<p><strong>[<em>Application of Various Concentrations of Gibberellin</em> (<em>GA3</em>) <em>on Kailan </em></strong><br /><strong>(<em>Brassica oleracea</em> L.) <em>Growth with Hydroponic Cultivation System</em>]</strong></p><p>Giberelin adalah zat pengatur tumbuh yang banyak digunakan untuk merangsang pertumbuhan dan perkembangan pada tanaman, termasuk pada tanaman kailan yang banyak dikonsumsi. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh zat pengatur tumbuh giberelin dan konsentrasinya yang optimal terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman kailan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret - Mei 2019 di Kebun Percobaan Fakultas Pertanian, Perikanan dan Biologi, Universitas Bangka Belitung. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan perlakuan giberelin konsentrasi (0 ppm, 20 ppm, 40 ppm, 60 ppm, 80 ppm, dan 100 ppm) diulang empat kali. Pemberian giberelin dilakukan dengan cara perendaman benih sebelum tanam dan dilakukan penyemprotan pada tanaman kailan yang dilakukan dua kali dalam seminggu, dimulai 7 hari setelah tanam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan giberelin dengan konsentrasi 100 ppm memberikan hasil yang tinggi pada tinggi tanaman, diameter batang, luas daun, bobot segar tajuk, dan bobot kering tajuk, dengan persentase kenaikan produksi sebesar 50% dibandingkan kontrol.</p><p><strong>Keywords</strong></p><p>Kailan; Giberelin; Hidroponik</p><p><strong>Abstract</strong></p><p>Gibberellin are plant growth regulators that are widely used to stimulate plants growth and development, including widely consumed Brassica oleracea L. plants. The aims of study to determine the effect of gibberellin and its concentration on growth. The research was conducted in March until May 2019 at experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Fisheries and Biology, Bangka Belitung University. The experimental design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with the treatment were concentrations of gibberellin (0 ppm, 20 ppm, 40 ppm, 60 ppm, 80 ppm, and 100 ppm) with four replication. Gibberelin applied by soaking the seeds before planting and spraying the plants twice a week starting 7 days after planting. The results showed that the application of 100 ppm gibberellins gives the best results on plant height, stem diameter, leaf area, canopy fresh weight, and canopy dry weight, with a percentage increase in production by 50% compared to control.</p>

Los abonos orgánicos constituyen una de las alternativas en el grupo de productos utilizados en la agricultura sustentable, fundamentalmente aquellos que se obtienen a partir de fuentes orgánicas de carácter reciclables como la composta y la vermicomposta. El objetivo del presente estudio fue determinar el efecto de abonos orgánicos en el crecimiento y desarrollo de plantas de col verde. Los tratamientos aplicados fueron vermicomposta, Jacinto de agua, y la combinación 50% vermicomposta y 50% Jacinto de agua y un control, mediante un diseño completamente al azar con cuatro repeticiones. Las variables evaluadas fueron altura de la planta, número de hojas, largo de hojas, ancho de hojas, peso y circunferencia del repollo. Los resultados mostraron que el uso de Jacinto de agua en plantas de col verde estimuló las variables altura de la planta con 23.80 cm, número de hojas con 11.16, largo de hojas con 21.06 cm, ancho de hojas con 17.43 cm y el pesó y circunferencia del repollo con 388.86 55.53 cm respectivamente, sin diferir de la vermicomposta y la mezcla entre ambos. ABSTRACTOrganic fertilizers are one of the alternatives in the group of products used in sustainable agriculture, primarily that which is obtained from organic sources of recyclable nature as compost and vermicompost. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of organic fertilizers on the growth and development of plants of green cabbage. The treatments applied were vermicompost, water hyacinth, and the combination 50% vermicompost and 50% water hyacinth control through a completely randomized design with four replications. The evaluated variables were plant height, leaf number, leaf length, leaf width, weight and circumference of cabbage. The results showed that the use of water hyacinth plants stimulated variables green cabbage plant height with 23.80 cm, number of sheets 11.16, along with 21.06 cm sheets, sheet width 17.43 cm and weight and girth cabbage  with 55.53 g 388.86 cm respectively, without differ from the vermicompost and the mixture between them.

