This study was aimed at describing what kinds of thematic progressionpatterns mostly employed by the students, describing how to applythematic progression theory and personal blog in the sentence-basedwriting class, and finding out whether the use of thematic progressiontheory and personal blog give positive significances to coherence of thestudents‘ sentences. This is an action research study employing twocycles. The subject of the study was 24 students of group 2, in a class ofsentence-based writing (SBW), and the object of the study was students‘sentences created by the students in the teaching and learning process(TLP). The result of the study shows that thematic progression patternsmoslty employed by the students are constant theme pattern followed byzig zag and multiple theme patterns. In TLP, the materials were devidedand given to the students in two cycles. The first cycle focused onintroducing the thematic progression theory and its kinds of patterns. Then, in the next cycle the students focused on sharing ideas with otherclassmates via individual blogs. Based on the result of the study, teachingSBW using thematic progression theory gives its positive significance byvaried patterns used by the students. It can be seen from the analysis ofthe students‘ sentences from pretest, paragraf 1, paragraf 2, paragraf 3and posttest. The students also give positive responses upon its teaching and learning process using thematic progression and personal blogs basedon the pre and post test questionnaire data. It is hoped that the result ofthe study gives positive contribution to the students in preparing them towrite in bigger contexts - paragraph-based writing, genre-based writngand academic writing in the next coming semesters. Keywords: Mind mapping ; writing skills ; Class Action Research.

Recently, game-based multimedia development has been increasing rapidly. Game-based multimedia is not only used for entertaining but also for teaching and learning process. Meanwhile, for the majority of elementary school students, numeracy learning is still considered as a difficult subject to be learned and has not attracted students’ interest because it still uses vertical methods. The objective of this research is to examine the implementation of game-based multimedia in learning horizontal numeracy. In this game-based multimedia, horizontal numeracy material is presented in the form of a game. Horizontal numeracy material begins with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Game-based multimedia is implemented to 20 students in grade 3 elementary schools in Bandung, Indonesia. Subsequently, the way students learn the materials and their learning outcomes are explored after using this multimedia. The results show that the students can learn horizontal numeracy excitingly; moreover, they can easily understand the concept of horizontal numeracy quickly. It is indicated by by the increasing of average post-test value.

The learning process should activate students by looking at their initial abilities so that the learning that is carried out becomes meaningful. Learning by using a problem-based contextual approach is one of the ways that can be applied so that the learning process not only emphasizes conceptual understanding but also in the problem-solving process. This research was a classroom action research conducted in 2 cycles to improve the quality of the process and learning outcomes. Each cycle consisted of planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The formulation of the problem in this study was "How is the application of problem-based contextual approaches in learning science about living things and their environment to improve student learning outcomes in IV grade SDN 10 Sungai Kakap?". Data analysis techniques in this study were measured from the level of success in implementing classroom actions based on changes in teaching and learning using observation sheets and anecdotal notes narratively as well as improving learning outcomes using test instruments. This classroom action research was conducted at SDN 10 Sungai Kakap on science learning using problem-based contextual approach in IV grade with 41 students. The results showed an increase in learning outcomes where the first cycle of 20 or 48.78% of students had not been completed with an average of 46.61 learning outcomes, and 21 students or 51.21% had been completed with 77.81 learning outcomes. Then in the second cycle, there was an increase in which as much as 2 or 4.87% of students had not been completed with an average learning outcome of 58 and 39 or 95.51% of students had completed with an average learning outcome of 75.86.

ABSTRACTThe choice of the problem of classroom action research is based on the fact that students' ability to read news texts is still very low. Whereas with the mastery of Indonesian language lessons in general students do not have difficulty learning other subjects. This research was conducted in July to November 2015, because in those months the students had completed the first semester of the general exam and were still at the beginning of the second semester so that the students' conditions could be observed from the beginning.Cooperative Method STAD is a learning method wherein the learning process teaches the teacher to invite students to work together in groups to complete assignments in the classroom and allow students to find information on information that can be traditionally told or disguised. From this writing it can be concluded that with the motivation in learning STAD cooperative learning methods the students' ability to read news scripts increases and learning outcomes will be optimal. The more precise the motivation given, the more successful the lesson will be. With high motivation, the intensity of student learning efforts will also be high. So motivation will always determine the intensity of student learning. This will improve student understanding. Keywords: Reading News Scripts, Cooperative STAD

Artinya, proses belajar mengajar dilakukan dengan cara penyampaian materi, dilanjutkan dengan menghafal dan praktik, sehingga bagi sebagian siswa terkesan monoton dan membosankan.
