 Infant Mortality Rate in Lumajang was always higher than the infant mortality rate in East Java Province. Ranuyoso is a region with the highest infant mortality rate and AKABA in 2013 and 2014, with 33 and 22 deaths. The Government had implemented a program to improve the health and the consolidation scope is monitored by the Pemantauan Wilayah Setempat Kesehatan Ibu dan Anak (PWS KIA). PWS KIA had not been going well according to its purpose as a tool for monitoring the KIA service coverage to increase the range and quality of KIA services. The purpose of this research was to describe the implementation of PWS KIA for indicators of child in Health Center of Ranuyoso which based on attributes of simplicity, acceptability, sensitivity, representativeness, data quality, timeliness and stability. This research used descriptive method evaluative with coordinator midwife, midwives health center and eight village midwives as the respondent. Description based on the attributes of surveillance system showed that PWS KIA indicator of child in Health Center of Ranuyoso was not simple, sensitive but not supported well by the midwives, the data were less quality, not timely and unstable. Alternative solutions to problems that had been found were to performing the advanced analysis to determine the causality amount variables by midwives, holding routine supervision from the senior midwives, procurement of SOP or guidebook for midwives, and computerizing the recording until reporting start from village midwives, also the making of the attendance and expeditions book to record the reporting date of midwives. Keywords: MCTS, attributes surveillance, child health monitoring

MTBS is one of the government’s efforts to reduce infant mortality rate. Most of sick toddler cases found in Situbondo regency are dealing with dengue fever and pneumonia, especially in Banyuputih Public Health Center area. One of the approaches to reduce the infant mortality rate is to consistently fill the MTBS format. However, due to limited manpower and the workload, medical personnel especially midwife could not optimally fill out the MTBS, so that toddler diseases could not be detected early. It is because the filling format and the reporting system of MTBS are not user friendly. The objective of this research is to develop MTBS implementation by using Information Technology System, in order to increase the quality of midwife service in giving midwifery care and reduce the infant mortality rate in Banyuputih Public Health Center area. This research generated a product in the form of information system called e-MTBS

Infant mortality rate in Surabaya was increased in 2015. Simomulyo is a region with the highest infant mortality rate with the number of 16 deaths in 2015 and 12 deaths in 2016. Despite the high infant mortality rate, programs that related to child health indicators have been surpassed the percentage of service coverage. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of Child Health Monitoring System in Primary Health Care of Simomulyo with system approach consisting of input, process, and output variables. The method of this research is evaluative-descriptive with Village Midwifes, Midwife Coordinator, and program officer as research informant. The result of this study emphasized that input variables for data types and data sources have been implemented effectively. Evaluation of process variables for data compilation is indicated as effective, data collection, individual data tracking, and planning of action is indicated as fair, and data analysis is less effective. Evaluation of output variable for service coverage calculation is indicated as less effective. The conclusion of this research is the effectiveness of process and output variables are less effective. Researchers proposed several alternative solutions such as socialization and workshop for all officers and village midwifes, Constructing standardized report form for the use of data analyzing, individual data tracking, and planning of action.Keywords: Infant Mortality Rate, child health monitoring, surveillance system

This study tries to investigate the infant mortality rate and life expectancy based on the 1990 Population Census, and to observe its variations among provinces that take place in the urban as well as in the rural areas of Indonesia. As a whole, the estimate of infant mortality rate and the expectation of life based on the 1990 Population Census is 69 per one thousand life births and 60 years for both urban and rural areas. The variation in the rural areas is larger than in the urban regions.During the period from 1980 to 1990 the infant mortality rate in Indonesia decreased by 4.29 percent annually. If this rate continued to increase till the end of 2000, the infant mortality rate by this time would be 45 per one thousand life births, whereas the expectation of life at birth would become 68 years.Many determinants of infant mortality rates should be taken into account to reduce the figures, particularly the coverage and the quality of the public health service which directly influences the child survival, as well as other determinants which indirectly,yet simultaneously, influence it.

<p>Mother and child health as a key indicator of community welfare is measured by the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR). But why have efforts to reduce MMR and IMR not yet reached the target? This research answers this question by using an approach of cultural values in mother and child health. The focus of this research is on the human life cycle starting from marriage, pregnancy, birth and death in Situbondo Regency, East Java and Ngada Regency, NTT. Research has found four cultural elements that predominantly influence health beliefs, family and community decisions in dealing with maternal and infant health problems. These cultural elements are the religious system, the kinship system, the knowledge system and the livelihood system. These four systems can increase or decrease the risk of maternal and infant mortality. The government must consider the cultural values of the community in making health policies. First, strengthen factors that reduce the risk of maternal and child mortality. Second, reduce the factors that increase the risk of maternal and child mortality.</p>

Indonesia is currently still experienced problems related to the high maternal mortality rate (MMR) and infant mortality rate (IMR). So that the government makes efforts to reduce MMR and IMR. In this effort, in 1994 the government issued the MCH booklet, which is one of the strategies in reducing maternal and infant mortality rates, this strategy involves empowering the community, especially families and communities. In order to ensure the use of the MCH handbook in the community, the implementation of the MCH handbook is coordinated directly by the respective regional health offices. During the pandemic postpartum mothers find it difficult to access health facilities because of the right to service. Therefore, to increase mother's knowledge, both about early detection of complications, health education, health promotion, it is hoped that mothers can support them through the KIA book that every pregnant and postpartum mother has. This study aims to determine the relationship between postpartum mother’s adherence to the use of MCH book as an education to prevent complications in the Pandemic Era in the Sebengkok Community Health Center. This type of research used analytical research with cross sectional design. The population in this study were all postpartum mothers who were in the working area of the pusksemas Sebengkok from January to June 2020. The sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling. Based on the chi square test, the value of ρ = 0.011 was obtained, which shows ρ <α (0.05), which means that there is a relationship between postpartum mothers' knowledge of the use of the MCH book during the COVID-19 pandemic.

