The article deals with the main problems of youth in Russia in the current time. Attention is drawn to the excessive fascination of teenagers with social networks and the Internet, their loss of the adequate spiritual values in life, total childrens’ dependence on gadgets, cyberbullying, the lack of commitment to self-development and self-knowledge. As the solutions, the authors suggest the development of sociable abilities to the young people, the education of the desire for the personal growth and awareness of the responsibility for their actions. The necessity of reading books by the younger generation, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, playing sports and tourism activities, and engaging in a certain hobby is noted.

The Internet provides a space for network users to communicate freely. The desire of network users to express their thoughts, imagination and self-knowledge is reflected in the slang on the Internet and social networks. The language of the Internet appeared as a product of the network, formed its own characteristics in the process of use and acquired its own pragmatic function. These qualities have made it an important tool of modern communication and a cultural carrier.The pragmatic approach to the recipient of information is an important function of any language communication. Although the root of Chinese Internet slang comes from Chinese, it gives a completely different meaning and character as a network language than literal, which requires a pragmatic study to understand. From the point of view of the speaker and the listener, people's speech actions are considered as social behavior governed by various social conditions. It is aimed at explaining that the use of special words in a particular environment can determine the meaning of the text, affect all aspects, and thus determine the pragmatic rules. Before using a slang word, any network user should pay attention to its meaning, as it can also have a negative connotation.

Internet is a mean of mass information and fulfills the traditional functions of a public space without doubts. Participation in the virtual space is defined as a problematic use of the Internet process which damages the disadvantaged young person's personality, which is already characterized by a lack of social skills, communication, feelings of expression issues. The majority of young people are attracted by internet space, by its anonymity and availability. The aim of the research is to analyze the influence of gender and family aspects in online participation of teenagers at social risk. The research showed that the internet provides the great and additional opportunities to teenagers at social risk, something they don’t get in their families. Children living with grandparents or with only one parent are more active users of Internet social networks in comparison with other children. They seldom recognize the Internet dangers and more quickly become emotionally dependent on the Internet. The adults’ control or its absence determines the expression and frequency of online participation of teenagers at social risk. The girls more frequently recognize the dangers of virtual space than the boys do; but the girls use to publish more information about themselves. The research results show that the participation of teenagers at social risk in social networks is unconscious. Young people are not able to “filter” and select proper information, usually equate the virtual world with reality. Online participation of teenagers is reasoned by satisfaction of needs, parents’ inattention and search for new acquaintances.

The purpose of the article is to reveal the features of constructing a personal identity in a virtual environment. Methodology. The choice of research methods is determined by the purpose of the article and the subject of research, in particular, general scientific and empirical techniques are used, based on a systematic approach to the analysis of works on the problems of interpretation of virtual identity. The scientific novelty of the obtained research results lies in the correlation of the essence of the concepts "real identity" and "virtual identity", identifying the features and risks of the formation of the latter. The article highlights the factors of human construction of a "virtual" identity, which often occurs due to dissatisfaction of the individual with his real identity. It is emphasized that virtual reality provides ample opportunities for self-expression and disclosure of personal potential, but the desire to always "be online" affects the physical health of the user, thereby increasing his anxiety, leads to fatigue and irritability, exacerbation of hyperdynamic. The problem of excessive immersion in cyberspace has been identified: by abusing being in it, an unformed personality can lose life landmarks, assimilate programmed solutions and ready-made mental stamps. Conclusions. In social networks, a person can easily create an ideal image of himself, which is less authentic than the real one, because it reflects the individual's idea of an invented, ideal set of their own qualities, which are completed with ready visual, textual and audio network tools. Social "slowing down" in the Internet environment significantly reduces the moral level of communication in social networks and messengers. Even today, the level of trust among young people in semi-anonymous messages on the Internet is higher than in traditional sources of information. At the same time, the unsystematic acquisition of knowledge in this way does not allow young people to form an established picture of the world, leaving it largely fragmented.

This article addresses extremism and terrorism as forms of violent actions, intense recruitment of individuals into the rank-and-file membership of organized formations and using those individuals as direct perpetrators of unlawful acts, as well as most common psychological traps for engaging into international terrorist organizations. It has been noted that extremism and terrorism have become a serious challenge for the modern world, increasingly threatening the security of many countries. A mechanism is outlined for drawing individuals into international terrorist organizations using social networks. The article describes in detail that most vulnerable to suggestions are teenagers, young people who haven't found their place in life and who have psychological problems, young girls who haven't been successful in their personal lives and of those who use the internet for games. Additionally, the article raises the issue of fighting against the modern-day terrorism which makes use of various tools to bring into play the recruits and make them perform terrorist acts. Strategies of fighting against terrorists are described.