<p>Wood fiber waste of arenga produced from starch palm industry. It is not handled properly so that could be potentially cause problems for the surrounding community. Wood fiber waste of arenga is potentially used as a medium for hydroponics. The waste can be utilized to get a new composition of hydroponic media. This study aims to determine the effect of a mixture of sand with arenga fiber waste. This research was carried out by using a mixture of sand and arenga wood fiber waste as a medium. This is an experimental study using a completely randomized design. This study aims to determine the effect of a mixture of sand and arenga fiber waste for kailan growth. The results showed that the mixture of sand and arenga wood fiber waste has no effect on kailan growth. The combination of mixtures of sand and arenga fiber waste showed no interaction. Observations on plants such as plant height, number of leaves, leaf greenness levels, the fresh weight of crop stover and stover dry weight of the plant, showed a row of the highest results in the media mix washed sand, washed sand and rice husk</p>

Bromeliads have been gaining ground in the economic scenario due mainly to their use as ornamental plants. Bromeliads of the genus Dyckia exhibit different morphologies, and therefore, have relevance in this market. However, some species are threatened due to the extraction of plants from their natural environments. Many of these species are endemic and native to Brazil and there are few studies on their seed physiology; hence, expansion of research into this topic is essential. An alternative for the preservation of such plants is the production of seedlings using seeds. To this end, the objective of this work was to evaluate the physiological potential of seeds of Dyckia brevifolia, Dyckia beateae, and Dyckia excelsa at different temperatures, and determine the number of days to carry out the tests. A completely randomized design was adopted, with three species of Dyckia, analyzed separately, and four temperatures (20, 25, 30, and 35 °C). The following were evaluated: first germination count, germination, germination speed index, length of seedling, and seedling dry weight. The data were analyzed using the Sisvar software for normality and homogeneity, and when the assumptions were met, they were subjected to analysis of variance using the F test (p < 0.05) and the means were compared using the Tukey test at 5% probability. Seeds of D. excelsa emit the radicle more quickly at 20 and 35 °C; however, temperatures of 25 and 30 °C provide better conditions for seedling growth and development. The greatest vigor of D. brevifolia seeds is observed at temperatures of 30 and 35 °C. Seeds of D. beateae emit the radicle more quickly at 20 °C, and the largest seedlings are observed at 35 °C. The first germination count of D. brevifolia, D. beateae, and D. excelsa should be evaluated on the third day after sowing. The germination evaluations for D. excelsa and D. beateae should be carried out on the ninth day after sowing, and those for D. brevifolia on the sixth day after sowing.

The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum concentration of shallot extract to the growth of grape cuttings grape cuttings. This study was conducted from September to December 2015 in the city of Bengkulu. This research used Completely Randomized Design with a single factor and five replications. Treatment concentrations of 0% (control), shallot extract concentration of 25%, 75% and 100%. The variables measured were the time to sprout, shoot height, the number of leaves, number of roots, fresh weight and dry weight of cuttings. The results showed that the concentration of shallot extract 100% concentration enhances the growth of grape cutting, time to sprout, and the concentration of extract 50% increase shoot height and number of leaves on grape cuttings.

<em>Gotu kola is one of the medicinal plants that has begun to be cultivated by the Indonesian people. It’s cultivation needs to follow the GAP to produce the qualified yield, including the use of fertilizers. Biofertilizers have been widely developed to reduce adverse effects of chemical fertilizers to the environment, thus an organic cultivation method can be an alternative. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of biofertilizer on growth and yield of gotu kola. This research was an experimental study with a completely randomized design (CRD) using 8</em> <em>planting media treatments consisting of (a) Soil + manure + dolomite; (b) Soil manure + 1 g biofertilizer; (c) Soil + dolomite + 1g biofertilizer; (d) Soil + manure + 3 biofertilizer; (e) Soil + dolomite + 3 biofertilizer; (f) Soil + manure + 5 g biofertilizer; (g)  Soil + dolomite + 5 g  biofertilizer;  and  (h)  Soil +  3 g</em> <em>biofertilizer. Parameters observed were leaf area, stem length, number of leaves, number of tillers, fresh weight, dry weight and asiaticoside content. The results showed that combination treatment of biofertilizer (1 g) with dolomite (30 g) gives better effect in increasing the number of tillers and number of leaves, while the combination of biofertilizer (5 g) and dolomite (30 g) is the best for asiaticoside levels in gotu cola.</em>

<p>Ginger (<em>Zingiber officinale</em>) is one kind of plants to be processed as traditional medicine, drinks, and spices. the smallest type of ginger that has many benefits as medical plant. Demand for ginger plants growing in the community is increasing. Additions of manure and arbuscular mychorrhizal fungi (AMF) can increase the quality and quantity of ginger. This was conducted to obtain the kinds of manure and levels of AMF to ginger to produce optimum growth and yield. This research used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of two treatment factors, namely planting medium and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF). Results were analyzed by analysis of variance and if there is a real difference continued DMRT 5% level. The results showed that the differences in the kinds of manure and the levels of AMF increase growth and yield of ginger. Chicken manure application showed the highest results in the fresh weight of stover plant, dry weight of plant stover, fresh weight of plant rhizomes, and dry weight of the rhizomes. Whereas the additions of AMF 15 grams per plant in zeolite showed the highest results in the number of plant tillers, dry weight of plant stover, fresh weight of plant rhizomes, and dry weight of the rhizomes.</p>

