Introduction: Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) usually accompanied by one of the symptoms (nasal obstruction, rhinorrhea) and one of associated symptoms (facial pain and/or hyposmia/anosmia). In addition, most of CRS sufferers have poor sleep quality. Thus, we aim to determine the relationship between the severity of CRS and sleep quality in adult patients. Methods: This study was cross-sectional method study. Consecutive sampling technique with estimate a proportion in finite population formula was used. The variables studied were the CRS severity based on visual analogue scale (VAS), and subjects’ sleep quality based on the Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI). The data collection was carried out using a questionnaire and analyzed using chi-square test and continued with fisher’s exact test. Results: Of the 24 study subjects, 45.8% were male and 54.2% female. 83.3% had a nasal obstruction, 66.7% had rhinorrhea, 54.2% had hyposmia/anosmia, and 66.7% had facial pain. The severity of subject was mild, moderate and severe by 41,67%, 29,17%, and 41,67% respectively. 87.5% had poor sleep quality. There was no significant correlation between the severity of CRS and sleep quality (p=1,00).Conclusion: Although there was no correlation between CRS severity and sleep quality in adult patients, but CRS patients in general had poor sleep.Further study using more subjects, apply objective assessments, and include other more specific will help describe the correlation in population.

Hypertension affects approximately 26% of the adult population and it is a leading cause of death in up to 13.5% worldwide. Hypertension is a disease with the highest prevalence in Indonesia, so good treatment and prevention are needed. Several studies suggest that there is a correlation between hypertension risk factors and the disturbance of sleep quality. Therefore, it is necessary to develop preventive and promotive efforts to obtain optimum blood pressure in patients with hypertension to avoid complications or even death. This study aims to find out the correlation between sleep quality and the value of blood pressure in the elderly ?60 years old in Batu City. A cross-sectional study was conducted in Batu City in 2020. Stratified random sampling was performed to select the respondents. A validated PSQI questionnaire and sphygmomanometer were used to assess sleep quality and blood pressure, respectively. A Chi-Square test was used to test the hypothesis. There were 391 respondents involved in this study. Most of the respondents have poor sleep quality, 205 respondents (52,43%) of which 41 respondents (20%) have normal blood pressure, and 164 respondents (80%) have high blood pressure. The statistical analysis shows a significant correlation (p=0,000) between sleep quality and blood pressure. In conclusion, hypertension is associated with poor sleep quality in the geriatric population in Batu City.

Sleep is a basic human need. Poor sleep quality can have an impact on students' health and academic performance. Nursing students at the end of the level transfer program have the risk of poor sleep quality due to the high academic task load coupled with other assignments besides lectures that can take up student break time. One of the factors that affect the quality of sleep is stress, and among students it is called academic stress. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between academic stress and sleep quality in the final year students of a level transfer program. The study was conducted at one of the campuses in the city of Padang using a correlation analytic research design with a cross sectional approach. The sample in this study amounted to 64 students at the end of the level transfer program with the total sampling technique. This research was conducted from October to November 2019. Data was collected using the Pittsburh Sleep Quality Index and Student Academic Stress Scale research instruments. The results of this study indicate that nursing students at the end of the level transfer program experience poor sleep quality with high academic stress. Correlation analysis provides a linear and positive pattern of relationship between academic stress and sleep quality of nursing students at the end of a level tansfer program, with a very strong correlation strength level, which means that the higher the student's academic stress, the worse the quality of sleep.. It is expected that students can manage academic stress with stress management and time management, so as not to have an impact on the quality of student sleep.

Introduction: emory processing and learning are enhanced by adequate, high-quality sleep of the appropriate duration. It aids memory processing, executive cognitive functioning and concentration. Academic performance of university students suffers as a result of poorer sleep quality. Objectives: To determine the effect of sleep quality on academic performance of undergraduate university level students. Methodology: This is analytical cross-sectional study and non-probability purposive sampling technique was used. The study population comprised a total 300 students, out of which 50 students were not completed the questionnaire. A total of 250 students, 113 male and 137 female students were participated in this study. A structured questionnaire was circulated among bachelor-level students of different universities in blinded from August 2018 to December 2018.  The questionnaire was based on Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index along with other relevant data about the students’ age, gender, and discipline of study, respective semester and grades (CGPA or percentage total). The data obtained was analyzed using SPSS 21. Results: Majority of the students had moderately poor sleep quality (Global PSQI score=5). The 17.6% of subjects scored 5 in PSQI and 14.8% of subjects scored 6 in PSQI. However, the students who scored high CGPA (>3.5) had better sleep quality as compared to those who got CGPA <3.5. Conclusion: Majority of the students having poor sleep quality and their grades might be affected. Furthermore, the students who attaining good CGPA (>3.5) had on an average good sleep quality.

Background Good sleep quality is associated with a diverse range of positive outcomes such as better health, less daytime sleepiness, well-being and proper psychological functioning. Sleep deprivation or poor sleep quality leads to many metabolic, endocrine, and immune changes. Many studies have shown changes in sleep schedule along with worsening of sleep quality during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods This cross-sectional study was conducted among students of a medical college in Kathmandu, Nepal from January 13, 2021 to February 15, 2021. A stratified random sampling technique was used. Data were collected using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Questionnaires that were completely filled were included and analyzed using STATA vs. 15. Results 168(n=190) medical students filled out the questionnaires with a response rate of 88.42%. Around 30% (n=51) of respondents had poor sleep quality (PSQI total score of > 5) with an average PSQI score of 4.24±2.19. Unadjusted logistic regression analysis showed significantly higher odds of poor sleep quality among females (OR, 2.25; CI, 1.14-4.43) compared with male and the relation persists even after adjusting with age and year in medical school (aOR, 2.81; CI, 1.35-5.86).  Adjusting with age and gender, 4 th-year MBBS students had 82% lesser odds of having poor sleep quality compared to 2 nd-year MBBS students (aOR, 0.18; CI, 0.04-0.76). Our study is suggestive of poor sleep quality common among medical students. Conclusions More than a quarter of medical students have a poor sleep quality as per our study. So, education and awareness should be raised among medical students regarding the detrimental effects of poor quality sleep on daily activities, physical and mental well-being, and the overall quality of life.
