This study examines the relationship between firm ownership and corporate performance in Saudi Arabia, using a sample of Listed Private Companies (LPCs) and Listed Government Related Companies (LGRCs). The study compares the operating and market performance of the LPCs and LGRCs during the period 2000-2003 and found that, in general, LGRCs outperform or match the performance of LPCs. More specifically, the study finds that LGRCs tend to mostly outperform LPCs in terms of profitability, as measured by Return on equity (ROE) and Net Profit Margin (NPM), operating efficiently, as measured in terms of Return on assets (ROA), and match them in their stock market risk adjusted performance. The study concludes that these results may have implications for the issue of privatization programs which the government has recently started.

This study examines the relationship between corporate governance bank’s operational (ROA), financial (ROE) and market performance (TQ) in both conventional and Islamic Banks.  This study examines 127 banks listed on the MENA countries for ten years (2008-2017). ‎The study independent variable is corporate governance principles, the dependent variables are return on assets (ROA); return on equity (ROE) and Tobin’s q (TQ). Also, the study utilizes bank and country specific control variables to help measuring the relationship between governance and bank’s Performance. The findings deduced from the empirical results demonstrate that sharia’ah governance significantly influenced the ROA and ROE. However, the corporate governance significantly influenced the TQ.  Furthermore, the results indicate that there are differences between sharia’ah governance and corporate governance with regard to operational, financial and market performance. The study provides insights about the differences in the relationship between sharia’ah governance, corporate governance, and the improvement of performance, which might be utilized by both banks to re-adopt the governance practices in enhancing the operational, financial and market performance.

The objective of this study is to reveal the effect of the market share of credit facilities on the rate of return on assets and the rate of return on equity in Saudi banks. The study sample consisted of all Saudi banks, which included twelve banks listed on the stock market of 2008 and before 2018. The study relied on the analytical descriptive approach by using the Panel Data Analysis. One of the main findings of the study is that the market share positively affects the rate of return on assets, while the market share of credit facilities does not affect the rate of return on equity. Among the most important recommendations in the study is the need to reduce the rate of return on credit facilities, which may contribute to increasing its market share, which will increase the contribution to the achievement of profits and work on the balance between liquidity and profitability by maintaining the market share in the volume of deposits to give the bank the ability To increase credit facilities and thus increase profits in banks and to conduct further research related to the market share of credit facilities in Saudi banks.

The independent variables for measurement of diversification on Board are the number of females and the diversification for Supervisory Board are the number of females only. Other independent variables are average age of Board member, CEO duality and the number of independent directors. We adopt a multi-theoretic approach to investigate a previously unexplored phenomenon in extant literature, namely the differential impact of ownership identity and director dominate shareholding on the performance of emerging market firms. The main research question addressed is, whether the impact of this relationship is conditional on the identity of the block investor. First, the relationship between overall block ownership and firm performance is tested by employing multiple regressions on 500 firm-year observations for the period from 2007 to 2011. Then, the block ownership is classified as the state, individuals, insiders, financial institutions, corporate and foreign investors and the influence of these identities on firm performance is examined. It was found that only the ownership categories such as the government, institutions and foreign ownership have positive influence on the firm performance. The results also indicate that high level of insider ownership also negatively associated with the firm performance. The main contribution of this paper is the examination of the relationship between block ownership and firm performance from the perspective of the identity of investors

The research was conducted to identify the non-interest income variables that will likely affect the financial performance of the joint venture banks of Nepal. The main objective of the study is to analyze the prominence of non-interest income and its effect on financial performance of joint venture banks in Nepal. This study will help the banks to identify other sources of income of the bank and try to look at its impact on the overall profitability and risk intention. To measure the financial performance, the indicator of profitability i.e. returns on assets and return on equity are taken into consideration for the study as a dependent variable and assets size, letter of credit fee, guarantee income, remittance fee, dividend income, exchange income, service charge, and renewal fee as an independent variable. Both descriptive and inferential analyses were performed to capture the relationship. From the result analysis, it is observed that the non-interest income variables that would affect the financial performance of the joint venture banks. It is observed that not all variables have equal effect on the profitability as measure of financial performance, for joint ventures the factors like assets size, letter of credit fee, guarantee income, remittance fee, dividend income, exchange income, service charge, and renewal fee have a significant relationship with the measure of financial performance that is return on assets and return on equity. Apart from the interest income, there are lot of non-interest variables which leads to profitability so the banks looking to increase its profitability with lesser risk need to take these variables into consideration. Results indicate that banks need to keep the non-interest income variables into consideration at times for improving the financial performance of the joint venture banks.
