This writing is motivated by a very abundant religious culture in Indonesia, including the phenomenon found in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara which is famous for “Wetu Telu Islam”. It contains the religious system filled with ceremonies and rituals which are accompanied by special symbols that have certain meanings. The method used in this paper is historical descriptive, by systematically explaining the history of the people of Lombok, the cultural patterns of “Wetu Telu Islam”, including its historical figures, doctrine, development, and existence. Then the writer uses structural semiology in analyzing the meaning of symbol elements found in the religious rituals of “Wetu Telu Islam” in Lombok. “Wetu Telu Islam” according to the people of Lombok is a very perfect Islam as it is built from two solid dimensions, namely dzohir and ihsan. For that reason, “Wetu Telu Islam” for them is the teachings of Sufism which emphasize the spirit, and soul. It is the spirit of holistic Islamic teachings, namely: shari’a, thoriqot, haqiqot, and ma‘rifat. Everything is building up, mutually reinforcing, and inseparable.

The worship of the people of the Javanese Christian Church cannot be separated from the liturgy. The liturgy gives an introduction, views, and attitudes of the Christian faith to the Javanese Christian Church amid its existence. Throughout the history of the MPD liturgies, the I, II, III, and lectionary variations of the I and II liturgical models have been developed. The process of birth and development of the GKJ liturgy are important elements of research to find an explanation, why GKJ people still have a distance from the realities of life that exist in society. The results found in this study indicate that the GKJ liturgy that has been built has not been placed on the reality of the struggle and hopes of the people amid community and cultural life. The current GKJ's view of the liturgy has a similar meaning to the religious rituals of the people that shape the identity of the people, but there is no critical step capability to build up their worship with praxis so that it can be lived in and have an impact on the lives of the people and the community.

AbstractThe Mayan people of Mexico have a radically different concept of illness than that of western countries. In the absence of any formal psychiatric service in their area, the people continue to rely on the interventions of the traditional healers, which include the use of herbal medicines, prayers and magico-religious rituals. A case history of a Mayan patient with a chronic psychotic illness is described, which illustrates the gulf in concepts of mental illness that exists between Western and folk cultures. These cultural differences may have a profound impact on the application of modern psychiatric interventions in developing countries.

The creativity of the award winner of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize in the domain of literature Dmytro Kremin (1953-2019) is a vivid phenomenon of modern Ukrainian literature and culture. His poetic heritage has a special meaning after the poet passed away in May of this year. Now it is worth to be considered and conceived as a kind of his testament left to descendants by the outstanding master of the imaginative word. Dmytro Kremin`s legacy has always been in the centre of attention of critical literary practice, his poems evoked a contradictory attitude towards himself, thanks to it the critics` reviewers were so brilliant and emotional. But after the poet`s death, there is a need for a literary study of his heritage and a conclusion to the study of the work of an outstanding poet on a qualitatively new level. Among the poet’s many works, the poem holds a special place. It was created before long after Ukraine gained independence. Appeal to the people and the country`s history, Dmytro Kremin comprehends the origins of their heavy fate. The philosophical approach to understanding concrete historical phenomena allows the poet to look profoundly into the past, to define the influence on the present, and the origins of our young state`s problems. A wide range of historical figures, to which the author refers, characterizes the history of Ukraine in its most noticeable facts. The analysis of the poem is philological. The figurative system of the work is perceived in the unity of form and content. Thus it is possible to identify the aesthetic singularity of the work and its patriotic directivity. The study proves that the appeal of the patriotic poet to history should be received as a kind of poetic admonition, an attempt to draw attention to the tragic mistakes for the people`s fate to avoid them in the contemporary history of Ukraine. The poet’s call to live for the sake of the Motherland, to conscientious service to the country and people reflects his moral and aesthetic position and becomes his contribution to the development of the country. We consider that the article can be useful for researchers, lecturers, school teachers, students, and everyone interested in the creativity of the outstanding Ukrainian poet.

