Using content analysis, this study tries to describe in depth the information content of Duta Damai community in East Kalimantan. The results of the study indicate that Duta Damai of East Kalimantan conducted counter-narratives of negative content on social media through opinions and statuses on social media, including: (1) alignment of Pancasila ideology with religious teachings, (2) revealing facts and education related to hoaxes ( 3) multicultural education campaigns and respect for differences, (4) actualization of the contemporary jihad. These four things are in line with the idea of Islamic, meaning that the community actualizes the idea of Islamic moderation in every campaign activity and movement. Through the tagline 'peace is Indonesia', Duta Damai of East Kalimantan want youth groups to actively campaign for the importance of positive speech and behavior and spread peaceful movement, both in the cyberspace and in the real world.

AbstractDuring August and September 2012, Sino-Japanese conflict over the Diaoyu/Senkaku Islands escalated. Alongside street demonstrations in China, there was an outpouring of public sentiment on China's leading micro-blog, Sina Weibo (微波). Using human and computer-assisted content analysis, we exploit original Weibo data to measure how public sentiment in China fluctuated over the dispute, and ask two questions. First, how cohesive and volatile were online nationalist sentiments? Second, we measure government censorship of Weibo in order to ask which sentiments did authorities allow to be expressed, and when? We first find that many of the micro-bloggers' harshest invective was directed not at Japan but at their own government. Second, while censorship remained high across topics for most of the dispute, it plummeted on 18 August – the same day as bloggers' anger at Beijing peaked. These observations suggest three theoretical explanations: two are instrumental-strategic (“audience costs” and “safety valve”) and one is ideational (elite identification with protesters).

We examine the role of overconfidence in news judgment using two large nationally representative survey samples. First, we show that three in four Americans overestimate their relative ability to distinguish between legitimate and false news headlines; respondents place themselves 22 percentiles higher than warranted on average. This overconfidence is, in turn, correlated with consequential differences in real-world beliefs and behavior. We show that overconfident individuals are more likely to visit untrustworthy websites in behavioral data; to fail to successfully distinguish between true and false claims about current events in survey questions; and to report greater willingness to like or share false content on social media, especially when it is politically congenial. In all, these results paint a worrying picture: The individuals who are least equipped to identify false news content are also the least aware of their own limitations and, therefore, more susceptible to believing it and spreading it further.

This study aimed to analyse practices of digital vigilantism on social media amid intergroup conflict. Researchers explored Facebook accounts of several groups that are often involved in a conflict. This study used a qualitative content analysis method. The results revealed that digital vigilantism practices found were security, supervision, control, discipline, and punishment of one group against other groups through social media, where punishment, i.e. name-calling, and shaming are the most common practices, so that conflicts from the virtual world lead to conflicts in the real world.

Each gender is having special personality and behavior characteristics that can be naturally reflected in the language used on social media to review, spread information, make relationships, etc. This information is used by different agencies for their profits. The magnified study of this information can reflect the implicit biases of their creators' gender. The ratio of gender is imbalanced across the global world, social media, discussion, etc. Twitter is used to discuss the issues caused by COVID-19 disease like its symptoms, mental health, advice, etc. This fascinating information motivated this research to propose the methodology gender-based tweet analysis (GTA) to study and magnify gender's impact on emotions of tweet data. The analysis of the experiment discovered the biases of gender on emotions of tweet data and highlighted the future real-world applications which may become more productive if gender biases are considered for the safety and benefit of society.

Çalışmanın sonuçları doğrultusunda medyada sığınmacılar hakkında çıkan haberlerde olumsuz ve şiddet temalı haberlerin azaltılması, Suriyeli sığınmacıların durumu, sahip oldukları haklar ve topluma yansımaları hakkında doğru ve bilgilendirici kamu spotları hazırlanması ayrıca sığınmacıların topluma entegre olma sürecinin her basamağında daha planlı ve etkili bir yol izlenmesi önerilebilir.ABSTRACT IN ENGLISHPerceptions about Syrian refugees on social media: an evaluation of a social media platformIn this research, posts which are about Syrian refugees were published in a social media platform, called as “sözlük” were investigated. BACKGROUND Adolescents with depression often turn to social media to express their feelings, for support, and for educational purposes. Little is known about how Reddit, a forum-based platform, compares to Twitter, a newsfeed platform, when it comes to content surrounding depression. OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study is to identify differences between Reddit and Twitter concerning how depression is discussed and represented online. METHODS A content analysis of Reddit posts and Twitter posts, using r/depression and #depression, identified signs of depression using the DSM-IV criteria. Other youth-related topics, including School, Family, and Social Activity, and the presence of medical or promotional content were also coded for. Relative frequency of each code was then compared between platforms as well as the average DSM-IV score for each platform. RESULTS A total of 102 posts were included in this study, with 53 Reddit posts and 49 Twitter posts. Findings suggest that Reddit has more content with signs of depression with 92% than Twitter with 24%. 28.3% of Reddit posts included medical content compared to Twitter with 18.4%. 53.1% of Twitter posts had promotional content while Reddit posts didn’t contain promotional content. CONCLUSIONS Users with depression seem more willing to discuss their mental health on the subreddit r/depression than on Twitter. Twitter users also use #depression with a wider variety of topics, not all of which actually involve a case of depression.

This article engages with recent discussions in the field of technical communication that call for climate change research that moves beyond the believer/denier dichotomy. For this study, our research team coded 900 tweets about climate change and global warming for different emotions in order to understand how Twitter users rely on affect rhetorically. Our findings use quantitative content analysis to challenge current assumptions about writing and affect on social media, and our results indicate a number of arenas for future research on affect, global warming, and rhetoric.