ABSTRACTThe escalating infant mortality rate (IMR) in Indonesia has not been able to fulfill the target of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that restrict the limit of IMR to just 12 of 1,000 live births. According to such fact, this research was designed as the application of panel data regression in an IMR case study of East Java from 2013–2017. Regression panel data enable research in describing cross-sectional and time series information. The variety of data availability in this method were capable of producing a high degree of freedom, allowing it to meet the prerequisites and statistical properties. This method was considered the most suitable one for analyzing the rising IMR. This research was classified as non-reactive research. All regencies/cities in East Java served as this study’s population. Data collection included K4 coverage, childbirth assistance, and KN complete coverage. The result of panel data regression showed a significant connection between K4 coverage (0.0230), childbirth assistance (p = 0.0105), and KN complete coverage (0.0205). Adjusted R-Square value was obtained with an amount of 80%, which means that all independent variables were able to explain the dependent one of that value, while the remaining were explained by other factors. This study can provide some suggestions to support IMR in East Java, including handling from the government or related pregnant families to support IMR on an ongoing basis. Keywords: panel data regression, IMR, K4, childbirth assistance, KN complete

Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) is one of the important indicators in public health. Indonesia still has a relatively high IMR compared to the neighboring countries. Based on the Indonesian Demographic Health Survey (IDHS) in 2012, IMR in East Java reached 25.50 deaths per 1000 births. IMR decline occurred during 2012 to 2015. Achievement depends on the factors that influence it. This study aims to create a model of IMR based on maternal and external factors in East Java. The method used was a non-reactive study using 38 districts/cities as sample units in East Java, which came from Central Bureau of Statistics secondary data in 2015. Statistical analysis used multiple linear regression. The results showed the independent variables together affected the IMR (p-value = 0,000 <0.05), but partially influenced by the age of the first married mother (p-value = 0,000 <0.05) and the helper delivery of non-medical personnel (p-value = 0.014 <0.05). The conclusion of this study is the regression equation model for IMR in East Java in 2015, which is IMR = 1,064 + 1,319 * (age of first marriage) + 0.439 * (helper of non-medical births). Suggestions for the Government of East Java Province to implement strategies so that infant mortality cases can be reduced.

Life expectancy is one of the indicators to calculate the Human Development Index (HDI) which determined by infants’ health, toddlers’ health, frequency of liveborn children and death rate in the community. East Java Province has four dominant cultural areas such as Mataraman including the western part of the border of Central Java to Kediri, Madura including Bangkalan to Pamekasan, Arek including north coast of Surabaya to Malang and Tapal Kuda including Pasuruan, Probolinggo, Situbondo, Bondowoso, Lumajang and Jember. Those four cultural areas have different characteristic that can affect public health status especially life expectancy in East Java Province. The analysis aimed to know the correlation between infant mortality rate and life expectancy and to know the differences of life expectancy among four cultural areas in East Java year 2015. This analysis used secondary data obtained from Central Bureau of Statistic of East Java on May, 2017. The data were life expectancy as dependent variable, infant mortality rate as independent variable and cultural areas in East Java as grouping variables. The result showed that there was correlation between infant mortality rate with life expectancy (p=0.000) and there was different in life expectancy among four cultural areas in East Java year 2015 (p=0.000) such as cultural areas Mataraman-Madura, Mataraman-Tapal Kuda and Arek-Tapal Kuda. It suggested the government to continue improving the socio-economic welfare of the community and public health improvement in the Tapal Kuda area which had high infant mortality rate and low life expectancy.

Background: Infant mortality rate (IMR) is a sensitive indicator for monitoring child health and survival. Punjab state in North India is performing better than most of the other states in various health indicators. Punjab’s IMR has shown a rapid decline from 38/1000 live births in 2008 (Sample registration system (SRS) 2008) to 24/1000 live births in 2014 (SRS 2014). This study was planned to assess which of the maternal and child health services is associated with rapid decline in infant mortality rate. Methods: Association between various components of prenatal care, intranatal care and postnatal care, and child healthcare and socio demographic variables (taken from secondary data of District Level Household Surveys) and Infant Mortality Rate (taken from SRS) of Punjab was studied. Spearman correlation coefficient was calculated to measure the association between the variables. Results: Total fertility rate (TFR), women who had institutional deliveries, safe deliveries and mean children ever born are statistically significantly associated with decline in infant mortality rate. Conclusions: In Punjab, maternal and child health indicators are directly or indirectly associated with decline in infant mortality rate. Findings of the study demonstrate that the recent rapid decline in IMR of Punjab is strongly associated with increase in institutional deliveries and decline in TFR and the mean number of children ever born.
