The present study conducted in the Dallol Bosso fossil valley aims to know the local perception of the level of threat on the Neocarya macrophylla species in order to provide indicators of sustainable management of the natural stand. To do this, surveys were conducted in two agro-ecological zones.The collection of information was carried out through a simple questionnaire based on the woody stand, the sources of supply and the part of the plant taken from the woody food species, as well as the threats they suffer and their causes. It appears that the most dominant species is Neocarya macrophylla ; a multipurpose species among others, used for food, medicine and wood.The survey also reveals the presence of twenty four (24) ligneous foods species among which eighteen (18) are common to both zones. Analyses showed, the excessive cutting of the wood and the unfavorable climatic conditions as the main factors resulting on potential threat of these species. At the same time, threats on Neocarya macrophylla, a characteristic species of Dallol Bosso valley were identified on the field.

Over recent years there have been registered anthrax cases among animals and people in Russia. Anthrax cattle burials remain a basic risk factor that causes epizootic deterioration. A lot of such burials do not correspond to sanitary-epidemiologic requirements especially those located in zones where long-term frozen rocks are now being developed in the northern European part of the country. Our research goal was to examine a situation with anthrax cattle burials in the chosen regions, especially bearing in mind climatic changes and changes in cryolite zones as well as to assess future prospects regarding them. It is especially vital for native people who live in tundra and breed their numerous deer herds there. To achieve the goal, several tasks were accomplished. First, we performed preliminary analysis of anthrax cattle burials distribution in the northern European part of the country and places that were unfavorable as per anthrax. Then, locations of such zones were compared with available data on contemporary development of the cryolite zone in the northern European part of the country. It was necessary to assess future changes in the cryolite zone and describe occurring problems related to anthrax cattle burials being widely spread there as well as to suggest possible ways to solve them. Over the last 50 years considerable spots in the cryolite zone have thawed through completely or partially, especially in an area close to the south border of frozen earth. It is important to know an actual situation with anthrax cattle burials given changing climatic conditions and to assess their future prospects. In order to prevent emergencies in zones where geocryological processes have been activated it is necessary to measure temperature on anthrax cattle burials territories, to assess geocryological threats, to create mathematical models for probable negative events occurrence, as well as to accomplish certain anti-epidemic, anti-epizootic, and preventive activities.

The sessile oak forests found on the northeast of the Iberian Peninsula are ascribed to the Lathyro-Quercetumpetraeae association and play a key role in understanding the ecology of this habitat, as this region represents its xeric limit. For this reason, we analysed the biodiversity patterns and current conservation status of the sessile oak forests in the region. To do so, we collected Braun-Blanquet inventories of 34 plots randomly distributed throughout the sessile oak forests. The results showed a relationship between the climatic conditions and the biodiversity variables. While the richness of the community increased with decreasing temperatures, the characteristic species found within the community decreased at these same temperatures. This result was due to the presence of most companion species in the cool zones at high elevations.Sessile oaks are found close to other communities, such as silver birches and Scot pine forests.On the other hand, in the warm areas at low elevations, the sessile oak community was more established, with plants typical of this type of forest. These slightly warmer zones with sessile oaks are very important in terms of conservation and more vulnerable to climate change and the thermophilization of the community, as has been studied. As such, protecting and managing these forests is key to conserving this community. Nevertheless, as current protection measures do not safeguard most of these forests, it is essential to define a conservation strategy to preserve them. Using the conservation status, we have established criteria to improve the conservation strategy for sessile oak forest on the NE Iberian Peninsula.

Structural composition based on diameter and height class distribution of the tree species of Dudhpukuria-Dhopachori Wildlife Sanctuary, Chittagong, Bangladesh was assessed. A total of 183 tree species having ≥ 10 DBH belonging to 125 genera and 48 families was recorded from the study area. Different species were found to dominate in different DBH classes, i.e. Aporosa wallichii (4.06%), Artocarpus chama (1.54%) and Dillenia pentagyna (0.38%) dominated 10 - < 25 cm, 25 - < 40 cm and 40 - < 55 cm DBH, respectively. Swintonia floribunda was found in maximum (7 out of 8) number of DBH classes. Both the percentage of tree individuals (73.18%) and number of species (169) were highest in 10-24.5cm DBH range. Similarly, Dipterocarpus turbinatus (14.5-24.4m and 24.5-34.4m) and Swintonia floribunda (34.5-44.4m and 44.5-54.4m) were dominant in two height ranges each. On the other hand, height range 4.5 - 14.4 m was dominated by Aporosa wallichii (4.36%). Dipterocarpus costatus, Artocarpus chama, Syzygium firmum and Bombax insigne were found in all the height classes. Both the number of tree species and number of individual stems (167 species; 1,684 individuals) were highest in the height range of 4.5-14.4m. The number of species and tree individuals decreased linearly with increasing height. All these indicate that, there was a sustainable natural regeneration and successful recruitment of Aporosa wallichii, Dipterocarpus turbinatus, Lithocarpus acuminata, Grewia nervosa and Artocarpus chama in Dudhpukuria-Dhopachori Wildlife Sanctuary. Dipterocarpus turbinatus was found as dominant species as it constitures maximum (5.56%) percentage of all tree individuals. At present, climate change is one of the most challenging environmental issues as it poses potential threat to different sectors of economy at global level. Agriculture being an open activity is primarily dependent on climatic factors and change in climatic conditions affects the production, quality and quantity of crop production in an area. This paper attempts to study effects of only two parameters of climate i.e. temperature and rainfall on agricultural production in northwest region of India. Northwest region comprising of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu Kashmir states is the greatest food bowl of India contributing to its food security. The analysis of mean monthly rainfall and maximum and minimum temperatures (1901-2006) shows no significant change in temperature and rainfall conditions from 1901 to 1960; but afterward the change is more pronounced. On the whole any significant change in climatic conditions will not only challenge the food production of the region but also challenge the country’s food security situation.

