The intensifying integration processes between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan update creation of databases and development of regression models that allow determining the body length by individual bones in representatives of both genders of this ethnic group. The aim of the study was to verify application of regression equations to determine the body length in Tajik children and adolescents, aged 6–17, according to the linear parameters of the short tubular bones of the hand.Material and methods. There were performed osteometric studies of 251 X-ray images of the right hand to determine the body length of the examined individuals. Linear regression analysis was carried out to identify dependence of the body length on linear parameters of the short tubular bones of the hand. The quality of the regression was assessed through the coefficient of determination R2 and significance by the F-criterion. There were considered coefficients of determination higher than 0.8.Results. It was found that for boys the linear parameter of the length of the tubular bones of the hand was the best to predict the body length. When applying regression equations to determine the body length according to the length of the hand rays in boys, it was determined that the best results were obtained when applying a model developed for the bones of the 2nd and 4th hand rays. For Tajik girls, regression models that included parameters of the length and width of the tubular bones of the hand were more reliable. More reliable results for identifying the body length of Tajik children were obtained when regression models were developed separately for individuals of different genders.Conclusion. The results obtained demonstrated that osteometric parameters of the short tubular bones of the hand can be used to assess the body length of Tajik children and adolescents of both genders.

Data on 1350 Nellore sheep of 2, 4, 6 and 8-teeth age, reared under field conditions in 12 mandals of Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh were utilized for development of prediction equations and study the phenotypic association among body measurements and body weights. The coefficients of correlation between body weight with the height at withers, chest girth, paunch girth, hip width and body length were positive and high in magnitude in both males and females in majority of the age groups studied. Step-down regression equations were fitted to predict the body weight based on biometrical measurements at different ages. The height at withers, chest girth, paunch girth, hip width and body length have contributed significantly to the expression of body weights at the majority of the ages studied. High coefficient of determination (R2) value was observed in males at 6 and 8-teeth age as 88 per cent, while in females 50 per cent at 2-teeth age.

The scientific literature presents quite a large number of works, in which the priority role of mathematical modeling in providing high-quality medical care, health and active longevity of a person is determined. The purpose of the work is to construct and analyze the regression models of individual sonographic sizes of kidneys in practically healthy women of the middle intermediate somatotype, depending on the features of the anthropometric and somatotypological indicators. Within the framework of the agreement on scientific cooperation from the database of National Pirogov Memorial Medical University, Vinnytsya primary sonographic parameters (length, width, anterior-posterior dimension, area of longitudinal and cross-section of the kidneys and their sinuses, as well as volume of the right and left kidneys) and anthropometric indices (obtained by the method of V.V. Bunak in the modification of P.P. Shaparenko) of 17 practically healthy women of the first mature age of the middle intermediate somatotype, who in the third generation live in the Podillya region of Ukraine. The construction of regression models of individual sonographic sizes of the kidneys, depending on the features of anthropo-somatotypological parameters of the body of women of the middle intermediate somatotype, was carried out in the licensed package “Statistica 6.1”. In women of the middle intermediate somatotype all 16 possible reliable regression models of sonographic parameters of the kidneys were constructed depending on the anthropo-somatotypological parameters with the determination coefficient R2 from 0.891 to 0.978. The analysis of reliable regression models (with a coefficient of determination greater than 0.6), the sonographic parameters of the kidneys in practically healthy women of the middle intermediate somatotype revealed that most often models of both kidneys, as well as separately of the right and left kidneys, include the circumferential dimensions of the body (respectively, 35.9 – 33.3 – 38.5% of the total number of indicators included in the models). In addition, models of both kidneys most often include cephalometric indices (12.6%), thickness of skin-fat folds and body diameters (by 11.7%); models of the right kidney – body diameters (15.7%), cephalometric indices and width of distal epiphyses of long tubular bones of extremities (by 11.8%); models of the right kidney - the thickness of skin and fat folds (17.3%) and cephalometric indices (13.5%). Attention is drawn to the lack of entry into models of sonographic sizes of kidneys total body sizes.

