A common complaint from university lecturers is that students are ‘not interested’ and that it’s ‘difficult to get students engaged in learning’, portraying a passive student nature and student-blame culture. This paper draws on experiences at a university in a developing nation, Sri Lanka, where a student-led national insurrection led to thousands of student deaths, requiring universities to change teaching attitudes and the methods used to train those graduating. The article describes how a teaching-learning partnership evolved and was sustained to improve student learning and skills. Lecturer training-course comments and related student responses were analysed and lecturers were asked to use a 'script' when teaching. Initially, the script had only an 'Instructional Component', responding directly to staff complaints that students failed to follow, or followed poorly, guidance for effective learning. When that too failed, a further analysis led to the incorporation of a 'Motivational Component' to this script, which specifically clarified for students the partnership roles of teachers and students in order to bring about specified student learning benefits. This proved most effective in embedding a successful teaching-learning partnership, which engaged students and increased learning; it also changed lecturers' culture and their conceptions about student passivity.

The students achievement of learning civics in SD Negeri No. 09 Parit Kecamatan Sungai Siak Apit Kabupaten Sungai Siak is still below the minimum completeness criteria specified. This is due in teaching learning process, the teacher has the ability to appropriate learning models, so that students are less motivated.Efforts are being made to overcome these problems is through learning model CTL.The purpose of this study is to improve student learning outcomes in learning Civics. The type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK), with the subject of research teachers and students of class V as many as 28 people, male as many as 16 people and women as many as 12 people. The research was conducted in SD Negeri No.09 Parit Kecamatan Sungai Apit Kabupaten Siak, which consisted of two cycles of two meetings in the first cycle and two meetings in the second cycle. This research uses CTL learning model as its research object.Instrumentation used in this research is observation sheet and test which analyzed with percentage. The results showed that the students' learning outcomes in the first cycle of meeting I was 55.71% and in cycle I in meeting II was 65%.In the second cycle of meeting I is 80.36% and on second cycle of meeting II is 85%. The implementation of Civic learning using CTL learning model in cycle I have not been able to improve student learning outcomes. In cycle II the use of CTL learning can improve student learning outcomes in accordance with both criteria. Thus, learning Civics with learning models of CTL can improve student learning outcomes well.

Low activity, student creativity in the learning process can result in the teaching and learning process being less than optimal so that the material presented is incomplete according to the expected completeness criteria. From the results of observations and discussions with the history subject teacher, information is obtained that the learning system has not fully involved students as the subject of learning consequently the final result to be achieved, namely individual and classical learning completeness with KKM (minimum completeness criteria) has not been achieved. One of the efforts made to improve the process and student learning outcomes, a learning method is used that makes it easier for students to compile and understand information or the content of the lesson text in increasing understanding of social studies subject matter so that learning outcomes are expected to increase, through the use of the SQ3R method. Based on the background of the problem, the formulation of the problem in this study is: "How are the students' learning outcomes increased through the SQ3R method in history learning for students of XII SMA Negeri 1 Tembilahan Hulu Indragiri Hilir? "The purpose of this study is to determine the activities of teachers and students as well as the improvement of student learning outcomes in history subjects through the SQ3R method for class XI SMAN 1 Kateman Indragiri Hilir. The conclusion of this study is that the student learning outcomes, before CAR the average daily test was 64.3, after the CAR based on the daily test cycle I increased to 81.8 and was included in the good category. In the second cycle of daily tests, it increased again to 92.8 and was included in the very good category. Thus, the use of the SQ3R method can improve student learning outcomes in history learning for class XII at SMAN 1 Tembilahan Hulu, Indragiri Hilir Regency

The study was conducted because there were problems with the students' learning outcomes. Problems faced by students that is less than the maximum use of tools or learning media, so that students lack the spirit of learning and less interested and less active in following the science lesson in the class . To overcome these problems, then conducted research using Snowball Throwing model which aims to know the implementation Learning and improve students' learning outcomes. The type of research is Classroom Action Research. Data collection tools used at the time of the study are observation sheets and tests validated by validators. The study was conducted in 2 cycles and each cycle was held for 2 hours. Based on the research results obtained the observation of teachers and students who expressed good category. The average of student learning outcomes in cycle I and II is 69,27 and 72,5. In cycle I, there are 20 (74,10%) students complete KKM whereas in cycle II there are 24 (88,90%) students complete KKM. Completeness of student learning outcomes has been completed in a classical way. Based on the results of the research it can be stated that the use of Snowball Throwing model can improve student learning outcomes in science lessons of natural resources materials and the results in class IV SD Negeri 050604 Bekiun year 2016/2017 lessons.

Low student learning outcomes are a problem in schools, including where researchers teach. As an effort to improve student learning outcomes is the application of the quantum teaching learning model. This research was conducted on fifth grade students of SDN 022 Bathin Solapan with a total of 35 students. This research is a classroom action research. The instrument used was a learning outcome test. The results of this study found that the average initial data of students was 59.71 with 11 students who completed, in the first cycle, there was an increase with the average student learning outcomes being 68.14 with 23 students who achieved mastery, in cycle II student learning outcomes have reached the expected success indicators, namely the average student learning outcomes amounted to 75.28 with 32 students who were able to achieve the minimum passing criteria. The conclusion that can be drawn is that the application of the quantum teaching learning model can improve student learning outcomes.

This study aims to determine whether the application of inquiry learning method can improve student learning outcomes in class XII MIPA I Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Medan 2019/2020 Academic Year. This research is a classroom action research study consisting of 2 cycles. Each cycle consists of 4 stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques used were observation and test. The test consists of pretest, posttest Cycle I, and posttest Cycle II and observation includes the activities of teachers and students. The results showed an increase in student learning outcomes. The improvement process can be seen starting from the initial test with the breakdown of 49 students obtained by 15 students (30.61%) who received complete scores, while 34 students received incomplete grades. In the first cycle post-test, it increased to 30 students (61.22%) who received complete marks, while 19 students (38.78%) received incomplete grades. In the Post Cycle II out of 49 students, 47 students (95.91%) received complete marks, while 2 students (4.09%) received incomplete grades. Thus it can be concluded that the application of inquiry learning method can improve student learning outcomes in the subject of Civics Education majoring in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Medan in 2019/2020 Academic Year.