Number of wild edible plants is commonly used in the traditional diets of tribal people in many parts of the world. North Maharashtra is well known for its tribal region and tribes from this region partially or fully dependent on the wild resources for their nutritional requirements. The present study was designed to document specifically the wild leafy vegetables from North Maharashtra. A total of 62 traditionally used wild leafy vegetable species were collected, identified and documented. Out of 62 species, 61 species belongs to Angiosperms and 1 belong to pteridophyte.  With respect to families Amaranthaceae, Araceae, Asteraceae and Fabaceae were found to be the largest families with 29 species. Herbs are the major source of wild leafy vegetables with 43 species and forest is the home for the majority of wild leafy vegetables. Due to less awareness, loss of vegetation and fast erosion of traditional knowledge many species are on the line of rarity. The study helps to conserve those wild food species and cultivate them on large scales, to uplift their economical status and sustainable management in near future.

The pandemic, which began in 2020, has seriously exacerbated the problem of food security in many countries. The purpose of the research is to identify the main factors of the stability of the agro-industrial complex using the example of one of the Russian regions and to consider the possibility of applying the accumulated experience in other subjects of the Federation. The object of the study is the Republic of Mordovia, a relatively small Volga region, located in the zone of risky farming and consistently demonstrating high rates of agricultural production. The region produces 1.2% of the total volume of agricultural products while its area is 0.2% and a population is 0.54% of the values of these indicators in the country. The study used data from Rosstat, proceedings from authoritative international organizations. One of the main factors for the stability of the regional agri-food complex is the high proportion of agricultural organizations, which is significantly higher than the national average. However, the cultivation of potatoes and vegetables is mainly concentrated in personal subsidiary plots, therefore, along with the implementation of an agricultural policy aimed at the development of large-scale agro-industrial production, it is necessary to organize the purchase of products from the population. This will help raise the living standards of villagers and stabilize the demographic situation. Another factor in the sustainable development of agriculture in Mordovia is the correct choice of intra-industry specialization. The leading industry is animal husbandry, the success of which is largely ensured by the dynamic development of poultry farming: the region accounts for 3.6% of the poultry population in agricultural organizations of the Russian Federation, Mordovia ranks 10th in the country in the production of eggs in agricultural organizations. The current demographic situation poses a potential threat to the development of the agricultural sector. If in Russia 1990-2018 the number of rural residents decreased by 4%, while in the Republic of Mordovia - by more than 30%. Therefore, the priority task of the social and economic policy of Mordovia should be the preservation of the rural population and the creation of conditions for attracting and fixing migrants in the region

Biological invasions have posed a major threat to global and regional biodiversity. The Mediterranean Sea, one of the major biodiversity hotspots in the world, has long suffered multiple and frequent invasion events. This paper represents the screening results of the potential invasiveness of 23 introduced marine fish species, which are classified as neonative and alien. To predict the invasiveness potential of species under current and predicted climate conditions, the Aquatic Species Invasiveness Screening Kit (AS-ISK) is applied. Thresholds have been constituted to classify low, medium and high-risk species by receiver operative characteristic curve analysis (ROC). The calibrated basic and climate-change threshold assessment scores used to classify species from low, to medium to high risk were computed between 27.5 and 33.0 respectively. Based on these thresholds, under current climatic conditions, 15 species were high risk, while the remaining species were medium risk, and the Chaetodipterus faber and the Holocentrus adscensionis switched from the medium-risk to the high-risk group under future climatic conditions. The highest score belonged to Fistularia petimba, followed by Siganus fuscescens, Abudefduf spp., Acanthurus monroviae and Lutjanus argentimaculatus. This study focused on the species that have not been assessed for their invasiveness potential, and the results can provide important insights into their sustainable management in the future.

The paper shows the results obtained during the research of reed dynamics revealing that in Eastern Latvia 20 lakes and pisciculture farms are potentially important for the reed extraction. In 2008, the reed resources there covered a territory of approximately 2300 ha. The ortophoto images of potentially important water bodies made in 1997, 2005 and 2008 were analyzed using the computer program ArcMap. The reed growth develops differently in every water body, but in general the eutrophication of water bodies and the enlargement of reed-covered areas can be observed. The most rapidly the reed occupies new territories in pisciculture farms and shallow lakes. The analysis of reed resource dynamics show that reed-covered areas in this region are expanding every year. The main factors that influence the distribution of reed growths refer to human activities, climatic conditions, hydrological regime in water bodies and natural processes of eutrophication.
