The purpose of this study was to determine and describe the partnershipbetween of Surabaya government with local communities on mangrove forestsmanagement in the North Coast Surabaya. This research is conducted byqualitative descriptive method. Based on the research results, it is known that the partnership between the government of Surabaya with the local community (comanagement approach) provide positive value on the mangrove forests management. People who benefit from the mangrove forest participate in determining management decisions that affect their well-being, while the government got benefits from reduced liability manage. In addition, comanagement approach could increase the sense of belonging in the community, so there was a will of its own to preserve mangrove. But in this case, several steps that needs to be done by local government, among others: local government divided each authority were clearly based on formal rules; local government empower local communities associated with mangrove forest management, as well as set up an authorized institution in the management of resources such as beach protection as partners with Surabaya government on collaboration who could represent their respective interests (mangrove forest management) and recognized by the community.

This study aims to determine the shape of local government partnership with community groups in the management of mangrove forests in the village Tongke - Tongke of Sinjai Regency. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive approach. The results showed that the form of partnership that exists is a form of pseudo -partnership or quasi partnership which is an alliance between two or more parties , but do not make it an equal partnership. Planting is done by the government and community groups in the mangrove forest management can be quite good and has the potential to achieve sustainable mangrove forest. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bentuk kemitraan pemerintah daerah dengan kelompok masyarakat dalam pengelolaan Hutan Mangrove di Desa Tongke-tongke Kabupaten Sinjai.Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk kemitraan yang terjalin yaitu bentuk pseudo-partnership atau kemitraan semu yang merupakan sebuah persekutuan yang terjadi antara dua pihak atau lebih, namun tidak melakukan kerjasama secara sederajat.Penanaman yang dilakukan oleh pihak pemerintah dan kelompok masyarakat dalam pengelolaan hutan mangrove dapat dikatakan cukup baikdan berpotensi untuk mewujudkan hutan mangrove yang berkelanjutan.

Mangrove forests are one of the vital ecosystem components for coastal areas. Therefore, conservation efforts are required for mangrove forests to prevent damage to the broader mangrove forests. The study of local communities through a perception and participation approach was conducted to identify the problem of mangrove forests damage. Aspects of community perception play an essential role in the formulation of mangrove forest management to ensure the sustainability of mangrove forests and maintain community welfare. The survey was conducted from September to December 2017. Respondents in this study are fishers and fish farmers in Muara Pantuan village, Anggana Sub-district, Kutai Kartanegara Regency whom their occupation directly related to the utilization of mangrove forests. Results showed that about 50% of respondents recognized the existence and function of mangrove forests. 15% of respondents did not know about the rules of mangrove forests. Even 30% of them very did not recognize. Regarding law enforcement, 43% of respondents did not know about the law enforcement of mangrove forests although almost 85% of them stated that the regulation of sustainable mangrove forests was required. Furthermore, for the participation of the community, about 57% of respondents were actively involved in the conservation of mangrove forests.Hutan mangrove adalah salah satu komponen ekosistem penting bagi kawasan pesisir. Dalam rangka mencegah kerusakan hutan mangrove yang lebih luas lagi maka perlu upaya pelestarian terhadap hutan mangrove yang masih tersisa melalui pendekatan persepsi dan partisipasi melalui kajian masyarakat lokal. Hal ini penting mengingat aspek persepsi masyarakat memegang peranan penting dalam perumusan pengelolaan hutan mangrove agar sumberdaya tersebut dapat dipertahankan dan ditingkatkan sehingga dapat menjamin keleslarian dan kepentingan sosial ekonomi masyarakat sekitarnya. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui persepsi serta tingkat partisipasi masyarakat dalam pelestarian hutan mangrove di Desa Muara Pantuan Kecamatan Anggana Kabupaten Kutai Kartanegara. Kegiatan penelitian di lapangan dilakukan selama 2 (dua ) bulan dari bulan September 2017 sampai dengan Desember 2017. Populasi dalam penelitian adalah masyarakat yang terkait langsung dengan pemanfaatan hutan mangrove yaitu nelayan dan petambak. Persepsi masyarakat Desa Muara Pantuan Kecamatan Anggana mengenai hutan mangrove dimana 50% mengetahui keberadaan dan fungsi hutan mangrove. Tetapi masyarakat tidak mengetahui mengenai peraturan hutan mangrove sebesar 15%, bahkan 30% sangat tidak mengerti atau sangat tidak memahami mengenai peraturan hutan mangrove. Demikian pula mengenai sangsi dimana 43% menyatakan tidak tahu mengenai sanksi pemanfaatan hutan mangrove, Namun demikian 85% responden menyatakan perlunya peraturan untuk pelestarian hutan mangrove. Kemudian tingkat partisipasi masyarakat dalam pelestarian hutan mangrove di Desa Muara Pantuan adalah sebesar 57%, yang berarti bahwa masyarakat sudah cukup aktif untuk mendukung pelestarian hutan mangrove.

