The relevance of this paper is due to the fact that in conditions of an overabundance of diverse information, there is a problem of its adequate perception. New forms of communication – the Internet and social networks – give not only new opportunities for communication and expression of the opinion, but they also create many vulnerabilities, ways of manipulating public opinion and consciousness. These questions are especially relevant for educators working with young people, whose worldview is in the process of formation, whose opinions, points of view are unstable, are influenced from outside, and mainly from Internet resources. The purpose of this article is to analyze and summarize the experience of working with students in the context of the development of critical thinking by the example of the study of comments on video messages on the YouTube channel. The description of the practical stages of the teacher-students interaction is given in accordance with the technology of teaching critical thinking. The role of the teacher and students in this process is determined. It is shown that the materials uploaded on popular Internet resources can and should be used not only for a purely practical, objective purpose, but also at a general educational, developing, worldview level, with the goal of forming critical thinking of Internet users.

Now is the time when everything is developing rapidly. Many things have been transformed within a short period of time. With the development of technology, people also began to change. A person who spends a lot of time on the Internet loses, first, itself. Mental health and attitude of the person to the surrounding world are changing too. The worst thing is that the person becomes addicted to the Internet, goes away from real life, and completely immerses himself in the world of the Internet. Therefore, we must not allow Internet addiction. Otherwise, we are risking shortening our already short life and turn it into meaningless existence. Television, the Internet, and social networks have been in the process of integration, that is, at the stage of involvement, for almost 15 years. The way of using them is for everyone’s personal matter; someone may correctly use Internet resources; others may abuse them. The Internet should be considered as a source of information, not as a competitor. The matter is that journalism is always in need of innovation. Kazakh ancestors said: Keep up with the times, that is, do not stay behind. So that, journalism should move with the times, taking a place on the front line. Only those media organizations that unite both sides may be a few steps ahead.

It is penetrating into an increasing number of human life spheres, becoming the environment in which communication, educational and work processes, leisure and shopping take place. Its hard not to notice that the youth audience is especially interested in the virtual environment. The Internet and, in particular, social networks are becoming the environment that influences the formation and development of society, the dissemination of ideas, news, trends. On the Internet, one can observe both the amazing consolidation of users who are able to create a news agenda, and the disunity of many contradictory judgments, meanings and forms of their presentation. The purpose of this study is to identify the strategies for the translation of meanings that Internet users resort to when commenting on posts on social networks, and to study the value orientations of young people using various strategies for the translation of meanings. The study includes the authors questionnaire, the method of diagnosing M. Rokichs value orientations, methods of mathematical statistics (H-Kruskal-Wallis criterion, 22-criterion). Terminal and instrumental values characteristic of the 6 strategies of meanings transferring have been determined; the strategies most often used by users with abstract and concrete terminal values are revealed. The research helps to understand how the transferring of meanings takes place in a network and according to which characteristics of the value sphere users with different strategies for the meanings transferring differ.

The article is devoted to an urgent pedagogical problem – the influence of the Internet on the socialization of student youth in modern conditions, which determined the purpose and objectives of the article: to characterize the role of the Internet in the formation of values and attitudes of student youth, the development of Internet-dependent behavior. To achieve the goal, the following research methods were used: literature analysis on the problem under study, express survey and testing, comparative analysis of the results. This problem is considered taking into account the increasing importance of electronic resources in the context of digitalization of modern society. The characteristics of the main concepts of the problem under study are given: socialization, student youth, the Internet, etc. The approaches to defining the place of the Internet as the main means of communication and information for young people are reflected. The authors present the results of a comprehensive monitoring study conducted in recent years among the students of the Dorzhi Banzarov Buryat State University. On the basis of the primary data of the study the actual characteristics of the problem under study are highlighted: the goals and reasons for visiting the Internet (communication in social networks, information search, entertainment, studies), the respondents’ evaluation of the impact of the Internet as more positive than negative. The study of the value orientations of modern student youth showed that the respondents choose the main traditional values: family, health, love, self-development. Thus, the peculiarities of the influence of the Internet on the socialization of student youth are presented as follows: the main purpose of visiting the Internet is to communicate in social networks; young people are quite aware of the role of Internet influence; the main life values of the young generation retain a traditional character; a significant proportion of respondents have formed and stable Internet addictive behavior. The analysis of the results obtained shows that the use of the Internet as the main means of communication and information does not, in general, have a negative impact on the formation of values and attitudes of student youth, but contributes to the development of Internet-dependent behavior. Keywords: socialization, student youth, the Internet, value orientations, Internet-dependent behavior

As we approach the new millennium a new dimension in interactive communications has arrived. The internet is one such medium, and while it remains a relatively new form of information sharing, it has not escaped the attention of vulnerable young people. This paper discusses the internet resources on suicide and the issue of interactive suicide notes. Case examples of interactive notes followed by suicide fatalities are used to illustrate the potential influence of the internet on those who wish to share their suicidal ideation with others. Issues to do with modeling, ambivalence, group death wishes, research, and ethics are discussed. Finally, some recommendations are made for further studies.

