Abstract. The transformation of the energy sector towards the development of the green energy sector provides a transition to climate-neutral economic development. In the presence of reserves of natural energy sources, a tendency towards a decrease in their use is monitored as a result of an increase in the share of consumption of green energy obtained from renewable energy sources (e.g. solar, wind). Taking this into account, the role of building an effective management model for the provision of green energy services is growing. The article proposes a methodological approach to assessing the effectiveness of the management model for promoting green energy services in the context of smart energy network development, based on the use of optimization methods and models. The promoting chain of green energy services is based on the rating assessment of energy service companies, the level of digitalization of business processes of enterprises and the formation of digital skills among consumers of various segments of the energy market, as well as a cybernetic approach to determining the ability to provide innovative energy services. For this, the peculiarities of artificial intelligence integration into socio-economic processes and the smart energy network constructions have been identified. The analysis of digital technology use level in the promotion of green energy services in the energy market of Ukraine is carried out. The determination of optimization criteria for assessing the effectiveness of the management model for promoting green energy services has been established. The determination of the optimization criteria for assessing the management model is based on obtaining an ecological effect, which made it possible to single out such criteria as maximizing the decarbonization rate of the environment and minimizing energy consumption costs. The using of such a methodological approach to assessing the effectiveness of the management model for promoting green energy services at energy enterprises will help to ensure a balance between production, distribution, supply of green energy and rational consumption of energy by different segments of consumers. Keywords: energy efficiency, energy saving, alternative energy, renewable energy sources, green electric power industry, energy enterprises, decarbonization. The development of energy from renewable sources is one of the most important aspects of today’s energy industry. The level of this development (production of green energy) is determined by the use of a variety of methods, e.g., the methods of multicriteria and multivariate analysis. The effectiveness of these methods is affected by many factors, and one of them is the appearance of non-typical objects (outliers). This paper investigates the effectiveness of selected methods (TOPSIS, VIKOR, VMCM) in terms of computational robustness to outlier objects. The most effective method in this respect (VMCM) is then applied to study the level of development of renewable energy sources in European countries. The presented research provides the opportunity to carry out a dynamic analysis (for selected base years) of the level of energy generation from diverse renewable sources in reference to the adopted patterns and anti-patterns (European countries). The obtained results are discussed, thus confirming the effectiveness of the proposed methodological approach.

The study analyzed the current state and perspective directions of development of electric power complex of Ukraine. The problematic issues that have accumulated over many decades are highlighted. In particular, one of the main threats to the normal functioning of the electric power industry is a small proportion of maneuvering, peak and half-peak capacities. An analysis of the main events that took place during 2018-early 2020 in the electricity sector of Ukraine was conducted. The main tasks defined by the Energy Strategy of Ukraine for the period up to 2035 were considered. The analysis of legislative initiatives, in particular, requirements and improvement of the law “On Electric Energy Market”, the principles of work and basic requirements for the created Electricity Transmission System Operator was carried out. The reasons for the Guaranteed Buyer’s debt on electricity market to producers working at the “green” tariff have been determined. An analysis of the so-called “Gerus amendment” was carried out. This amendment allowed import of electricity from Russian Federation. The main threats to the introduction of market relations in a monopolized electric energy market were also identified. An analysis of the development of renewable energy sector was conducted. Since 2015, sector has increased its installed capacity from 701 megawatt to 5.4 gigawatt, or almost eight times. The main threats that can be realized with an increase in green energy capacities were analyzed. It was determined that the cost of supplying one kilowatt-hour of electric energy from renewable energy sources is much higher than from other sources. As a result of this, the share of energy from renewable energy sources in the tariff structure is many times higher than the share in the generation structure. A review of legislative innovations to limit the development of renewable energy sources was conducted. The article also analyzed data of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine regarding the dynamics of electricity prices for all categories of consumers, taking into account transportation and distribution services

In this study we aimed to determine the extent to which changes in the share of renewable energy sources, their structural complex, and the level of energy security in Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia (EECCA) countries in the medium- and long-term are interconnected. The study was performed through modeling and determination of the structural characteristics of energy security in the countries. The methodology of the approach to modeling was based on solving the problem of nonlinear optimization by selecting a certain scenario. For the study, the data of EECCA countries were used. The ability of EECCA countries to benefit from long-term indirect and induced advantages of the transformation period depends on the extent to which their domestic supply chains facilitate the deployment of energy transformation and induced economic activity. This study provides an opportunity to assess the degree of influence of renewable energy sources on the level of energy security of countries in the context of energy resource diversification. The high degree of influence of renewable energy sources on energy security in the EECCA countries has been proven in the implementation of the developed scenarios for its increase. Energy security is growing. At the same time, its level depends not only on an increase in the share of renewable sources but also on the structure of energy resources complex of countries, and the development of various renewable energy sources. Therefore, today the EECCA countries are forced not only to increase the share of renewable energy sources but also to attach strategic importance to the structural content of their energy complex.

System strength is an important concept in the integration of renewable energy sources (RESs). However, evaluating system strength is becoming more ambiguous due to the interaction of RESs. This paper proposes a novel scheme to define the actual interaction boundaries of RESs using the power flow tracing strategy. Based on the proposed method, the interaction boundaries of RESs were identified at the southwest side of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) systems. The test results show that the proposed approach always provides the identical interaction boundaries of RESs in KEPCO systems, compared to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) method. The consistent boundaries could be a guideline for power-system planners to assess more accurate system strength, considering the actual interactions of the RESs.