Abstract The present study used regression models to evaluate the existence of factors that may influence the numerical parasite dominance with an epidemiological approximation. A database including 3,746 fish specimens and their respective parasites were used to evaluate the relationship between parasite dominance and biotic characteristics inherent to the studied hosts and the parasite taxa. Multivariate, classical, and mixed effects linear regression models were fitted. The calculations were performed using R software (95% CI). In the fitting of the classical multiple linear regression model, freshwater and planktivorous fish species and body length, as well as the species of the taxa Trematoda, Monogenea, and Hirudinea, were associated with parasite dominance. However, the fitting of the mixed effects model showed that the body length of the host and the species of the taxa Nematoda, Trematoda, Monogenea, Hirudinea, and Crustacea were significantly associated with parasite dominance. Studies that consider specific biological aspects of the hosts and parasites should expand the knowledge regarding factors that influence the numerical dominance of fish in Brazil. The use of a mixed model shows, once again, the importance of the appropriate use of a model correlated with the characteristics of the data to obtain consistent results.

The study of the constitutional features of organs in the healthy population makes it possible to find out the peculiarities of changes in their sizes in different pathologies. The purpose of the work is to construct and analyze the regression models of individual sonographic sizes of the kidneys in practically healthy women of the ectomorphic somatotype, depending on the features of anthropo-somatotypological parameters of the body. From the database of research center of the National Pirogov Memorial Medical University, Vinnytsya (within the framework of the agreement on scientific cooperation) were taken the primary sonographic parameters (length, width, front and rear size, area of the longitudinal and cross section of the kidneys and their sinuses, as well as the volume of the right and left kidneys) and anthropometric indices (according to V. V. Bunak in the modification of P. P. Shapаrenko) of practically healthy women-ectomorphs of the first mature age, who in the third generation live in the Podillia region of Ukraine. Regression models of individual sonographic sizes of the kidneys, depending on the features of anthropo-somatotypological parameters of the body, are constructed using the license package “Statistica 6.1”. In practically healthy women of the ectomorphic somatotype all 16 possible reliable regression models of sonographic parameters of the right and left kidneys, based on the anthropometric and somatotypological parameters with determination coefficient R2 from 0.607 to 0.973, were constructed. Constructed regression models of sonographic parameters of both kidneys in practically healthy women of the ectomorphic somatotype most often include body diameters (24.2% of the total number of indicators included in the models), circumferential body sizes (20.9%), cephalometric indices (19.8 %) and the thickness of skin and fat folds (14.3%). The regression models of sonographic parameters of the right kidney in women of the ectomorphic somatotype most often include diameters and circumferential body sizes (by 27.3% of the total number of indicators included to the models of right kidney) and cephalometric indices (18.2%). The regression models of the sonographic parameters of the left kidney in women of the ectomorphic somatotype most often include body diameters and cephalometric indices (by 21.3% of the total number of indices included to the models of the left kidney) and the circumferential body size and thickness of skin and fat folds (by 14.9%).

The prediction of chicks? weight before hatching is an important element of selection, aimed at improving the uniformity rate and productivity of birds. With this regards, our goal was to develop and evaluate optimum models for similar prediction in two White Plymouth Rock chickens lines - line L and line K on the basis of the incubation egg weight and egg geometry characteristics - egg maximum breadth (B), egg length (L), geometric mean diameter (Dg), egg volume (V), egg surface area (S). A total of 280 eggs (140 from each line) laid by 40-weekold hens were randomly selected. Mean arithmetic values, standard deviations and coefficients of variation of studied parameters were determined for each line. Correlation coefficients between the weight of hatchlings and predictors were the highest for egg weight, geometric mean diameter, volume and surface area of eggs (r=0.731-0.779 for line L; r=0.802-0.819 for line ?). Nine linear regression models were developed and their accuracy evaluated. The regression equations of hatchlings? weight vs egg length had the lowest coefficient of determination (0.175 for line K and 0.291 for line L), but when egg length and breadth entered the model together, its value increased significantly up to 0.541 and 0.665 for lines L and K, respectively. The weight of day-old chicks from line L could be predicted with higher accuracy with a model involving egg surface area apart egg weight (ChW=0.513EW+0.282S - 10.345; R2=0.620). In line ? a more accurate prognosis was attained by adding egg breadth as an additional predictor to the weight in the model (ChW=0.587EW+0.566? - 19.853; R2=0.692). The study demonstrated that multiple linear regression models were more precise that single linear models.

