Reducing the gap between professional opportunities of graduates of medical education institutions and needs of patients is the priority of medical education. The introduction of interactive methods, in particular the case study method, can help solve this problem. The aim of this study was to investigate how the application of the case method in medical education affects the learning outcomes of students and acquisition of practical experience. Case method was used to identify its impact on the acquisition of practical skills, abilities and clinical experience by future physicians. Students’ opinions on the effectiveness of the case method in gaining practical experience were surveyed. The study showed that the case method helped students find solutions required by clinical situations, as they used not only theoretical knowledge, but also acquired practical skills and clinical experience. The case method also increases students’ confidence in their professional abilities. This experimental study proved the high efficiency of using the case method in medical education to gain practical experience by students in the education institution. It can be useful for scholars and educators who are looking for, developing and implementing effective teaching methods that allow students to acquire the necessary competencies.

This article discusses the concept of humane schools in the context of contemporary knowledge society, from pedagogical aspect. The authors specifically indicate that the knowledge society achieves its true meaning and proper importance as well as full pedagogical potential, only when the values on which it is based are defined, and what kind of knowledge it implies. The basic features of humane school are discussed, their interdependence explained and major paradoxes that may occur in this regard perceived. Listening to the voices of some ancient thinkers that can be clearly heard, the authors discover deep roots and distant traces of important arguments in favor of the implementation of a school of thought in a new way, that is authentic humane school. Accordingly, it is concluded that on the uncertain and laden with contradictions road towards European knowledge society for the 21st century and the humane school in it, we need solid guidelines. By all accounts, these guidelines may be sought and found in the creatively transformed and newly assumed ideas of ancient Greek philosophers and in their global application on lifelong education for all people, i.e. for each man as a conscious and self-responsible human being.

The scope of this review essay on The pre-history of the Knowledge Society is to introducenew explorations (writings, research projects and web resources) into early moderncultures of knowledge c. 1500 to 1800. It focuses mainly on German and Anglo-Americanscholarship from the last two decades. The dialogue between these traditions,e.g. the material-orientated ‘information history’ and the often more anthropologicalinformed field of ‘Wissensgeschichte’, has been almost non-existent. Bringing the twotraditions together is a purpose in itself with this essay. A common focal point in theexploration of early modern knowledge cultures, it is argued, is an emphasis partly onthe practices of knowledge management, whether practical or mental, and partly onthe hybridity of knowledge. Notable and exemplary books, articles and projects fromthis broad field are divided into thematic headings: actors of knowledge, practices ofknowledge, places of knowledge and media. Finally, the burgeoning interest in earlymodern practices and norms of scholarly production is suggested as representing botha reorientation and a retro-orientation of Humanities in the digital age.

Chronic urticaria (CU) is an urgent medical and social problem. The instruments of everyday clinical practice are international and domestic guidelines which briefly reflect modern ideas about various aspects of CU. Recently, a new opportunity has emerged to expand theoretical and practical experience in the management of patients with CU, to carry out educational activities to disseminate modern knowledge about urticaria, to conduct research in the field of studying the pathogenesis, treatment, and prevention of exacerbations of the disease. This opportunity is realized through the centers of excellence for working with such patients (GALEN UCARE centers). One of the five Russian centers, have prepared and conducted an online training program "Chronic urticaria: scientific and medical achievements and practical aspects of patient management." at the Federal State Budgetary Institution State Research Center "Institute of Immunology" FMBA of Russia. The event was held by the employees of the Federal State Budgetary Institution State Research Center "Institute of Immunology" of the FMBA of Russia on November , 2020.

Abstract For more than fifty years, expansion has rightly been the dominating theme in university reform in Germany, paving the way for broad access to higher education and a modern knowledge society. Now that over 50 per cent of high school graduates enter universities, the federal level (Bund) and the states (Länder) are beginning to complement these reforms with a renewed emphasis on quality in teaching and research, both by improving student to professor ratios and research conditions. But this – gradual – reform shift has raised concerns among Länder administrations, as well as among academic commentators, whether these reforms are feasible under German constitutional law. Ever since the first Numerus Clausus decision of the Bundesverfassungsgericht in 1972 recognized a “right to study”, university admission has been heavily constitutionalized. Every piece of reform is subject to close judicial scrutiny whether it unduly limits university capacities to take in new students. A political shift towards increased quality, the concerns go, risks failing overly rigid constitutional standards. But this is not the case. Our law-in-context-approach shows that the constitutional rules that govern university admission are much less “over-constitutionalised” than is commonly assumed. They provide ample room even for considerable shifts in reform agendas, such as towards increased quality in teaching and research.
