The issue of soil compacted state forecasting during the construction of a forest road is considered. The mechanical system formation of contacting particles of the compacted soil are given and substantiated. A model of compaction of a loose soil layer in the system "compaction device - compacted material" has been developed. A new compartment approach in this field of applied research was used, within which the system under study is subdivided into interconnected units, called compartments, the content of a certain substance in each of them is a separate variable of the system. Various technological situations are analyzed with the minimum and maximum allowable boom outreach of the excavator. The modeling of the effect of porosity on the soil layer thickness during its compaction, denser packing of particles and the appearance of residual (irreversible) deformations has been carried out. A method for determining the relationship between the degree of soil compaction and changes in its porosity and deformations has been developed. The complexity of the theoretical study of the compacted soil is substantiated. The practical significance of the developed model of soil layer compaction and the methodology for assessing its deformations has been confirmed with successful implementation at the design and monitoring stages of the construction of a pilot section of a forest road located in the Republic of Karelia on the basis of Petrozavodsk State University.

The aim of the study is to analyze and forecast the use of payment cards for making non-cash payments through national payment systems in Kazakhstan. Based on this goal, a hypothesis was put forward that in Kazakhstan, there is a relationship between the number of payment cards and the volume of non-cash payments. This hypothesis was confirmed because of the study. The information base of the study was the data on payment cards, which were taken from the Statistical Bulletin of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Hypothesis testing was carried out using correlation analysis for three periods: 2009, 2016, 2020. The method of finding Pearson’s correlation in the SPSS program was used. The results showed a downward change in the relationship between the selected indicators and the amount of funds transferred over time. Also, in this study, a forecast was made for 2021-2023 for the indicators under consideration. To make a forecast for the indicators under consideration, a graphical method (polynomial trend line) was used. The resulting forecast shows the growth of cardholders and, consequently, the spread of the number of payment cards among the population in 2021-2023. The practical significance of this study is that the proposed methodology can help predict the dynamics of payment cards in any country in the world. Recommendations are also given for further improving the financial system, since increasing the transparency of monetary circulation in small-and-medium sized businesses will lead to a positive result in the implementation of the program for universal declaration of income in 2025.

Soil compaction is generally defined as an increase of the natural density of soil at a particular depth. This compacted soil layer spatially varies over the field. Describing within-field variability is a fundamental first step towards determining the size of management zones. The purpose of the study was to explain the spatial variability of penetration resistance (PR) and hardpan characteristics. Soil PR, dry bulk density (BD), and water content (WC) were measured on the nodes of a mesh. Statistical and geostatistical analysis were used to analyse the spatial variability of PR at 5 depths: 0.0–0.1, 0.1–0.2, 0.2–0.3, 0.3–0.4, and 0.4–0.5 m, and hardpan characteristics. PR had the maximum variability among the measured properties. Hardpan lower edge depth varied from 0.297 to 0.714 m, having a mean and CV of 0.411 m and 20.43, respectively. PR was inversely related to WC. Correlation between BD and WC and PR for the same layer was relatively high. PR and hardpan characteristics showed spatial variability across the field, except PR at depth 0.1–0.2 m. Spherical isotropic models fitted all the measured properties. The range of values of the spatial structure was greater than 7.6 m. The results showed that hardpan and PR spatially varied across the field. These results are important in determining the necessary tillage technique as well as the tillage depth and the target compacted area for a suitable land management. These results also have important implications for how site-specific management information should be collected and explained.

Abstract Since the reign of Qianlong and Jiaqing in the Qing dynasty, there have been signs of a resurgence of interest in Mohism. Intellectuals became particularly invested in Mozi’s teachings during the period of the Republic of China. “Impartial love,” the notion of equity advocated by Mozi, received the most attention. At the time, most discussions primarily attempted to respond to Mencius’s criticism of Mozi’s doctrine. Some scholars stressed Mohism’s high regard for filial piety and demonstrated persuasively that the concept of impartial love did not closely correspond to Mencius’s labelling of it as “disregarding one’s father.” Other scholars drew a distinction between Mozi and his disciples and identified only the latter as deserving of Mencius’s criticism. Some thinkers affirmed impartial love’s practical significance and saw it as a significant tool for condemning the autocracy and saving the country from imminent downfall. Others vehemently denounced the principle’s impracticability. A close look at these different trends can provide us with a better understanding of the different attitudes of intellectuals in the period of the Republic of China regarding Confucianism and the relationship between Confucianism and Mohism.

Transportation infrastructure will provide the necessary capacity for freight movements and handling. However, the increase of physical infrastructure alone is not a sufficient condition for improvement of logistics systems. A logistics information capability that facilitates seamless flow of information is important in further enhancing the efficiency of logistics activities and potentially in reducing the demand for transportation infrastructure itself. The existing logistics information practices in the Republic of Korea are reviewed. Korea’s recent efforts to build the advanced logistics management systems and integrated logistics information systems are described. The relationship between these two systems is discussed, and issues that are important to successful implementation of the systems are raised.

Radiomics is a science that investigates a large number of features from medical images using data-characterisation algorithms, with the aim to analyse disease characteristics that are indistinguishable to the naked eye. Radiogenomics attempts to establish and examine the relationship between tumour genomic characteristics and their radiologic appearance. Although there is certainly a lot to learn from these relationships, one could ask the question: what is the practical significance of radiogenomic discoveries? This increasing interest in such applications inevitably raises numerous legal and ethical questions. In an environment such as the technology field, which changes quickly and unpredictably, regulations need to be timely in order to be relevant.  In this paper, issues that must be solved to make the future applications of this innovative technology safe and useful are analysed.

African states and institutions believe that the principle of territorial integrity is applicable to sub-state groups and limits their right to self-determination, contrary to international law. The Anglophone Problem in Cameroon has been an ever-present issue of social, political and economic debates in the country, albeit most times in undertones. This changed as the problem metamorphosed into an otherwise preventable devastating armed conflict with external self-determination having become very popular among the Anglophone People. This situation brings to light the drawbacks of irregular decolonisation, third world colonialism and especially the relationship between self-determination and territorial integrity in Africa.