The purpose of this chapter is to analyse luxury fashion brands' interactions with consumers, especially on social media. In this sense, we firstly propose a hypothesis relative to how luxury fashion brands can use celebrities (in general, and particularly music and TV idols) and social media to influence on young consumer behaviour. Lately, we try to response this question through a case study based on one of the most South Korean luxury fashion brands. Using members of social media has been a constant in brand strategy. Especially when targeting the young audience. They big consumers and fans of music and audio-visual entertainment products, show a high level of loyalty. This leads them to copy the behaviour and consumption of the same products and brands of their idols. They are big users of social media and the Internet, where they express their feelings, experiences and opinions about their music idols as well as the brands and products they use. This being the case, technology offers empowerment to young people. This allows them not only access to more information but allows the possibility to create their own new content. Thus both roles are important regarding branding. We can use the example of how Korean luxury fashion brands and how they use young music idols to establish a strong emotional relationship with their consumers. They do this by increasing their participation and involvement with their brands in social networks.

The paper is devoted to clarification of the nature of vulnerability of Russian youth to extremist materials on the Internet. The author notes, that current research practice of using of Internet in the process of distribution of extremist materials among Russian youth is partly limited. Most of the researches focus on the analysis of content of such materials or on the tracking of mechanisms of their distribution, but not on the analysis of underlying reasons for which it becomes possible to replicate them. Basing on the materials of his own research, the author seeks to overcome this ambiguity and tries to identify the key reasons why Russian young people become potentially sensitive to extremist materials on the Internet. The key conclusion of the analysis is that the sensitivity of young people to such materials appears because of modalities of their behavior on the Internet. The remarkable activity in using the Internet and social networks makes them an accessible addressee of the distribution of extremist materials. And at the same time their desire for entertainment and openness increase the sensitivity to the materials of such content.

The rapid appropriation of mobile phone technology by young people is occurring at the same time as critics are debating the so-called demise of community, purportedly as a result of our increasingly technologised and globalised society. Opposing theorists, however, argue that the notion of community is itself nebulous and that it represents an imagined ideal rather than a vanishing reality. Thus, they argue, it follows that debates about the greater authenticity of “real,” face-to-face communities over “virtual communities”—those centered on technological rather than geographical links —are based on a false premise. This chapter argues that young people today are utilizing mobile phones—sometimes in combination with the Internet—to establish and maintain social networks combining both their geographically present and absent peers. These networks are mobile, heavily reliant on technology and are comprised of a mix of “real” and “virtual” communication. They are also characterized by a sense of belonging to a group—a concept integral to the notion of community.

Subject. Due to increasingly widespread information and communication technologies, the Internet plays a special role in young people’s lives as a means of communication, a source of information, a way of leisure activities, a tool for buying goods. This necessitates a comprehensive study of the phenomenon. Objectives. The study aims to analyze social networks as the main modern means of communication, explore the sources of Internet information, used by young people, consider how they used the Internet in their leisure time and for online purchases in 2020, compare and analyze the indicators of using the Internet by young people and the all-Russian indicators of using the electronic network by all age categories. Methods. The study employs statistical methods of data collection, summing up and generalizing the primary statistics, methods of analyzing the findings and materials published in scientific papers and mass media. Results. The paper defines the goals of using the Internet by young people, their priorities, preferences regarding the social networks, ways of entertainment and leisure, using the Internet, the attitude of young people to online shopping in 2020. Conclusions. Young people start to realize that the Internet cannot fully replace real communication, provide for their educational and cultural needs.

The paper presents the results of a study of strategies for transferring the meanings and the value orientations of young people in social networks. The Internet is so firmly rooted in our everyday life that we can no longer imagine our life without it. It is penetrating into an increasing number of human life spheres, becoming the environment in which communication, educational and work processes, leisure and shopping take place. Its hard not to notice that the youth audience is especially interested in the virtual environment. The Internet and, in particular, social networks are becoming the environment that influences the formation and development of society, the dissemination of ideas, news, trends. On the Internet, one can observe both the amazing consolidation of users who are able to create a news agenda, and the disunity of many contradictory judgments, meanings and forms of their presentation. The purpose of this study is to identify the strategies for the translation of meanings that Internet users resort to when commenting on posts on social networks, and to study the value orientations of young people using various strategies for the translation of meanings. The study includes the authors questionnaire, the method of diagnosing M. Rokichs value orientations, methods of mathematical statistics (H-Kruskal-Wallis criterion, 22-criterion). Terminal and instrumental values characteristic of the 6 strategies of meanings transferring have been determined; the strategies most often used by users with abstract and concrete terminal values are revealed. The research helps to understand how the transferring of meanings takes place in a network and according to which characteristics of the value sphere users with different strategies for the meanings transferring differ.

The relevance of this paper is due to the fact that in conditions of an overabundance of diverse information, there is a problem of its adequate perception. New forms of communication – the Internet and social networks – give not only new opportunities for communication and expression of the opinion, but they also create many vulnerabilities, ways of manipulating public opinion and consciousness. These questions are especially relevant for educators working with young people, whose worldview is in the process of formation, whose opinions, points of view are unstable, are influenced from outside, and mainly from Internet resources. The purpose of this article is to analyze and summarize the experience of working with students in the context of the development of critical thinking by the example of the study of comments on video messages on the YouTube channel. The description of the practical stages of the teacher-students interaction is given in accordance with the technology of teaching critical thinking. The role of the teacher and students in this process is determined. It is shown that the materials uploaded on popular Internet resources can and should be used not only for a purely practical, objective purpose, but also at a general educational, developing, worldview level, with the goal of forming critical thinking of Internet users.