Obtaining orthognathic occlusion in a patient as a result of treatment is a key goal of any orthodontist. However, the thorny path that both the patient and the doctor must go through involves painstaking work, which primarily begins with planning and choosing a method of orthodontic treatment, predicting and modeling its results. However, the latter is possible only if previously conducted research to determine the normative indicators for a population. The aim of the study was to construct and analyze regression models of teleradiographic parameters according to the Jarabak method in Ukrainian young men and young women with orthognathic occlusion. 49 young men and 76 young women with orthognathic occlusion underwent cephalometric analysis of lateral radiographs according to the modification of the method Jarabak J. R. – Roth-Jarabak, performed using the software OnyxCeph³™. All parameters according to the Jarabak method were divided into three groups: the first group included metric characteristics of the skull, which are used as baseline indicators; to the second group – dental-jaw in which the skeleton has already been formed and which surgical methods can change the length, width, angles and positions of the upper and lower jaws; to the third group – indicators that characterize the position of each individual tooth relative to each other, cranial structures and the profile of the soft tissues of the face. Construction of regression models of teleradiographic indicators by the Jarabak method was performed in the licensed package “Statistica 6.0” using step-by-step regression analysis. When modeling teleradiographic parameters according to the Jarabak method, which were included in the second group, depending on the indicators of the first group in young men with orthognathic occlusion, 8 out of 19 possible reliable regression models with a coefficient of determination greater than 0.5 (R2= from 0.589 to 0.950) were constructed. The constructed equations most often include the value of the angle N-S-Ar and the distances Ar-Go and N-S. In young women with orthognathic occlusion, 6 reliable regression models of the second group were constructed depending on the indicators of the first group (R2= from 0.609 to 0.971). The constructed equations most often include the value of the distances Ar-Go, S-Ar, N-S and the angle N-S-Ar. When modeling teleradiographic indicators included in the third group, depending on the indicators of the first and second groups in young men, 5 out of 8 possible reliable regression models with a coefficient of determination greater than 0.5 (R2= from 0.658 to 0.751) were constructed. The constructed equations most often include the values of the angles N-A-Pog, N-Go-Gn, S-N-B and A-N-B. In young women with orthognathic occlusion, 6 reliable regression models of the third group were constructed depending on the indicators of the first and second groups (R2= from 0.509 to 0.772). The constructed regression equations most often include the value of the angles N-A-Pog, A-N-B, S-Ar-Go, S-N-A and the ratio Go_Me:N-S. The obtained models will allow orthodontists to automatically calculate the required cephalometric parameters.

Abstract Background and Aim: The liver is a large organ in the body. Its various parameters can be utilized in determining the gestational age of the fetus and also in diagnosing pathologies affecting liver growth. The aim is to measure the various liver parameters in non deformed fetuses and to develop regression equations between the liver parameters and the gestational age. Materials and methods: The study was done on 30 aborted fetuses with varying gestational age from 13 to 32 weeks. Fetuses with any gross abnormalities were excluded. The crown rump length was measured for all. Dissection was done and the livers were removed weighed, length of right border, length of the border, width of superior surface, distance of porta hepatis to the right and left border were recorded using manual vernier caliper. Result: The various parameters of the liver showed a strong correlation with the CRL and hence the gestational age. Conclusion: The determination of the gestational age of the fetus using the correlation between the crown rump length and the liver morphometry can be done accurately.

Rana temporaria tadpoles which had been naturally infected by larvae of Polystoma integerrimum were kept in the laboratory under conditions precluding the continuous re-infection which occurs in nature. One tadpole was seen to have two larvae attached to the skin of the ventral surface of the body, which were moving towards the posterior end. The tadpole measured 7·9 mm. in body length and 20·8 mm. in total length, and its stage of development corresponded to stage 5 in the table of development and metamorphosis compiled by Rugh (1951); it was collected in mid-May and had been kept for twelve days under laboratory conditions. The tadpole was fixed and dissected: the bladder had not developed, and the gills showed no indication of atrophy; the alimentary canal was long and heavily coiled, and filled with food. In addition to the two larvae observed on the skin, one larva was found in the branchial chamber, two were in the cloacal tube, seven occupied the cloacal chamber and two had travelled up the right ureter to the kidney; the alimentary canal was free of larvae. All fourteen larvae were gyrodactyloids.
