Abstract Background: Most Japanese daycare centers do not accept ill children, even if they only have minor symptoms. Nurseries for children with mild illness have been developed (mostly in urban areas), but use of these nurseries dropped sharply during the COVID-19 pandemic. There are two possible reasons for this decrease: efforts to prevent COVID-19 infection reduced common infectious diseases in children and eliminated the need for these nurseries, or parents refrained from using these nurseries because they feared a COVID-19 outbreak. This study aimed to clarify the reason for the decreased use of these nurseries. Methods: Data on trends in common infectious diseases reported by sentinel medical facilities to public health centers in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan from January 2018 to March 2021 were provided by the Hiroshima CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention). The number of monthly users of nurseries for children with mild illness in the 23 municipalities in Hiroshima Prefecture over the same period was obtained by a questionnaire survey. Multiple regression analysis was used to assess the association between the numbers of nursery users and common infectious diseases before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Results: The regression coefficient between the number of users of these nurseries and number of common infectious diseases did not change between before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, except for an increase in intercept during the pandemic. Conclusions: The decreased number of children with mild illnesses using nurseries during the COVID-19 pandemic was related to the decrease in common infectious diseases, and not to parents refraining from using nurseries because they feared a COVID-19 outbreak. Many parents may still have wished to use nurseries for children with mild illness during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The high traffic in OKI Jakarta is not only influenced by mavements in but also commuters from sub-urban areas like Bekasi District. For that we need to know the characteristics and distribution of the movement from North Bekasi to Jakarta. The purpose of this study was to determine the distribution of travelling from Bekasi to Jakarta. The research methods used are the establishment of Inter-Zone Travel Time Matrix, trip generation modeling (multiple regression analysis), Travel Distribution Modeling. In addition, the quantity method is used to identify travel time, total travel costs and advanced modes are used when using public transport. Based on the results obtained by the analysis of trip generation models Y = -1.44 of public transport + 2:14 of private vehicles. Trip distribution of Bekasi's population towards OKI Jakarta are Central Jakarta (261 trips/day), East Jakarta (180 trips/ day), South Jakarta (125 trip/day), West Jakarta (74 trips/day), and East Jakarta (87 trips/day). The different of travel time between private vehicles and public transport is average 30 minutes. Private vehicle users must expend more vehicle surcharge of Rp. 11 553 which compared with public transport.

Background. Prevalence of childhood asthma varies significantly among regions, while its reasons are not clear yet with only a few studies reporting relevant causes for this variation.Objective. To investigate the potential role of city-average levels of air pollutants and climatic factors in order to distinguish differences in asthma prevalence in China and explain their reasons.Methods. Data pertaining to 10,777 asthmatic patients were obtained from the third nationwide survey of childhood asthma in China’s urban areas. Annual mean concentrations of air pollutants and other climatic factors were obtained for the same period from several government departments. Data analysis was implemented with descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis.Results. Pearson correlation analysis showed that the situation of childhood asthma was strongly linked with SO2, relative humidity, and hours of sunshine (p<0.05). Multiple regression analysis indicated that, among the predictor variables in the final step, SO2was found to be the most powerful predictor variable amongst all (β=-19.572,p< 0.05). Furthermore, results had shown that hours of sunshine (β=-0.014,p< 0.05) was a significant component summary predictor variable.Conclusion. The findings of this study do not suggest that air pollutants or climate, at least in terms of children, plays a major role in explaining regional differences in asthma prevalence in China.

Pedestrian bridges as urban infrastructurs, could play a critical role toimprove aesthetic qualityof urban areas. In Tehran, most of the pedestrian bridges are built in a similar structure regardles to the visual characteristics of their environments. However, many studies haveconfirmed the importance of harmony between aesthetic qualityof the bridges and their context. This study attempts to identify the role of context in aesthetic perception ofpedestrian bridges and to identify the visual attributes that affect the preferences through a photo-questionnaire survey. Therespondentswere 384 students from Tehran's universities and they were asked to rate 34 scenes of similar structure pedestrian bridges in different urban settings. Data were analyzed by using factor analysis to reveal preferences dimensions and the factors that may affect the preferences dimensions. In addition, the participants were asked their opinions regarding attributes that they perceived important for pedestian bridges aesthetic. Subsequently, a multiple regression analysis was employed to examine relationship between preferences and aesthetic attributes. The triagulation of results from preference dimensions and multiple regression analysis reviled the importance of visual attributes in setings of the pedestrian bridges and underlined the role of context in the aesthetic preferences of pedestrian bridges. These factors should be considered during planning and design processes in order to improve aesthetic qualities of pedestrian bridges in urban landscape.

SummaryRe-examination of the polygyny–fertility hypothesis, by multiple regression analysis of the 1988 Ghana DHS data, reveals that polygyny has no effect on the number of children ever born; i.e. polygynously married women are as fertile as those monogamously married. Husband's age has no significant role in determining the number of children ever born to a woman.

Seaweed-Kappaphycus-Euchema Cottonii and Denticulum species was first cultivated at Sabah side of Sebatik in 2009. By November 2014, sixty one Sabahan seaweed farmers cultivated 122 ha or 3,050 long lines. Thirty Sabahan seaweed farmers in Kampung Pendekar (3.2 m.t dried) and 31 in Burst Point (12.5 m.t dried) produced 16 metric tonnes of dried seaweed contributed 31% to Tawau’s total production (51 m.t). The remaining 69% were from farmers in Cowie Bay that separates Sebatik from municipality of Tawau. Indonesian in Desa Setabu, Sebatik started in 2008. However, the number of Indonesian seaweed farmers, their cultivated areas and production (as well as quality) in Sebatik increased many times higher and faster than the Sabah side of Sebatik. In 2009 more than 1,401 households in Kabupaten Nunukan (including Sebatik) cultivated over 700 ha and have produced 55,098.95 and 116, 73 m.t dried seaweed in 2010 and 2011 respectively. There is a divergence in productions from farming the sea off the same island under similar weather conditions. Which of the eight explanatory factors were affecting production of seaweeds in Sebatik? Using Cobb Douglas production function, Multiple Regression analysis was conducted on 100 samples (50 Sabahan and 50 Indonesian). Results; Variable significant at α = 0.05% are Experience in farming whereas Farm size; Quantity of propagules and Location — Dummy are the variables significant at α 0.01%. Not significant are variables Fuel; Age; Number of family members involved in farming and Education level.