The second edition of The Encyclopaedia of Islam (EI/2), published since 1954 by E.J. Brill in Leiden, is well known as an unparalleled scholarly reference for the history and culture of the Islamic lands. By late summer 1994, the Encyclopaedia had reached the entry Riḍā Shāh in the middle of the eighth volume. The volumes, each approximately 1000 pages long, are lodes of information about the people, places, events and ideas of Islamic history and thought; but simply by handling the volumes, a reader would never realize that the visual arts were an important component of Islamic culture. There are very few illustrations, none of them in color. Even to the most unsophisticated eye, EI/2 is a dense, ponderous, and user-antagonistic reference tool. Nevertheless, it is a useful resource for the history of art and architecture in the Islamic lands, particularly to those who already know something about Islamic civilization, although the reader must be an experienced miner to discover the ore-bearing strata.

This paper introduces Memorial Tombs in the context of memorial compound tomb types for the aristocrat of the Nguyen Dynasty (1802- 1945) in Southern Vietnam in The Medieval and Post-Medieval Time. This type was of rare tangible and intangible cultural heritage at the time (1.5%). These heritage assets are very valuable because they are associated with historical figures – “state founders, meritorious officials” in country expansion time “The Great South Unification (Dai Nam Nhat thong)”. In addition to the typical complex of mausoleums in Southern Vietnam (Nguyen Huu Canh, 1650-1700; Le Van Duyet, 1763-1832; Le Van Phong, Truong Tan Buu, 1752-1827 or Tran Van Hoc, Phan Tan Huynh, Huynh Van Tu, and "Sir Nhieu Loc"), the authors studied Vo Tanh mausoleum at both Hoang De (emperor) and Gia Dinh (emperor) citadels, and the mausoleum of his warmates related to the last and biggest-scaled sea fight between the Nguyen dynasty’s army and the Tay Son insurgent army on Thi Nai lagoon in 1801 (Vo Di Nguy, 1745-1801; Ngo Tung Chau; Thu Ngoc Hau, etc.). In our opinion, the presence of memorial tomb types of Vo Tanh and his warmates – historic-cultural-artistic heritage sites of national/provincial levels in Southern Vietnam relating the honoring of heroes who “wholeheartedly served the King, defended the country, saved the people” in the history of country expansion “Towards the South” in medieval and post-medieval times. They contribute to the moulding of prominent features of the comtemporary Southerners’ personality. Those historical stories of the Southern heroes are preserved and worshipped by their descendants bearing in mind the Vietnamese way of life “praising the bridge carrying one over” and pay homage to ancestors for their nation-building service.

Many change processes in organizations fail or have only limited success because leaders and staff are unable to develop the necessary new attitudes and values. Therefore, a central question in many organizations is how a transformation of organizational culture can be successful. This article describes proven approaches and methods that can effect a profound change in organizational culture. Edgar Schein’s model of cultural transformation plays an important role. He directs the focus to the unconsciously acting basic assumptions and hidden rules of the organization. This deep layer of culture has evolved throughout the history of the organization. Over time it has become self-evident and unconscious. The processes of cultural transformation is about unlearning negative old cultural patterns and learning new ones. Releasing old patterns creates uncertainty and anxiety. Learning new things is only possible when save spaces emerge in which people can engage in new experiences. Very special about the described approach is to work on these unconsciously acting cultural patterns and linking them to all levels of the organization, e.g. structures, roles, and work processes. Still, the focus remains on the people. Only if they are constantly able to behave and act within the patterns of the new culture, a cultural transformation is successful. This article aims to give change agents, leaders, and consultants ideas on how to understand and shape profound cultural transformation processes.

Codification and cultural transformation in the Riau Malay region from a local religion to the Islamic religious system, complete with various forms of embodiment of all forms of culture. Revolution and religious reform in Riau Malay society which gave rise to cultural transformation were due to several inherent factors or other factors which were later strongly associated with Islam. Islam when it has to be actualized in culture has presented its face in harmony with the culture of culture in an area, and in the regional diversity of Islamic culture there is still a place for local Islamic culture. However, all cultural diversity is united by spirit and a sacred form of tradition that comes from tawhid. Riau Malay Culture is one of the forms of Islamic culture that has many supporters. Islamic values are clearly seen in various aspects of Riau Malay culture. Malays make Islam the spirit or core of their culture. The history of the entry of Islam, Islamic law, codification and compilation of Islamic law on the yellow Malay land of Riau Kepri tend to be modest, without any resistance mentally, socially, culturally and faithfully. This has led to the Trem that Malays are synonymous with Islam, especially Malay Riau.