ABSTRACTThis research aimed to investigate the Willingness to Pay (WTP) for mangroveconservation of local communities at Salut Mengkabong Lagoon, Tuaran based on theamount of fees imposed on them. The content is based on questionnaire survey providedto local communities from Mangrove Forest Produce (MFP) to their perception inconservation programme. The survey was conducted with a priod of 7 month startedfrom September 2016 until March 2017. Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) was usedto calculate the Willingness to Pay (WTP) whereby 100 respondents were asked tocomplete the questionnaire. From the analysis, it showed that the WTP of localcommunities were affected by their monthly income. Regression model analysis withWTP = -0.087* (monthly income) + 1.789 has been formed. Whereas, the value ofmangrove forest produce (MFP) in Salut Mengkabong Lagoon has been calculated with atotal of RM728 for the direct product while for the non-direct products such as crab,bivalves, seashells and fishes cost about RM721 to RM2472 in a year. The studydocumented mangrove forest contribution to local communities in Salut MengkabongLagoon such as timber; Rhizophora mucronata and Avicennia spp, Seafood; Scyllaserrata, Geloina coaxans, various type of fishes and seashell. From the result, it washope that this study can promote a win-win situation to both local community andstakeholders to come out with an effective supervision to ensure the long-lastingdependency of local communities to the mangrove forests without undermining theirsocio-economic wellbeing.Keywords: Salut Mengkabong Lagoon, Mangroves Forest Produce, local community

Residents of towns near nuclear power plants have been forced to evacuate to other areas due to the nuclear disaster, being scattered and living in various parts of Japan, causing “empty time” which will lead to collapse of the local community in these areas. Dispersed residents hope to restore their hometown along with the community, and the government also puts up restoration of “Kizuna” as a keyword for reconstruction. It is therefore proposed in this chapter to develop a platform that can systematically accumulate information owned by the local government and residents with ICT, for the purpose of restoring “Kizuna”. With this platform, residents mutually dispatch information on daily living on their own. This will help maintain association of information which will be necessary to recollect memories; therefore sharing of such information will be promoted and the “empty time” will be filled.

Mangroves and marshes provide mutual benefits in terms of providing aquatic eco-systems. Swamp forests contribute a variety of services to carry out activities that depend on water resources such as agricultural production, fishing and tourism. Although the benefits are many, but the destruction of mangrove forests is alarming. A major reason for excessive depletion and conversion of wetland resources is often the failure to account adequately for their non market environmental values in developmental decision.  The management role of the relevant agencies will only be effective pending supports by other stakeholders who may benefit directly or indirectly from the mangrove forest. Thus the approach should not only focus on the technical nor economic and socio political issues only but to reinforce the relationships of the players or actors who have interest in the domain of mangrove forest. This study aims to identify the process of governance and its effectiveness in managing the ecosystem and also assessing the role of mangrove forests towards local communities in Kuching Wetlands. Items are analyzed using factor analysis and the factor extraction leads to multiple regression method. The study distinguish that  among the important factors in influencing the public perception of local governance mangrove forests in Kuching Wetlands, are community awareness, handling problems and conflict in the existing rules while other factors were not significant. However, most of the wetland local community does not contribute to ecotourism industry, even though they are aware of the importance if sustaining it. Thus the government can take opportunity to raise the awareness via the potential income that can be generated from eco tourism activities and realizing its importance of sustaining the natural resources.

The implementation of the coastal resource management model must be adjusted to the characteristics of the coastal communities in the coastal area. This study aims to analyze the management model of mangrove forests in Payum Beach. The research location is Payum coastal area, samkai village, Merauke district. The population in this study are coastal communities, traditional leaders and stakeholders associated with mangrove forest management. Sampling uses a purposive sampling technique, which will be adjusted to the information needs of the study. Data collected includes mangrove forest management. Data analysis using descriptive qualitative. The results showed that there was cooperation between coastal communities and the government in carrying out mangrove rehabilitation in the process the government tended to only inform the community about the decisions that would be made. The management of mangrove forests on Payum beach adopts an instructive co-management management model.

