 Background: Household food security in coastal areas can be seen from indicators of availability, access, food utilization and stability. One of the pillars of house hold food security can be influenced by household income.Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the level of household income and the status of household food security in isolated coastal areas in Kalikajang Hamlet, Gebang Sub-District, District of Sidoarjo, Sidoarjo Regency.Method: This type of research was observational study with cross sectional design. The population in this study were all households in the area of Kalikajang Hamlet, Sub-District of Gebang. Sample was determined using simple random sampling technique and using formula from Lemeshow, resulted in 52 respondents included in this study. Primary data was collected through interviews with questionnaires. Data analysis using Chi Square statistical test to test the relationship between independent variables and dependent variables, and logistic regression tests to test whether there is a relationship between all independent variables with the dependent variable.Results: The results of the study showed that from the eight of independent variables tested, there was one variable that was positively related to the level of household food security, namely household income (p-value<0.001).Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the level of income and the status of household food security in coastal areas in the District of Sidoarjo.ABSTRAKLatar Belakang: Ketahanan pangan rumah tangga di wilayah pesisir dapat dilihat dari indikator ketersediaan, akses, pemanfaatan pangan dan stabilitas.  Salah satu pilar yang mempengaruhi adalah pendapatan rumah tangga.Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara tingkat pendapatan rumah tangga dengan status ketahanan pangan rumah tangga di wilayah pesisir tambak terisolir di Dusun Kalikajang, Kelurahan Gebang, Kecamatan Sidoarjo, Kabupaten Sidoarjo.Metode: Jenis penelitian adalah observasional dengan desain cross sectional. Populasi pada penelitian ini yaitu seluruh rumah tangga yang berada di wilayah Dusun Kalikajang Kelurahan Gebang. Teknik penentuan sample menggunakan simple random sampling dengan rumus dari Lemeshow dan didapatkan 52 responden. Data Primer dikumpulkan dengan wawancara dengan kuesioner. Analisis data menggunakan uji statistik Chi Square untuk menguji hubungan antar variabel bebas dan variabel dependen, dan uji regresi logistik untuk menguji adakah hubungan seluruh variabel bebas dengan variabel terikat.Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dari delapan variabel independen yang diujikan, terdapat satu variabel yang berhubungan positif dengan tingkat ketahanan pangan rumah tangga, yaitu pendapatan rumah tangga (p-value<0.001).Kesimpulan: Terdapat hubungan yang bermakna antara tingkat pendapatan dengan status ketahanan pangan rumah tangga  di wilayah pesisir di Kecamatan Sidoarjo.

  Background: The realization of household food security is one of the indicators of national development. Efforts to improve food security by the fulfillment of food people on poverty dominated by smallholders.Objectives: of this research is to analyze the level of household food security according to income, expenditure and proportion of food of smallholder farmers. Methods: This study used cross sectional design with 51 sample households taken through propotional sampling method which has represented 7 farmer groups. Then the data analysis used by spearman and chi-square statistic test. Result: This result showed relation between income p-value = 0.001 (p < 0.05), household food expenditure p = 0.001 (p < 0.05) and proportion of household food expenditure p = 0.001 (p < 0.05) and household food security status. Conclusion: All variable are income, expenditure and proportion of food related to the level of food security of smallholder households.ABSTRAK Latar belakang: Terwujudnya ketahanan pangan rumah tangga menjadi salah satu indikator pembangunan nasional. Upaya untuk meningkatkan ketahanan pangan dengan pemenuhan pangan masyarakat di bawah kemiskinan yang didominasi oleh petani gurem.Tujuan: penelitian adalah  menganalisis tingkat ketahanan pangan rumah tangga menurut akses ekonomi yang terdiri dari pendapatan, total pengeluaran, proporsi pengeluaran pangan.Metode: Penelitian menggunakan desain cross sectional dengan besar sample sebesar 51 rumah tangga yang diambil melalui metode propotional sampling yang telah mewakili 7 kelompok tani. This study aims to determine 1) the condition of household food security, 2) the factors that affect the capacity of women farmers in food consumption in order to achieve food security at the household level, 3) the factors that affect spending foodstuffs on the level households and 4) the capacity of women farmers to achieve household food security in the era of globalization in the city of Pekanbaru. This study uses a cross-sectional study design, located in four districts in the city of Pekanbaru namely District Tampan, District Marpoyan Damai, District and Sub-district Rumbai and Rumbai Pesisir. Primary data was collected using a questionnaire which was distributed to 100 respondents of women farmers selected by simple random sampling. Factors that affect the capacity of women farmers in achieving food security household level are: income, education and nutrition knowledge of women farmers. Factors that affect spending foodstuffs at the household level women farmers in the city of Pekanbaru is the price of rice, household income, number of household members and the level of education. Capacity of women farmers in food processing is still at the low level. Threats of globalization on food security in Pekanbaru city can be resolved by the farmer community empowerment program. Empowerment of women farmers not only to protect the rice trade, but also to uplift the lives of women farmers through programs that improve local agricultural businesses