The secrecy of the Chinese Internet makes it a unique ecosystem that operates separately from world trends. Along with the development of original social networks in China, Internet memes have entered the media arena, which not only broadcast the mood of network users but also preserve significant cultural and social phenomena. Currently, the field of Internet memes as cultural retransmitters in the Chinese-language media space is unexplored by Ukrainian scientists, which determines the relevance of this article. The main goal of the paper is to study the cultural phenomena that migrated to the Internet in the form of memes, their origin and structure. The object of the study is the 30 Internet memes that, according to the National Center for Monitoring and Study of National Language Resources of the People's Republic of China, were most popular in Chinese social networks in 2017-2019. On the example of three popular memes: 皮皮虾, 我们走 (shrimp, let's go), 确认过眼神 (I can see by the look in the eyes), 996工作制 (working system 996) we traced the history of memes, and summarize them by this structure: meme type + source + function. Also, the following features of Internet memes were highlighted and suggested: virality, emotionality, relevance, humour and media. Internet memes have become a real megaphone for ordinary citizens who are not afraid to discuss diverse topics, even despite all the secrecy and censorship of the Chinese network. Nowadays, memes aren’t just some funny pictures you see every day while scrolling your social media, there are a story and a history behind every meme. During the past three years, Chinese users were using memes to raise critical topics such as #米兔 (#Rice bunny) that was a Chinese way to support #MeToo campaign started in 2017. Girls and women stood up for each other to protest against sexual harassment and sexual assault. By coming up with the idea of using a homophone #米兔 (#Rice bunny), that sound just like #MeToo but was harder to track by Chinese government, Chinese girls and women weren't left behind. Posting memes about 996 was also a way to protest against overtime working that was so extensively supported by the two biggest Internet magnates in China. Taking into count the speed of development and changing of the Internet meme trends, we are not allowed to underestimate the importance of their role in every society. Perhaps, for Chinese Internet users memes are one of the limited ways to the freedom of speech, since it is harder to find the original source and a creator.

Abstract History shows that the use of the Bible by Christians has changed over the centuries. With the digitization and the ubiquitous accessibility of the Internet, the handling of texts and reading itself has changed. Research has also shown that young people’s faith adapts to the characteristics of the ‘age of authenticity’, which changes the role of normative institutions and texts in general. With regard to these developments this article deals with the question: How relevant is personal Bible reading for the faith formation of highly religious Protestant German teenagers? Answers to this question are provided from previous empirical surveys and from two qualitative studies among highly religious teenagers in Germany. The findings indicate, that other spiritual practices for young people today are more important as a source of faith than reading the Bible. The teenagers interviewed tend to seek an individual affective experience when reading the Bible, so that the importance of cognitive grasp of the content takes a back seat to personal experience.

This study aimed to identify the role of Internet technology in transforming the role of its users to promoters of medical products in Jordan. The study found that there are statistically significant effects of independent variables (multipurpose and advanced Internet programs, reduced costs of the use of Internet programs, collective and interactive communication via the Internet, and Internet information abundance and variety of its resources) on the dependent factor, which is transformation of the role of Internet users to promoters of medical products in Jordan. The study recommended increasing attention on networks to promote medical products in Jordan. This is consistent with the fact that promotion via networks has become an effective way to support and enhance the image of products and its delivery to the target group in all markets around the world.

By using the Propensity Score Matching model, this study proves the existence of an Internet premium effect. After other factors are controlled, it is found that the average wage income of Internet users is 1.38 times that of non-users. At the same time, there are significant gender differences in the premium effect of the Internet on wages: Women’s Internet wage premium is 90.6% that of men. Furthermore, it is found that the Internet premium effect on wages is highly related to users’ online behaviors. Compared with female users, male users are more inclined to use Internet resources to acquire knowledge and human capital; among female users, those with a greater conception of gender equality are more inclined to use the Internet for learning and accumulation of human capital. Using the framework of previous research on gender inequality in cyberspace, this study focuses on how gender perception influences Internet users’ preferences and ways of using the Internet, which is an important cause and mechanism of reproduction of gender inequality in cyberspace.