Local wisdom and local knowledge are very influential on the life of the Inner Tobelo Community in forest management in the Aketajawe Lolobata National Park in the Aketajawe block in Tayawi. This study aims to analyze the forms of local wisdom in forest management in the Tobelo Dalam community, as well as to examine the collaborative forms of the management of Aketajawe Lolobata National Park based on local wisdom.This study was conducted in February 2018 to May 2018 in the Aketajawe Lolobata National Park Aketajawe Block, Tayawi Hamlet, Koli Village, Oba Subdistrict, Tidore City Islands, North Maluku Province, Indonesia. This location was chosen as the location of the study because seeing the area of community life is still very dependent on the forest around it. The approach used in this study is qualitative descriptive and in-depeth interview with the aim of describing the forms of local wisdom in forest management in Aketajawe Lolobata National Park, especially in the Aketajawe Block in the Tayawi Village which includes land use, the system of labor, and utilization of non-timber forest products and directed also to illustrate how the collaboration model of Aketajawe National Park management is based on local wisdom, in this case the Stakeholders is the local Government and Local Community (Tobelo Dalam Community). The results showed that the existence of local wisdom used by the in Tobelo community in forest management based on rules and sanctions that had existed before had a very positive effect, so that the forest was maintained and sustainable. The collaboration or collaboration model between the government and the in Tobelo community is that the government always involves the Tobelo community in managing the national park aketajawe lolobata with the hope that the national park will be preserved, so far the types of collaboration or collaboration between the local government and the in Tobelo community management of the National Park, namely the government makes several in Tobelo Community as Guides for tourists coming to the National Park and also the government employs several Tobelo Dalam Communities to clean resort offices and National Park guest houses in the Tayawi resort, and making some people also as a security to maintain the office and guest house.

Indonesia is a country that has an area of mangrove forests in the second place of the world. East Java is one of the provinces that have mangrove forests. The mangrove forest has various conditions, not only good conditions but also damaged conditions. The main cause of damage is the conversion of mangrove forests to ponds and the use of mangrove wood as charcoal. Mangrove forest has various functions so that the Indonesian government issues various laws and regulations relating to the preservation of mangrove forests. This study uses a qualitative approach. Data were collected by in-depth interviews and observations. The informants taken were people who lived around the mangrove area. The study location is on the north coast of East Java which includes Lamongan Regency, Gresik Regency, Pasuruan Regency, and Probolinggo Regency. The results of the study show that the majority of people know the mangrove conservation law products. Community knowledge is mainly obtained from the Village Head. Moreover, they do not know the types of law violations or types of law enforcement related to mangrove conservation. People living in mangrove areas know that there are regulations about mangrove forests, even though they do not know the substance.

Increasing population may result in excessive changes of land use and natural resource utilization. Local communities of mangrove forest areas have been dependent heavily on forest conditions to survive. Conversion of forest to development requirements is apparently to affect the structure and income of local communities who live traditionally in the region. The purpose of the study is to understand the structure of mangrove forest vegetation and changes of people's income depending their live on mangrove forests in the Bay of Youtefa, Jayapura. Sampling method was purposive sampling of respondents and mangrove vegetation analysis was conducted using line transect method. The plot size were 10 x 10 m2; 5 x 5 m2; and 2 x 2 m2 used for viewing the ecological importance valua index (IVI) of tree, stake and seedling. The results showed that there were 10 known species of mangrove dominated by Rhizophora apiculata, R. mucronata and R. stylosa respectively. R. mucronata dominated the area and has the highest importance value index (IVI) level. Development structure including means of transportation (flying bridge) have a major impact on the local community Increasing economic losses. There is a decrease of direct income of communities as much as 2.05 billion per year (from 5.65 billion to 3.61 billion per year).Key words: mangrove ecosystem, vegetation structure, economic value, Jayapura.

Recognizing the importance of living needs derived from natural resources, a solution is needed to integrate ecological and economic aspects in order to work in balance. This research specifically examines the perspective of the people of Desa Jaring Halus in relation to the existence of mangrove forest ecosystem based on observation method. This study also analyzed the relationship of mangrove existence with social, economy and local wisdom of local community as well as looking for solution to increase income level of society by using questionnaire. The data derived from the questionnaire were analyzed descriptively quantitative. The results show that 92.85% of people feel the positive impact of maintained mangrove forest. The people of Jaring Halus Village have an unwritten local wisdom in managing and preserving mangrove forests to maintain social and economic sustainability. In order to increase the income level of the community, it is necessary to make a permanent mangrove nursery which is managed by the government performed by the community and marketed out of the village according to its allocation to increase household income by utilizing the development of Jaring Halus Village as Ecosystem Ecotourism Area.