Sufficient food availability in an area does not guarantee household food security. Household food security is a condition for the fulfillment of food for every household both in terms of quantity and quality. The purpose of this research was to determine the factors related to household food security in Medan City.  The research design used was a cross-sectional design. The location was in Medan Kota and Medan Denai District that chosen purposively with criteria for poverty level is 15-20 percent. The household sample was taken randomly as 120 households with the criteria prosperity (Pra KS and KS 1,2,3). The result of the research shows that 67,5% of households were household food insecurity, and 32,5% of households were household food security. Household expenditure has a relationship with household food security (p= 0,000), while the age of the household head, number of family members, and education level did not show any relationship (p> 0,05). In conclusion, that household expenditure has a direct effect on the status of household food security in Medan City. There needs to be a strategy and active participation from the local government in overcoming the problem of household food security in Medan City.

Surabaya is the capital city of East Java Province and is a large city with a population of 2,807 inhabitants. According to WHO in 2011 showed that 400,000 victims under the age of 25 who died on the highway, with an average mortality rate of 1,000 children and adolescents each day. The cause of the greatest accidents is caused by human factors that do not apply discipline in traffic, low awareness, and lack of knowledge about safety riding. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between safety factor driving with saefty riding behavior on students of SMK PGRI 4 Surabaya. This research is an observational analytic research using research method with cross sectional design. The sample of 74 respondents was taken randomly using simple random sampling technique. Data collection using questionnaires tool filled by respondents. Data analysis in this study using Chi Square test with 5% significance value to see the relationship between independent variables with dependent variable. Based on the research conducted there is no significant relationship between independent variables with dependent variable with p-value exceed the value of meaning. In order to minimize the incidence of traffic accidents involving students it is good that schools always do the provision of a bound regulation that students are required to use SNI helmets when riding a motorcycle, no need to use expensive helmet but just use a helmet that complies with safety standards. Facilities for students are expected to always comply with existing traffic rules while driving.Keyword: safety riding, student, safety riding behaviour

Background: Chronic energy deficiency (CED) that occurs at risk preconception women during pregnancy increased low birth weight (LBW) in infants. Household food security and diet quality are factors that cause CED. Therefore, this study aims to determine the relationship between household food security and diet quality with CED preconception women.Materials and Methods: We used a cross-sectional study design. The subject of 70 preconception women aged 16-35 years registered in the religious affairs office in Sumowono and Pringapus Subdistrict were selected by consecutive sampling method. Weight and height were measured to assess body mass index to determine CED. Household food security was measured using the Household Food Security Scale Module (HFSSM). Food intake data were obtained using the Semi-Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ) and DQI-I (Diet Quality Index-International) to measure diet quality. Bivariate analyses were tested using Rank Spearman and Pearson Product Moment.Results: The prevalence of subjects with CED risk was 48.6% and subjects with  CED was 15.7%. 38.6% of subjects married at the age of 16-20 years, 75.1% of subjects had low household food security and 80% of subjects had low diet quality. There was no significant relationship between household food security and diet quality with CED, namely (p = 0.537) and (p = 0.711). The components of diet quality, namely variation, adequacy, moderation and balance also did not show a significant relationship with CED, respectively with p-value (p = 0.711), (p = 0.523), (p = 0.412), (p = 0.604 )Conclusions: There was no correlation between household food security and CED, also no correlation between diet quality and CED.

Stunting is a condition of chronic growth failure experienced by toddlers that can cause children to experience difficulties in achieving optimal growth and development according to their age. Stunting can be minimized if the factors that affect stunting in the region can be controlled properly. Many factors are thought to influence the incidence of stunting, one of which is food security. If food insecurity occurs in a household, this can increase the proportion of stunting events that are increasing which can directly increase the national stunting incidence rate and will continue to be a major health problem in Indonesia. Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between household food security and household social factors with the incidence of stunting. The research was conducted in Palembang City, precisely at the 11 Ilir Health Center in Palembang. The research method used is a cross-sectional design. The determination of the research sample was carried out by purposive sampling based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the sample that had been determined in this study. The research sample was toddlers aged 0 – 59 months totaling 40 people. Analysis of the data used is chi-square with = 0.05. In this study, it was found that there was a significant relationship between household food security (p = 0.031), and household size (p = 0.000) with the incidence of stunting, while for the variable mother's age (p = 0.393) and mother's education level (p = 0.283) is known to have no significant relationship with the incidence of stunting. Household food security is directly related to the incidence of stunting, families in households who are not food insecure tend to have children under five who are classified as stunting, this is due to the lack of nutritional intake received both in terms of quantity and quality and does not meet the nutritional adequacy standard for stunting toddlers. It is hoped that to reduce the incidence of stunting, the government needs to add a local food-based work program in reducing the incidence of stunting.

