test lay-up shoot of the experimental group was 4.09 while the control group was 3.92. The mean post-test shoot lay-up of the experimental group was 6.76 while the control group was 4.72. Furthermore, by looking at 95% confidence interval of the difference, there is a difference between the shoot lay-up results of the experimental group and the control group, which is -0.190 to 2.412. Thus, it can be concluded that STAD is effective in improving basketball shoot lay-up skills.

Making connections between the representations of trigonometric functions and an interpretation of graphs of the functions are major challenges to many students. This study explores the effectiveness of the GeoGebra on grade 12 students’ success in making connections between the representations of trigonometric functions and the interpretation of graphs. A non-equivalent control-group pre-test post-test quasi-experimental design was used. The sample of the study consisted of sixty-one grade 12 students from two schools. The results showed that there was a statistically significant difference between the mean achievements of the experimental group and the control group on making connections between representations of trigonometric functions, and on analyses and interpretations of representations of trigonometric functions, in favour of the experimental group. This study extends the findings of previous studies on the effectiveness of dynamic mathematics software on students’ learning of representations and interpretation of graphs of trigonometric functions.            Keywords: GeoGebra, functions graphs, Trigonometric functions

This quasi-experimental study involves the experimental and control group which consist of 60 students in first year of SMA Muhammadiyah Sidenreng Rappang   2019/2020 academic year.  The reading test is used to collect data to find out do the students can achieve significant result in reading test using Text-based Character. Based on the result the mean score of the experimental group pre-test was 72.67 and classified into good classification, while the control group was 69.63 classified into good. The mean score of the post-test after treatment for the experimental group was 82.43 (very good) while the control group was 76.53, (good) classification still.  The researcher found that the T-table is higher than the t-test (α) (1.659<2.021). It means that there is a significant difference in the pre-test of the control and experimental group, while in post-test of an experimental and control group, the researcher finds that the T-test is higher than the alpha and previous score in the the pre-test (α) (3.089>2.021). The degree of freedom is 58. This study reveals that the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted, and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. This is means that the use of Text-based Characters can improves students' reading skills in significant way.

This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a developed writing module on enhancing the General Foundation Program students’ writing skills. The study made use of a pre-test and post-test quasi-experimental design. The study participants incorporated 70 Omani students and 2 EFL teachers. The students were divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group incorporated 35 students who studied English at the General Foundation Program of Sur Nursing Institute. The control group involved 35 students who took an English course at The General Foundation Program Centre in Muscat. Both institutions function under the auspices of the Omani Ministry of Health. The control group studied the ministry’s writing syllabus, whereas the experimental group studied the writing module. The writing pre-test was done before module delivery and the post-test was done after the intervention. ANCOVA test was utilized to draw a statistical analogy between the mean scores of tests of both groups. The test findings divulged that there was a statistically significant mean difference between the control and experimental group’s scores in the writing post-test. The module significantly enhanced the experimental group’s writing skills.

This study aimed at investigating of the effect of using word family game committed by the fifth grade student in SD Negeri 1 Astina in mastering the English vocabulary. This study was True-Experimental with post-test only control group design. The population was 59 students of the fifth grade and the sample was selected by using cluster random sampling. The sample of this research study was 22 students in 5A as an Experimental Group while 22 students in 5B as a Control Group. The experimental group was taught by using Word Family Game and control group was taught without using Word Family Game. The data was analyzed descriptively and inferentially through SPSS 16.0 Program. Descriptively, the students in experimental group were achieved better than the students in control group. It was proven by the result of the mean score of the experimental group was 90.45, while the mean score of control group was 83.18. The result of the t-test also showed that the score of the (tobs) was 3.393 which the score of (tcv) was 1.682 which based on the degree of freedom was 42. It showed that the (tobs) > (tcv), where: 3.393 > 1.682. It could be concluded that the word family game had a significant effect on the students’ vocabulary mastery rather than using conventional teaching.

Pictures use in an educational setting fits the idiom: old but gold. There have been plenty of studies revealing how good the use of pictures in the classrooms is. Pictures have been long known to have the ability to help motivate, demonstrate, and instruct the students during a learning process. This study is a sort of complement to the phenomenon as it focuses on researching the use of pictures in a classroom. Specifically, it aims at finding out the effectiveness of the use of picture cues in teaching writing.The study belongs to experimental research involving two groups of experiment and control. The eighth-grade students of a private junior high school in Central Java Indonesia are chosen as the subject of the research during 2017/2018 academic year. Employing a sample population technique, the study involves a total number of 56 students who are equally divided into 28 students as the experimental group and 28 students as the control group. The experimental group is taught using picture cues while the control group is taught without picture cues. Pre-test and post-test are used as techniques to collect the data. As for the data analysis technique, it’s done quantitatively applying both descriptive and inferential statistics.The result of the research shows that there is a significant difference in the students’ writing ability between those taught using picture cues and those who are not. This can be seen from the difference in the mean score between them. The result of the pre-test shows that at the beginning, both experimental and control groups have slightly different ability in writing with the mean scores 51.32 and 47.86 respectively. Meanwhile, the result of the post-test indicates an obvious difference between them in which the experimental group gains 65.75 as its mean score and the control group gets 59.14. Furthermore, the application of Independent t-test calculation results in a score of 0.000, which is lower than 0.05. This means that the use of picture cues is effective. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the use of picture cues is effective to teach writing to students.
