Professionalism of the non-formal education personnel, which is understood as competency development, is a necessity. If we see from various points of view particularly from sociocultural aspects, the study on the dynamics of non-formal education personnel’s profession, becomes the essential part of this articel. The flexibility, which tends to be biased over time, age, materials or presentation approaches and sosiocultural aspects within the process of learning, becomes the reference for the personnel’s quality improvement efforts. Even though, in common public point of view, the existence of formal teachers is stronger than non-formal education personnel, but the NFE program development in reality is largely required. This happens because many people have not been served by the formal education system. In order to re-defined the meaning of professionalism of the NFE as an effort of the education quality improvement normatively, there is a necessity to improve the culture of operation and the dialogues among education personnel up to the education managers.

This paper contains main principles of function-oriented analysis. This approach may be used to estimate the product quality from the point of view of its consumer properties. The object and its components are studied in terms of the functions they fulfill, which corresponds to the degree of satisfaction of the customer requirements (or expectations). It makes possible to find out the relation between the consumer functions and the product properties and determines the practical ways of quality improvement. It is proved that the function-oriented analysis can be used efficiently for both current metal products and for research and design of up-to-date engineering and manufacturing systems.

The authors propose a web-based system to support students' homework, and letting their parents have access to it. From the teacher's point of view, the authors believe that one of the major advantages of their system is time saving. Like other systems available, this system gathers statistical data concerning different groups of students selected by the teacher. From these data on, the teacher can easily see where students are having problems and decide what to do next. From the student's point of view, the authors elected as main advantages of this system the prompt feedback about the exercises correctness, added to the training with different exercises sets about the same subject, besides the utilization of video, color, sound, etc., that positively reinforce child's senses. Their previous results show that students prefer to solve exercises in digital form, rather than exercises in paper form, also showing a more positive attitude towards the former. Also, the authors have seen that the use of computers has enabled the development of tactile sensitivity and motor coordination in children with special education needs.

Abstract Six Sigma as a quality improvement framework has gained considerable popularity in the past two decades. Its extension Lean Six Sigma has also been embraced by many organizations for improvement of quality and business competitiveness. One important factor for the popularity of Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma is their potential for improving service systems, in contrast to the conventional perceptions that only manufacturing systems can benefit from statistics-based methodologies. There are however a number of issues related to the nature of service systems that must be resolved before the full benefits of Lean Six Sigma can be realized. In this paper, these issues are discussed from a practical point of view from three angles: analytical, organizational, and personal. Awareness of the existence of such issues, if not the answers to all of them, is a pre-requisite to effective adoption of Lean Six Sigma tools.

This paper intends to present the application of FMEA method on Three-Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) system. Catalytic converter of auto-exhaust emission is one of the most successful applications of heterogeneous catalysis, both in commercial and environmental point of view. FMEA method will be applied to this system to quantitatively determine and evaluate its risk factors. This method is being employed effectively for identifying and addressing what potentially could go wrong with a product or process. It is expected to enhance the lifetime of the TWC by improving its resistance to deactivation. It is widely accepted that FMEA is one of the best quality improvement tool. For the last several decades, FMEA has been widely used in industry especially in automotive sectors. This research will cover mostly on the system and design of the TWC itself as the most important part for controlling the exhaust emission from automobiles. By improving its resistance to deactivation will contribute to longer lifetime of automotive catalytic converter.