The article considers the legal basis for the formation and development of the country's energy sector, in particular, the issue of energy production from renewable sources, among which the leading place belongs to wind energy. The tendencies of the world energy market, which minimize the negative impact on the environment, as well as the tendencies of development of this branch in Ukraine are investigated. It was stated that for our country wind energy is one of the strategic directions of development of the sector of alternative energy sources, given the high dependence of the country on imported energy, primarily natural gas, and significant potential for wind power, taking into account the location, climate and terrain. However, unfortunately, the pace of development of wind energy in Ukraine still lags significantly behind European ones. It is noted that the legislative provision of the use of wind energy in Ukraine as a source of alternative energy is characterized primarily by the number of bylaws, general declarative legislation, as well as some inconsistencies in legal regulation. An analysis of current legislation and a number of regulations governing the development of the industry in general and wind energy in particular. A review of the norms that relate purely to the issues of the research area and their features and direction of legal regulation. In addition, it was stressed that Ukraine's accession to European initiatives, as well as borrowing international experience in this area should positively affect the energy balance and ensure the development of the sector, in particular, in the light of the need to create a full competitive environment in Ukraine's energy market; changes in heat generation by renewable energy sources and the full transformation of coal regions, which means the gradual closure of unprofitable enterprises with the parallel creation of alternative jobs in these regions.

Abstract Increasing the share of renewable energy sources is one of the core policies of the European Union. This is because of the fact that this energy is essential in reducing the greenhouse gas emissions and securing energy supplies. Currently, the share of wind energy from all renewable energy sources is relatively low. The choice of location for a certain wind farm installation strongly depends on the wind potential. Therefore the accurate assessment of wind potential is extremely important. In the present paper an analysis is made on the impact of significant possible parameters on the determination of wind energy potential for relatively large areas. In the analysis the type of measurements (short- and long-term on-site measurements), the type of instrumentation and the terrain roughness factor are considered. The study on the impact of turbulence on the wind flow distribution over complex terrain is presented, and it is based on the real on-site data collected by the meteorological tall towers installed in the northern part of Bulgaria. By means of CFD based software a wind map is developed for relatively large areas. Different turbulent models in numerical calculations were tested and recommendations for the usage of the specific models in flows modeling over complex terrains are presented. The role of each parameter in wind map development is made. Different approaches for determination of wind energy potential based on the preliminary developed wind map are presented.

Renewable energy sources (RESs) are becoming increasingly important day by day to tranquilize the world’s energy crisis and consume fossil fuels in the lower rung. A microgrid system that assimilates clean and green energy-based sources such as solar, wind, and biogas is acquiring much prominence over the conventional grid-based power systems in this day and age. For the up and running of the inexhaustible energy sources in the AC power network, numerous conversions of the power sources occur. In the process of conversion, some amount of power is lost, which minimizes conversion efficiency. However, with the increasing use of DC loads and Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), DC Microgrid could be more beneficial than the conventional AC power system by avoiding several types of drawbacks. This paper demonstrates an efficient system of digitally controlled boost converter for the parallel operation in DC microgrid. Here, the converter of 2.5kW 400V is designed and implemented to validate its functioning in a Microgrid. The whole system has been simulated in MATLAB with an input voltage range of 220–380 V. It has been found that the designed converter can maintain the desired output voltage in the DC Busbar at and around 400 V. Finally, some simulation results have been presented to analyze the converter’s operational characteristics and effectiveness in the practical domain.

This study aims to estimate and explore the experience of introducing renewable energy use in the context of the world’s smart cities. In this regard, the study points out that the use of green energy is an important part of sustainable development. Environmental problems are a matter of global concern. Hence sustainable development is one of the approaches to end the harmful anthropogenic impact. The work includes quantitative assessment methods, for example, statistics, quantitative analysis, analogy, and synthesis. As a result, the analysis confirms that the effective development of a smart green city is impossible without the introduction of several renewable energy sources, the integrated use of which will reduce the likelihood of problems with the city’s energy supply. Likewise, the outcome accentuates that the desire to fully switch to renewable energy sources (RES) can be accompanied by several problems as the creation of RES technologies does not always take the risk of abnormal situations into account. In conclusion, the research findings are recommended to be taken into consideration by researchers in the field of smart and sustainable cities development, as well as urbanists and economists for designing future smart green cities based on renewable energy sources.

Today, the scope of energy services markets (ESMs) has expanded worldwide and covered almost all areas of production and consumption of goods and services for both industrial and public appointments, as well as households, mainly due to energy efficiency and renewable energy sources. At the same time, the incompleteness of theoretically grounded bases significantly reduces the pace of these markets development. The purpose of this study is to present the framework for the determination of directions and construct a model of structural organization and functional interaction of the ESMs participants. Such approach allows, by combining resources, capabilities and information, to expand the scope and improve the efficiency and productivity of energy services. A new structure-function model of ESMs participants’ interaction has been developed. In addition, a new organizational mechanism is proposed to support the efficient functioning of the ESMs in the form of a cycle of continuous improvement of the energy services results. The practical significance of the study is to create a conceptual framework for the organization and functioning of ESMs, which allows to systemically assess the new opportunities for such markets in both developed and developing countries.
