The paper offers a conceptual model of the effectiveness of the Business Intelligence (BI) system and organizational performance from a view based on organizational alignment. Considering that organizational alignment mediates the basic relationship between the effectiveness of the BI system and performance. The theoretical framework maintains that the effectiveness of the BI system has a positive impact on organizational performance. The empirical evidence adopts the partial least squares method by exploring the Tunisian context and carrying out a survey of 126 industrial companies in Tunisia that have set up a BI system. Our findings state that the effectiveness of the BI system has a positive impact on organizational alignment, and the latter has a positive impact on business performance. The theoretical and managerial implications are put forward highlighting the human, technological and relational aspects alongside the subject, of setting up the BI system.

<em>Organizational learning has the potential to improve organizational performance. For any organization to sustain long term benefits it requires to establish a mechanism to tap the knowledge and use this knowledge in taking future decisions. This study tries to capture the role of Organizational Learning and Employee Motivation and its impact on the Employees’ Performance. The study is exploratory and descriptive in nature. The questionnaire used for primary data collection has its items collected and derived from various standardized questionnaires available. The analysis of the primary data shows that there is a positive correlation between Organizational Learning and Organizational Performance. On understanding Herzberg theory of motivation the study came to conclusion that employees consider hygiene factors of motivation more significant than the motivator factors. The motivation level of employees in an organization has positive impact on the overall performance of any organization. The study helps the organizations to understand the relationship between learning and performance considering motivation as a mediating variable. </em>

In the last few years, due to the surge in the attention towards leadership and the lack of a review mapping the effects of leadership on organizational performance, we believe its coherent to provide a clear review on leadership and how it affects organizational performance. This paper aims to review empirical studies on leadership and organizational performance with the aim of constructing a comprehensive model to conceptualize existing literature. The authors reviewed main journals with impact factor of over 2 and all Leadership titled SSCI journals. As a result, 687 studies published between 1957 and 2017 were analyzed, out of which 486 met the criteria of being empirical studies on leadership and performance. Out of the 486, 20 articles used Organizational Performance as their dependent variable, thus were included in our model. In doing so, the authors aim to extend the field in three ways: First, based on their review, the authors mapped a comprehensive model of the effects of leadership style and leadership characteristics through moderators and organizational mediators on organizational performance. Second, the authors, through vigorous examination, display and evaluate existing variables and measures on leadership and organizational performance within the literature. Finally, the authors aim to contribute to the field by presenting a detailed future research agenda and practical considerations for managerial implications.

Authentic leadership is a positive leadership theory, conceptualized under the influence of positive psychology and positive organizational behaviour movement. Although it has become a recognized leadership theory, it is still somewhat neglected in the hospitality literature. To address this gap, the paper seeks to develop and test a conceptual model linking authentic leadership to organizational performance in the hospitality context. Hypotheses were tested using hierarchical multiple regression analysis on a sample of 226 employees from 24 hotels in Croatia. The research results confirmed the positive impact of authentic leadership on hotels’ operational performance, which was mediated by followers’ job satisfaction and performance. There was no empirical support for the hypothesized impact of authentic leadership on hotels’ financial performance. The findings suggest that authentic leadership behaviours, together with positive organisational settings, characterized by flexible organizational structure, are more likely to enhance desirable employees’ attitudes and behaviours, resulting in improved organizational performance.

This study evaluated the relation of implementing the green supply chain management on the entire business performance. This research has been done on the organizations in the e-commerce industry based in Karachi, Pakistan. The research has found that there is a direct relationship between green supply chain management, which includes the variables, Cooperation with Suppliers, Green Purchasing, Green Logistics, And Cooperation with Customers and the organizational performance. The results showed that business performance grows if the green supply chain management enhances operational efficiency and operational efficiency. The study has found and that the implementation of the sustainable supply chain in the firm has a positive impact on the economic performance of the company and competitiveness, hence provide a competitive edge to the company. This study also provides a clear image of how important the green chain plays a part in the organizational performance and that is for the well-being of the employees.

There is an increased emphasis in the management literature on the use of strategic management as the primary means of adapting organizations to their changing environments. for firms in the maturing hospitality industry to survive and succeed, they will have to depend upon their ability to strategically align themselves with the turbulent environment and select appropriate strategies to create defendable competitive positions. Success in strategy implementation depends partly on a proper match between strategy and organizational structure and this match is expected to have a positive impact on financial performance. This study was conducted to explore the relationships among strategies of restaurant firms, their organizational structure and financial performance. The top management team in 296 American multi-unit restaurant firms were surveyed. Results regarding relationships posited among strategy, structure and performance are presented.

BI is a broad category of business applications and technologies for gathering, providing access to, and analyzing data for the purpose of helping business enterprise users make better business decisions. BI enlarges business performance, thus leading to higher level of efficiency, better quality outputs, better marketing decisions, and lessened risk of business failure in order to gain a competitive advantage in the global business environments. It is important to create and develop a BI system to enable the useful transformation of information into the valuable knowledge for enhancing BI in organizations. This chapter contributes to the existing evidence on the constructs of shared leadership, social, and emotional capitals to demonstrate their significant galvanizing effect on team and organizational performance through trust. This study aimed to ascertain how leadership self-efficacy might influence shared leadership team, trust, and performance in this IT Company. Managers with self-reported ratings for the self-efficacy attributes cluster of leadership demonstrate greater probability of improving both perceived and actual employee performance. The emerging results concur with the aforementioned premise because these appear to emphasize the leadership self-efficacy attributes cluster of problem solving. These results may have a positive impact on the team and organizational performance as a whole.

This exploratory study analyses the effects of the technical and organisational characteristics of business intelligence systems (BIS) on knowledge sharing, collaboration, and decision-making processes. The authors conducted a two-phase multi-method investigation. First, we surveyed 30 enterprises using BIS on a regular basis; then, we engaged in an in-depth case study with one of the respondent companies. Our results show that, on average, the technical and organisational characteristics of the BIS are positively associated with an increase in knowledge sharing, leading to an improvement in internal collaboration that subsequently brings improvement in the quality of decision-making. This case study adds that the way the BIS is designed and appropriated in organisations is important in obtaining such results is. A BIS being designed so that it can be appropriated by the general employee base is key in obtaining the desired organizational impacts. This suggests some requirements for BIS design that we will discuss in terms of theoretical and managerial implications.

Restaurants tend to be small businesses, operated almost in a self managed way, by their entrepreneur owners or a contracted manager. The way these managers conduct their business depends much on their individual abilities to run the company. This research aimed to investigate the possibly existing influences between individual entrepreneurial orientation (IEO), service strategy (SS) and business performance (BP). A construct was developed to run the study, including hypothesis joining the three influences. Questionnaires using Likert scale were built and validated. Survey was conducted with 260 restaurant, bars and hotel owners or managers. Data were analyzed through modeling of structural equations. Results confirmed the three hypothesis: H1: IEO positively influences SS; H2: IEO positively influences BP; H3: SS positively influences BP. Theoretical contributions were made through the construct building. Managerial implications are listed, in order to help restaurant management better run their business.