Introduction:HMIMMS (Major Incident Medical Management and Support: The Practical Approach in the Hospital) has been introduced by ALSG (Advanced Life Support Group, Manchester, UK) and developed for many countries for preparing to accept huge numbers of casualties at a hospital during major incidents. The original HMIMMS course has been held in Japan since 2007, produced over 1,200 providers. Japan has a crucial history of natural disasters, earthquakes, tsunamis, and typhoons often resulting in extensive damages to infrastructure and communications.Aim:The MIMMS-JAPAN and the Japanese Association for Disaster Medicine have joined to plan to revise the original HMIMMS course from the point of view of the difference of the type of disaster.Method:By the permission of ALSG, two subjects were added “Hospital Evacuation” and “Business Continuity Plan” as lectures, workshops, and tabletops to the original HMIMMS course. Before attending the course, students were required to watch e-learning for deeper understanding and time-saving. Total program was organized into two days. Results:Main points of modification are to: 1.Replace a system peculiar to the UK with a Japanese system.2.Add unique contents of a Japanese disaster.3.Add the important subjects especially in Japan.4.Modify the presentation slides to understand easily for Japanese students. But the fundamental concept that hospital functions upon ‘CSCATTT’ is strictly preserved.Discussion:Newly revised HMIMMS course will start in 2019 for Japanese learners. Many reflections must be accumulated and further revisions will continue.

Breast reconstruction has been affirmed as part of the treatment for locally advanced breast tumor, and the development of new techniques has been providing better results and widening surgical indications. The objective of this work was to establish and discuss the different criteria that are related to this indication, mainly in what refers to the timing for the procedure. Oncological, clinical and psychological aspects are evaluated according to experience accumulated in recent years, with immediate and delayed reconstruction, carried out in the most diverse specialized centers. The authors conclude that, in reference to the safety and benefits of immediate reconstruction, it would be indicated for any patient who wants it and presents favorable clinical and psychological conditions, without having any absolut contraindication from the oncological point of view.

ImportanceElectronic health record (EHR) clinical decision support (CDS) tools can provide evidence-based feedback at the point of care to reduce low-value imaging. Success of these tools has been limited partly due to lack of engagement by busy clinicians.ObjectiveMeasure the impact of a time-saving quality improvement intervention to increase engagement with a CDS tool for low back pain imaging ordering.Design, setting and participantsWe conducted a quasi-experimental difference-in-differences analysis at (BLINDED), examining back pain imaging orders from 29 May 2015 to 07 January 2016. The intervention site was (BLINDED) Emergency Medicine/Urgent Care Center (n=5736) and control sites included all other (BLINDED) hospitals and clinics (n=1621). In May 2015, the Department of Health Services installed a CDS tool that triggered a survey when clinicians ordered an imaging test, generating an ‘appropriateness score’ based on the American College of Radiology guidelines. Clinicians often bypassed the tool, resulting in ‘unscored’ tests.InterventionTo increase clinician engagement with the tool and decrease the rate of unscored imaging tests, a new policy was implemented at the intervention site on 15 August 2015. If clinicians completed the CDS survey and scored an appropriateness score >3, they could forego a previously mandatory telephone call for pre-imaging utilisation review with the radiology department.Main outcomes and measuresWe used EHR data to measure pre–post-intervention differences in: (1) percentage of unscored tests and (2) percentage of tests with high appropriateness scores (>7).ResultsPercentage of unscored tests decreased from 69.4% to 10.4% at the intervention site and from 50.6% to 34.8% at the control sites (between-group difference: −23.3%, p<0.001). Percentage of high scoring tests increased from 26.5% to 75.0% at the intervention site and from 17.2% to 22.7% at the control sites (between-group difference: 19%, p<0.001).ConclusionWorkflow time-saving interventions may increase physician engagement with CDS tools and have potential to improve practice patterns.

The presented research was focused on the opinions of students on verbal feedback which they received during the distance form of education implemented in the school year 2019/2020 as a reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of the research was to find out how students perceive verbal feedback in comparison with other forms of assessment and to examine its psychological aspects with regard to the primary school grade and gender. The research involved 309 primary school students who were administered the questionnaire developed by the authors of the study. Students in the first grade of primary school showed a greater interest in verbal feedback, which was also associated with higher efficiency, motivation, positive emotions, and perceived it as fairer and more important, compared to students in the second grade, who tended more towards the classification. How the students liked the verbal feedback was related to whether they liked going to school and also to what emotions the verbal feedback evoked in them. At the same time, the positive emotions associated with verbal feedback were also related to the degree of its effectiveness. In general verbal feedback was perceived positively and caused positive emotions.