This study aims to determine effects of production of Brachiaria decumbens grass on different drought stress treatments. Research was conducted at the Greenhouse Faculty of Agriculture University of North Sumatera from Desember 2016 until April 2017. The design used was Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with three treatments and seven replications. The treatment consisted of three levels of drought stress which were control (100% field capacity=fc), medium drought stress (25% fc), and heavy drought stress (50% fc). The variable were fresh weight production, dry weight production and plant height. The results showed that drought stress treatment control (100% fc) significantly (P<0,05) affect fresh weight production, dry weight production, but not plant height. It is concluded that increasing water volume of field capacity increase production Brachiaria decumbens grass.

A pot experiment was carried out to assess the comparative effects of Trichoderma-enriched biofertilizer and farmyard manure on the growth and yield components of brinjal (Solanum melongena L.). The treatments were T0 (control), T1 (Trichoderma-enriched biofertilizer 5 t/ha), T2 (Trichoderma-enriched biofertilizer 10 t/ha), T3 (Trichoderma- enriched biofertilizer 15 t/ha), T4 (Farmyard manure 5 t/ha), T5 (Farmyard manure 10 t/ha) and T6 (Farmyard manure 15 t/ha). The experiments were laid out in completely randomized design (CRD) with three replications of each treatment. Among the different treatments T3 showed best as much as twice more effective than farmyard manure in increasing growth and yield parameters (plant height, fruit length, fresh weight and dry weight of stem, leaf and fruit) of brinjal plants. Overall, all the treatments increased macronutrients and micronutrients content and uptake by brinjal plants over control. Analysis of post-harvest soil samples also revealed that all the parameters except pH were increased due to different treatments. Dhaka Univ. J. Biol. Sci. 29(1): 1-8, 2020 (January)

Geranium `Yours Truly' in 15-cm diameter plastic pots were greenhouse-grown as single pinched plants in a completely randomized design. Plants were irrigated with 300 mg/liter N from 20N-4.4P-16.6K with leaching fractions (LF) of 0, 0.1, 0.2, and 0.4. There were 24 irrigations during the 8-week study. Plants with LF of 0.2 and 0.4 had 46% greater leaf area, 40% greater top fresh weight, and 37% greater top dry weight than plants with LF of 0 and 0.1. By week 5 the leachate electrical conductivity (EC) for LF of 0.1, 0.2, and 0.4 had increased from about 3 dS/m initially to 12, 8, and 4 dS/m, respectively. At harvest, medium ECe was 7, 4, 3, and 2 dS/m for LF of 0, 0.1, 0.2, and 0.4, respectively. At harvest, medium pH was the same in the top, middle, and bottom thirds of the pot. At harvest medium ECe with LF of 0.1, 0.2, and 0.4 was 47, 68, and 60% lower in the bottom two-thirds of the pot than in the top third. With a LF of 0 the medium ECe was not lower in the bottom of the pot. Minimizing the LF for potted geraniums substantially reduced plant growth.

Katuk (Sauropus androgynus (L.) Merr.) is an indigenous leafy vegetable whose growth is affectedby nitrogen element. This study was aimed at assessing the agronomic performance of four katukaccessions grown with various rates of cattle urine. A factorial completely randomized design wasused. The first factor was katuk accession consisting of four levels, namely Pandeglang, Cianjur,Sukabumi, Leuwiliang, and Kemang. The second factor was cattle urine rates consisting of 5 levels,namely 0%R cattle urine (0.0 ml/plant), 50%R cattle urine (468.75 ml/plant), 100%R cattle urine(937.50 ml/plant), 150% R cattle urine (1406.25 ml/plant), and 100%R urea (8.2 g/plant). Thegrowth and productivity of katuk of Cianjur accession had the highest number of buds, total lengthof buds, number of leaves, number of leaflets, fresh weight, and dry weight. The utilization of 50%R,100%R, and 150%R of cattle urine was found to have higher fresh and dry weight than did theutilization of 0%R cattle urine and 100%R urea. The best quality katuk was Cianjur accessionwhich was found to have the highest vitamin C and chlorophyll contents. No significant effects ofall treatments were found in all vegetative variables except plant height and root fresh and dryweight. It was concluded that cattle urine could be used as a urea substitute.Key words: Sauropus androgynus, number of buds, dry weight, indegenous plant
