Malang City has an annual program of activities for villages namely Kampung Bersinar (Clean, Healthy, Beautiful, Beautiful and Neat). One of the areas that have greening problems is RW 04, Gadang, Malang City on the banks of the Brantas river. Lack of greening in this area causes this area to be prone to landslides because the area is very contoured. That's why the focus of community service is to educate the public in the field of greening to improve the quality of the environment in the area. The method used is Participatory Action Research (PAR) which involves community action in its activities. The activity carried out was to train the creation of ornamental plants in the form of spheres growing to PKK women in RW 04, Gadang, Malang. The results of this activity are PKK mothers who have new knowledge by making ornamental plant creations that can be applied in the area so that it will improve the quality of the green environment in the area..

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore the idea that, in the last few decades, collaborative inquiry methods have evolved along a similar trajectory to dual lens research. Dual lens research, known in various contexts as both ways, two-eyed seeing Old Ways New Ways, and Koodjal Jinnung (looking both ways), is designed to generate new knowledge by exploring a theme through Aboriginal and contemporary western lenses. Participatory action research and a dual lens approach are considered in a number of projects with a particular focus on the issues such work can raise including conceptual challenges posed by fundamental differences between knowledge sets. Design/methodology/approach The authors hypothesize that a dual lens approach will become a branch of participatory action research, as such, a robust description needs to be developed and its ethical implications are considered. Existing work in this direction, including principles and processes, are collated and discussed. Findings Dual lens research as a branch of participatory action research is of great significance in countries with Aboriginal populations that are undergoing a cultural renaissance. As dual lens practitioners, the authors are finding their research outputs have a high positive impact on both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal populations and make a genuine contribution to reconciliation by finding ways of going forward together. Originality/value This paper joins a growing body of research that supports resonances between Aboriginal and “western” research methods.

Since 2001 a team of academic researchers and medical practitioners have been collaborating with Yarrabah Men?s Health Group leaders to implement a participatory action research (PAR) process designed to support the men to (in their own words) ?take their rightful place? in contemporary Australian society. The formative stages of the PAR process and progress over the first 12 months have been documented in previous papers in order to provide much needed direction for others interested in undertaking similar community action-oriented research (Tsey, Patterson, Whiteside, Baird, & Baird, 2002; Tsey et al., 2004). The present paper addresses the need for innovative evaluation methodologies to enable participants in the PAR process to monitor and reinforce the small improvement they are making towards achieving their goals, and to maintain their vision for the future. Participation in men?s group activities resulted in modest but significant change in the men?s personal development and growth and in their response to family responsibilities. Men had the opportunity to dialogue and reflect on their gender responsibilities such as housework, which constitutes a major source of conflict in the family. Several men also gained the confidence and motivation to stand for local government. The study highlights the value of demystifying and making research more relevant to people?s day-to-day living experiences.

While the rural youth identity is an intersectional experience that creates a heterogeneous group of young people, a close exploration of a specific rural location can illuminate an experience that is both unique and shared. In this participatory action research study, a group of youth participated in one-on-one interviews and focus group discussions to describe their experience of their rural location. Reports, statistics, and youth counsellors also provided information about the local youth experience. What emerged was a consideration of the unique divide between public and private social realms that can create a dilemma for youth who are simultaneously encouraged to succeed in public life while provided with limited access to opportunities in that public life. The research project culminated in a sculpture created by a team of youth artists that incorporated the final analysis about the public/private divide. The sculpture is now a permanent display in the region.

Early age learners have characteristics and needs that are different from learning at the higher levels. Teachers at the early age level of education are required to be able to create a pleasant learning atmosphere, for example through the use of song and play media. But in reality, not all early childhood education teachers have the ability to use and develop songs in all subject areas, especially in learning English. This is due to limited references and the ability to develop creative songs. Thus, the purpose of this community service activity is to improve the teaching competency of PIAUD teachers in Jember Regency. The Participatory Action Research (PAR) method with workshop techniques and direct mentoring is used as an approach in this activity to help teachers recognize their problems and potential. This mentoring activity involved 50 PIAUD teachers in Jember District with 3 speakers who were experts in the field of English Education and psychology learning. The results of these service activities can be seen from the increase in the ability of teachers to use and develop English songs. In addition, this activity resulted in an English song compilation book that can be used as a reference for learning in class. This shows that the purpose of this service activity has been achieved by increasing the ability of the assisted teacher in using and developing English songs.

The purpose of this review is to expand understanding of the ways culturally, ethnically, and racially diverse youth have begun to reimagine urban and rural spaces using digital storytelling and photovoice, two methods that often fall under the broad field of youth participatory action research. To explain the conditions under which these methods favor movement toward socially just ideas and actions, we also build on and extend research in critical youth empowerment to call attention to the relational nature of the kind of work that positions youth as coresearchers and democratically engaged citizens. Of importance are the availability of safe, nurturing spaces that foster youth engagement, the quality of relationships between youth and adults, and the extent to which decisions and actions remain in the hands of youth. Finally, this review considers the implications for further research and what it could mean to reimagine schools and communities as spaces where youth have a voice as civically engaged citizens.

Kata Kunci: moderasi; parenting wasathiyah; perpustakaan; Taman Pendidikan al-Qur’an [English]: The problems of radicalism and terrorism in Indonesia have become increasingly dangerous. The actions have already dragged children into it. For example, the suicide bombing in three churches in Surabaya in 2018 involved four schoolchildren; sadly, two of them were still at the elementary school level. This community service program seeks to resolve these problems by implementing religious moderation in Taman Pendidikan al-Qur’an (TPQ). The program comprised two activities; parenting with wasathiyah nuances and the Qur'anic library and applied Participatory Action Research (PAR). It was implemented within a period of three months, from July to September 2020. The results show that both programs are able to construct a moderate religious understanding of the TPQ community, or at the very least, reinforce the existing religious moderation they already have. They realized that people must love their homeland (Indonesia) and that radicalism and terrorism are heinous. Nonetheless, it will take much longer to change their understanding into a truly moderate one. Keywords: moderation; parenting wasathiyah; library; Taman Pendidikan al-Qur’an

AbstractThe practice of waqf that has not occurred in an orderly and efficient manner. This is due to problems that arise such as: the non-certification of waqf land which is used as the object of waqf, or a waqif who has made a pledge of waqf verbally before the heirs and village officials, but has not made a pledge of waqf to the Deed of Pledge Endowcement Officer (PPAIW) in The Local Religious Affairs Office. This is happened in Rasau Jaya District, Kubu Raya Regency. There are ± 11 (eleven) mosques out of a total of 36 (thirty-six) mosques that do not yet have the Endowment Pledge Deed. Lack of understanding and ignorance and public awareness about the Deed of Pledge of Waqf which is the reason for direct assistance. The approach in this study uses the PAR method (Participatory Action Research). The purpose of this assistance is to provide an understanding of the importance of authentic deeds such as the Pledge of Endowments and certificates of waqf land especially for mosques in Rasau Jaya District. This assistance activity also provides a solution or resolution to conflicts related to the Endowment Land Certification in Rasau Jaya District. The results of the assistance can be used as a theoretical and practical reference in making the Deed of Waqf Pledge and endowment land certification, such as: providing legal certainty of the waqf land in Rasau Jaya District so that it is used safely without any dispute in the future, the emergence of community awareness of the importance of waqf, Deed of Pledge Endowment (AIW) and endowment land certificates, as well as optimal socialization and services can be provided to the public through the roles and positions of each of the Acting Officials of Endowment Pledge Acts (PPAIW), The Religious Affairs Office (KUA) and The District National Land Agency (BPN) Kubu Raya.
