This paper reports the effect of teaching electricity in simple DC circuits using a scientific approach on students’ understanding. The study was a pre-experimental design using 12 students. They were all studying in specific first secondary schools in the sub-urban area in Kasongan City, Katingan Regency, Central Kalimantan Province. This work used the multiple-choice tests to combine reasoning and certainty of response index (CRI). This test was used as pre and post-test, respectively, to assess students’ understanding of electricity in simple DC circuits. As a result, it is found that the secondary students have alternate conceptions about simple DC circuits, such as “electricity comes out of both ends of a cell” and “a circuit uses up the electric current”. On the other hand, the results of this study showed that the use of a scientific approach in learning could help students achieve conceptual change about electricity in simple DC circuits. The findings from the study suggested that there was a difference in students’ understanding of simple DC circuits between pre-test and post-test. The scientific approach to learning seemed to help students achieve conceptual change about electricity in simple DC circuits.

<p class="Abstract">This study aim was to describe students’ conceptual change and investigate the patterns of students’ conceptual change in human reproduction system concept through application scientific approach. The research method was weak experimental with one group pretest-post-test design and the number subject of this study were 34 students, 11th -grade students of SMAN 1 Indramayu. The instrument was three tier test which given at pretest and post-test. Data analyzed used qualitative and quantitative analysis. Qualitative analysis obtained through analyzed student answer then classified into category suitable. Quantitative analysis obtained through calculation N-gain value and one sample t test. The results showed mostly students had a misconception and lack of knowledge on all of the human reproduction concept. After a lesson, a conceptual change occurred, a percentage of students who have scientific concept increased from 27,74% to 79,23% and the average value of N-gain included into category medium (0,69). According to one sample t test, showed that there was a significant difference between post-test and minimum completeness criteria (KKM) value, 75 (amp. Sign 2 tailed = 0,048). Therefore, a scientific approach supported to build the concept. Furthermore, the analysis also showed students’ conceptual change patterns: changed to be positive, changed to be negative, still positive, and still negative. Pattern 4 (lack knowledge to be understanding a concept or changed to be positive) is the most which got 31,69%.</p>

This study aimed to determine whether digital the use of folktales increases the vocabulary mastery of the seventh-year students of SMP Negeri 9 Buru. This research was a quantitative study by using experimental with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The samples consisted of 20 students from a total population of 320 students and were determined through a one-stage cluster sampling technique. Fiftyitems of multiple-choice tests were used to measure the vocabulary mastery of the students in the pre-test and post-test. The data obtained in this study were analyzed using descriptive statistics to determine the mean score and standard deviation between the pre-test and the post-test. A paired sample t-test through SPSS Version 20 was utilized to determine differences in the students' vocabulary mastery before and after receiving treatment. There is a significant difference between the mean scores in the pre-test and the post-test, namely (1.172 &lt;1.438), which indicates that there are differences in students' vocabulary mastery before and after treatment. The results of hypothesis testing proved that the value of t count = 7.528 is higher than t table = 2.093 (p = 0.05, df = 19). The comparison between the two values shows that the value of t count is greater than T table, which means that Ho: digital folktales does not improve vocabulary mastery of the seventh year students of SMP Negeri 9 Buru, is rejected, and H1: digital folktales increase vocabulary mastery of the seventh year students of SMP Negeri 9 Buru, is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that digital use of folktales improved the vocabulary mastery of the seventh-year students’ of SMP Negeri 9 Buru.