Abstract Background One of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic was the weakening of the community's economic condition. The weak economy of the community will have an impact on household food security. This study aims to determine food security in the COVID-19 pandemic situation and the impact of the pandemic on food security in urban and semi-urban areas. Methods A cross-sectional study with a total sample of 517 people who live in urban (Jakarta) and semi-urban (Depok) areas. The research data was collected online and purposively through Posyandu cadres who have access to family/community. Data analysis used the chi-square test and multiple logistic regression. Results There were 65.0% of households had food insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results of the multivariate analysis showed that family income during the COVID-19 pandemic (AOR = 4.2; 95%CI = 2.7–6.7), the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic (AOR = 2.6; 95%CI = 1.6–4.1), and the age of the respondent (AOR = 1.7; 95%CI = 1.1–2.5) was significantly related to household food security after being controlled by husband's work status during the pandemic. Conclusions The COVID-19 pandemic has an impact on employment and income which then decreasing the level of household food security.

Background Acute and chronic child undernutrition is a continuous problem in Ethiopia. Therefore, this study was initiated to compare the prevalence of underweight and its associated factors among children aged 6-23 months in the Kuyu district, North Shewa zone, Oromia, Ethiopia. Methods An observational community-based study was conducted on 612 children (304 from household security and 308 from household food insecurity). A structured and standardize questionnaire was used in this study. Anthropometric measurements were generated using WHO standardize. Data was analyzed using SPSS version 20.0. Bivariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to identify the independent variables associated with underweight (weight-for-age) among children in household food security and insecurity, a p value less than 0.05 with 95%CI was considered as statistically significant. Results The results indicated that 30.9% [95%CI; 25.7, 36.2] and 36.7% [95% CI; 31.8, 42.5] of children were underweight for their age in household food security and insecurity. Low wealth status (AOR=3.2; 95%CI: 1.099, 9.275), poor dietary diets (AOR=5.2; 95%CI: 2.046, 13.27), and lack of breastfeeding for two years (AOR= 2.1; 95%CI= 1.78, 5, 42) were associated with underweight children in household food security. Whereas lack of antenatal care visits (AOR=0.52; 95%CI: 0.12, 0.68) and poor dietary diets (AOR=3.01; 95%CI= 2.1, 17.4) were other independent variables associated with underweight children in household food insecurity. Conclusions This study established that there was a high prevalence of underweight in children from Oromia.  Therefore, introducing household income generating activities are vital interventions in order to overcome the problem of undernutrition in this region.

Background: Households experiencing food insecurity in Indonesia is 30%, while vulnerable to food is 11%. Food insecurity is related to nutrional status. Based on Riskesdas Indonesia data in 2007 the prevalence of underfive children less than 19.6%, decreased to 18.4% in 2010, but increased to 19.6% in 2013.Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze relationship between food security, family characteristics with nutritional status of children aged 2-5 years old at area Puskesmas Wonokusumo Kota Surabaya.Methods: This study was an observasional analytic using cross sectional design. Sample size of 97 from 4101 of underfive children used Lemeshow with simple random sampling method. Collecting data used US-HFSSM questionnary for examine household food security, weight- age index for measuring nutritional status of children. Statistical analysis test used Spearman correlate test and chi square test.Results:Most of mother graduated from primary school by 38.1%, mostly mothers doesn’t work by 85.6%, most of parents income are below average amount IDR 2,363,092 by 53.6%, as well as spending on food consumption expenditure amount IDR 1,724,943 by 7.3%, while mostly household have food insecurity by 54.9%. However, there is relationship between parents incomes (p=0.006) and household food security (p=0.045) with nutritional status of children under five years old.Conclusion: The higher household income the higher food expenditure. Household’s food insecurity is mostly below average expenditure.ABSTRAKLatar Belakang : Rumah tangga yang mengalami rawan pangan di Indonesia sebesar 30%, sedangkan sangat rawan sebesar 11%.Ketahanan pangan erat kaitannya dengan masalah gizi. Besar sampel 97 dari 4101 balita menggunakan rumus Lemeshow dengan metode simple random sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan kuisioner US – HFSSM untuk mengukur status ketahanan pangan rumah tangga, indeks BB/U digunakan untuk menilai status gizi balita. Uji statistik yang digunakan adalah uji korelasi spearman dan uji chi-square.Hasil : sebagian besar ibu balita pendidikan terakhir tamat SD/ sederajat sebesar 38,1%, sebagian besar ibu balita tidak bekerja sebesar 85,6%, pendapatan keluarga sebagian besar kurang dari rata –rata Rp 2.363.092 sebesar 53,6%, sebagian besar pengeluaran rumah tangga kurang dari rata – rata Rp 1.724.943 sebesar 75,3%, sebagian besar rumah tangga rawan pangan derajat kelaparan sedang sebesar 54,9%, Terdapat hubungan antara pendapatan keluarga (p=0,006) dan ketahanan pangan rumah tangga (p=0,045) dengan status gizi balita.Kesimpulan : tingginya pendapatan rumah tangga maka mempengaruhi pengeluaran untuk pangan. Rumah tangga rawan pangan sebagian besar penegeluaran untuk pangan dibawah rata – rata.
