Dental avulsion is still public health problem and tooth replantation has important unsuccess rates due to root resorption. Strontium ranelate (SRAN) presents antiresorptive property on the bone tissue and stimulates bone formation. So we aimed to comprehensively review the literature to 1- understand the mechanism of action of SRAN regarding to its propaedeutic in periodontics, dental implantology, oral surgery, orthodontics and endodontics, 2- present the current scientific knowledge about the SRAN efficiency on tooth avulsion; 3- observe fails and gaps in the literature and open up for unexplored ideas for SRAN uses and applications. An electronic search was performed crossing the key words ‘strontium ranelate’, ‘periodontics’, ‘dental implantology’, ‘oral surgery’, ‘orthodontics’ and ‘endodontics’, PubMed/Medline, Lilacs and BBO electronic databases were searched for research articles, reviews of literature, animal laboratory studies and laboratory studies, which had been published in English until July 2020. Twenty-five articles fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The available literature demonstrates that SRAN provides a really better propaedeutic on the bone tissue and that the topical applications show a lower risk of side effects. That open up new perspectives and for the use of SRAN as a potential storage media for avulsed teeth.

The article presents the results of laboratory studies of the effect of sorption-detoxifying means on the accumulation of 90Sr in the body of white rats. The efficiency of a number of selective and polyfunctional sorbents, detoxicants and other biologically active substances and the developed on their basis sorption-detoxifying complexes as means of efferent therapy and detoxification of the animal body at the combined intake of xenobiotics of radiation and chemical nature was evaluated. It was found that 90Sr cumulation in bones (at the level of 53,3–60,8%) was reduced to the greatest extent with the combined use of substances of different mechanisms of action and origin. The effectiveness of separate use of detoxifying drugs did not exceed 29,1%.

Investigation of biomechanical properties of the rabbit bone tissue from a corner of the lower jaw was done. Experimental osteoporosis was induced by ovariectomy and following injections of methylprednisolone. The defects in the greater trochanter region was created and filled with granules of a hydroxyapatite and tricalcium phosphate (HAP/TCP 30/70) or HAP/TCP 30/70 together with 5% strontium ranelate. After 3 month animals were euthanased, squared samples have been cut out from a corner of the lower jaw and tested on a bend. Results of research show, that the corner of a lower jaw in rabbit becomes more rigid after filling of defects in the greater trochanter region with granules of a hydroxyapatite and tricalcium phosphate (HAP/TCP 30/70) or granules together with strontium ranelate. The ultimate strain for the bone tissue in the 2nd and 3rd group is less, than for control group. Thus, local uses calcium – phosphatic bioceramic material around the greater trochanter region improves biomechanical parameters of a bone tissue in the lower jaw of animals.

AbstractMethoprene, when incorporated into the food of laying hens at concentrations of 0.005 and 0.01%, produced 70.9 and 99.3% larval mortality, respectively, among house flies (Musca domestica L.) reared in the resultant poultry droppings. Exposure to the treated diet did not produce any weight loss in the chickens. However, it was not effective when the poultry droppings were treated topically under field conditions. In laboratory studies, when incorporated with moistened droppings, concentrations of 0.001 and 0.0001% produced complete larval mortality throughout a 7-day exposure period, though only 98% mortality was achieved on the first day at the higher concentration. Concentrations of 0.5 and 1.08 of the compound in fly food produced only a low order of sterility. Topical applications produced a low order of sterility except in the insecticide-susceptible females.

Introduction: Dental avulsion is a condition in which the tooth is completely dislodged from its socket. Inappropriate management when trauma occurs can complicate the prognosis of the tooth. The majority of injuries to children's teeth occur in the school environment and teachers play an essential role in providing first aid at the accident site. However, the school teacher’s knowledge regarding first aid dental avulsion is inadequate. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of an animated video (First Aid Management of Dental Avulsion) on the knowledge of primary school teachers. Materials and methods: This clinical experimental study comprised 54 teachers from 13 public elementary schools in Central Jakarta who were chosen randomly to fill out a questionnaire before and after watching the animated video. Results: Data analysis using the Wilcoxon comparative test showed that there was a statistically significant increase (P<.05) in knowledge after watching the animated video. Conclusion: Thus, the animated video was effective in increasing the knowledge regarding first aid management of dental avulsion among the primary school teachers. Keywords: audiovisual aid; first aid; school teachers; tooth avulsion

ABSTRACTThe aim of this report is to present the case of an accidentally avulsed maxillary central incisor kept in saline solution from the moment of trauma until its replantation 3 h later in a 13-year-old girl. The avulsed tooth was replanted back into the alveolar socket and splinted with composite resin. Calcium hydroxide intracanal dressing was used to prevent inflammatory root resorption. Radiographic and clinical examinations were performed during 27 months follow-up. During the 15 months follow-up period, the tooth remained in a stable functional position and did not reveal replacement resorption. But mild infraocclusion and root resorption were developed 21 months after replantation. The amount of damage to tooth and supporting structures, emergency treatment and follow-up period play a role in the prognosis of the avulsed tooth. It can be recommended to keep the avulsed tooth in saline solution at least when more appropriate storage media are not on handle immediately.

This study aimed to evaluate the systemic effect of strontium ranelate (SR) on peri-implant bone tissue. Thirty-six adult rats were divided into three experimental groups: sham (SHAM), ovariectomized (OVX) and ovariectomized rats treated with strontium ranelate (OVX-Sr). Strontium ranelate (625mg/kg) was administered by oral gavage on a daily basis. The implants were installed on the tibiae. The euthanasia occurred 42 and 60 days after the implants were installed, and the biomechanical (reverse torque); PCR-RT; histological; immunohistochemical; confocal microscopy and histometric analysis were performed. Quantitative data was subjected to statistical tests with significance level set at p<0.05. Significant increase in implant reverse torque in OVX-Sr was observed when compared to OVX. PCR analysis showed an increase in the genetic expression of the proteins responsible for bone formation in OVX-SR. In the histological analysis, SHAM and OVX-Sr showed a higher degree of maturation of peri-implant bone tissue. Ran-Sr presented higher immunolabeling for ALP and OPN proteins when compared to OVX. In the confocal microscopy, OVX-Sr there was good bone neoformation showed by incorporation of Alizarin red fluorochrome. The histometric analysis, bone implant contact (BIC) and neoformed bone area (NBA) presented statistically difference among all groups, and the Ran-Sr presented the highest BIC. Thus, strontium ranelate improves osseointegration and quality of neoformed bone tissue around implants in estrogen deficient rats.
