The sample of this research was taken randomly. The the experimental group belong to experimental group included of 30 students while the students of control group belong to control groupwas 30 students. Both classes were given pre-test at the beginning. Then, the students of experimental group were taught by using field trip activity while the control group is taught without field trip  activity. The research findings indicated the results of the research, as follows:  The analysis result of experimental class shows that the mean score of pre-test in experimental classis 45.47 and the means score of post-test is 71.82. It shows that the experimental class experiences improvement in their writing test, and the hypothesis testing indicates that the score of the experimental class students are higher than the control class. It can be seen that the value of p is 0.000 lower than the value at the significant level 0.5. or 0.000<0.05.Andvalue of p is 0.183. It is higher than 0.05 (0.1830>0.05). So the hypothesis testing indicates that the score of the experimental class students are significantly higher than that of the control class. The objective of this study was to know whether or not there are any significant differences between the student who are taught by using the Transition Action Details Strategy and the student who is not taught by using it. This study used an experimental method, a quasi-experimental design. The population of this study was 47 students, and the sample was 47 students was taken by using purposive sampling, those were 24 students of the experimental group and 23 students of the control group. Based on the calculation by using an independent t-test by using SPSS 16, The writer found that t-obtained was higher than t-table (2.868>2.014) at the significant level a=0.05 in two-tailed testing. It meant that there were any significant differences between the experimental group and the control group. So, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and alternative hypotheses (Ha) were accepted. It can be concluded that Transition Actions Details Strategy was significant in teaching writing ability to the eighth-grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Rawabening.

Writing process involves thinking and creative skills. To stimulate the students’ thoughts to express their ideas, clustering technique is effective brainstorming activity to help the students explore their ideas and write consistently. Thus, the objective of this study is to find out whether or not there is any significant difference between the students who were taught in writing descriptive paragraph through Clustering Technique and those who were not. The population of this study was all of the eighth grade students of SMP Srijaya Negara Palembang in academic year 2016/2017. There were three classes that consist of 113 students. The samples of this study were VIII C as a control group and VIII B as an experimental group. This study was conducted by using quasi experimental method with nonequivalent control group design. Then, the data were analyzed by using paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test. The result of independent sample t-test shows that the value of sig. (2-tailed) was 0.00 < 0.05 in the level of significant 0.05. While, the value of t-obtained was 5.213 higher than the critical value of t-table was 1.665 with degree of freedom 76. It can be concluded that the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. It means that there was any significant difference between the students who were taught in writing descriptive paragraph through Clustering Technique and those who were not.

This research discussed how the use herringbone technique  to improve the students’ ability in reading. This research used quasi experimental design that applied a pre-test and post-test design. The data was analyzed by using t-test. The population of this research was the eight year students of SMP Negeri 9 Parepare in academic year 2013/2014. There were two classes, a class for experimental class and a class for control class. It utilized cluster random sampling technique. The number of each class was 30 students. The instrument used in this research was reading test use of herringbone technique in learning reading. The result of this research was a significant difference between experimental group and control group. This indicates the mean score of the post-test of experimental group was 97 while that of the control group was 92. Moreover, the t-test value (7,24) was higher than t-table value (2.021). In other words, Hypothesis Alternative (H1) was accepted and Hypothesis Null (H0) was rejected. This means that Using Herringbone technique can improve the students’ reading comprehension by using herringbone technique.

Abstract: The objective of the study was to find out whether or not there was a significant difference in reading comprehension achievement between the students who were taught by using Predict-O-Gram Strategy and that of those who were not. The method used in this study was a quasi-experimental method. The sample of the study was 54 students, which divided into two groups, namely experimental group (class VIII.B) and a control group (class VIII.C), each of them consisted of 27 students. To collect the data the written test was used in the form of multiple-choice. Before giving the test, the test was tried out to non sample students of the eighth grade students of MTs Subulussalam Kayuagung class VIII. A in order to know whether or not the test was valid and reliable for sample not. The data obtained were analyzed by t-test and the calculation was done with SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) version 20. Based on the result of independent sample t-test, It found that there was a significant difference in reading comprehension achievement between the students who were taught by using Predict-O-Gram Strategy and that of those who were not.   Keywords: predict-o-gram strategy, reading comprehension

The objective of this research was to find out whether the Interactive technique could improve students’ reading comprehension. This was a quasi-experimental research. The population of this research was the eighth grade students of SLTP Negeri 1 Kota Bengkulu which consisted of 193 students. The sample of this research was the class VIII.2 (34 students) as the experimental group and the VIII.3 (40 students) as the control group. The instrument was a reading comprehension test, which consisted of 40 items. Before the pre-test was given, it was tried out to the students of the same level. The result was t-count in the pre-test was smaller than t-table (1.26 < 2.042). This indicated that the groups were of equal ability. For the post-test, in contrast, the t-count was greater than t- table (2.7 > 2.042). This indicated that the interactive technique could improve students’ reading comprehension.

<p>The objective of the study was to find whether there was a significant difference between the students taught using authentic materials and the students taught using non-authentic materials on the students’ writing score. The quasi-experimental design was applied in this study. The population was all the tenth year students at MAN Model Palangka Raya. The samples were determined using purposive sampling. The samples were XA as the experiment group and XB as the control group. The collected data were obtained from test and documentation. The main data were analyzed using ttest formula and SPSS 17.0. The results showed that the mean of pre-test score in experiment group was 59.76 and the mean of post-test score was 72.9. The value difference of both means was 13.14. The mean of pre-test score in control group was 53.8 and the mean of post-test score was 58. The value difference of both means was 4.2. It means that teaching writing procedural text using authentic materials was more effective than teaching writing procedural text using non-authentic materials because the authentic materials taught was appropriate with the level of students’ ability in this study.</p>

This article aims at investigating the effect of interactional approach in improving students’ writing skill as a strengthening of the ability of religious moderation at State Islamic Institute of Kediri. By employing a quasi experimental research design, two groups of students participated in this study. The experimental group was taught by using interactional approach, then the control group was taught by using non interactional approach (self-correction). Direct writing test was used to collect the data, and ANCOVA was used to analyze the data. The finding shows that both approaches can improve students’ writing skill. It can be seen from the improvement of students’ writing mean score from pretest to posttest. The experimental group got 19.18 improvement, and the control group got 16.45 improvement. It seems that the experimental group achieved higher improvement. However, based on the result on ANCOVA calculation, the sig.value obtained was 0.418; it was higher than the significant level (0.05). It means that there was not enough evidence to reject the null hypothesis. There was no significant difference on writing skill between the both groups. Those approaches affect on improvement of students’ writing skill. The implication is that both approaches can be used to improve students’ writing skill. By having good writing skill, they have more chances to do religious proselytizing (dakwah) through producing or writing religious books or written products in English that can be read by many people in the world, and as the form of religious moderation in Islamic higher education.
