This article is based on a research aiming to contextualize the fundamental principles of art and design to current setting in which analog media are no longer chosen as the ultimate hardware/tools. It is important considering digital hardware becomes more and more prevalent even preferred by students, whereas analog tools are getting harder to obtain, expensive and less ecological friendly. The goal of this research is to produce method analysis and the creation of two-dimensional basic design through digital media (Camera) followed by conventional drawing tools, documented and conducted by the lecturers and the students. So far, almost 100% of the studies concerning basic design could only be found in foreign publications, with visual work examples that cannot be used freely in Indonesian local education due to copyright issue. Therefore, a literature study is conducted to examine the formal objects of this research which are the elements and fundamental principles in design, followed by ideation and visualization processes carried by the students in basic design classes through the semester. The visualization itself will integrate analog and digital media to generate the material objects of the research, which is a series of two dimensional design compositions. These compositions are then analyzed and classified to taxonomic category of fundamental principles of two-dimensional design as an integral part of teaching-learning process (self-evaluation class for future improvement).

The moral decadence of this age is very worrying for the world of education. Various problems arise from the inability of students to self-control so that they fall into crime. Surely this needs to be found a solution. This study tried to find a method of learning about adab and its application from Abu Bakr al Jazairi. This study uses the method of literature study (library research). The results of the study found that the application of adab to self begins from repenting (Repentance) to God as a sign of awareness of human weakness and humiliation, then always under the supervision of Allah SWT (muraqabah) in every circumstance, always conduct self-evaluation (Mahasabha) and struggle to control yourself (mujaahadah).

3D animation and modelling has been known as one of the main subjects in the field of Arts and Design in Malaysia. This subject is applicable to all fields in the Faculty of Art and Design, including courses offered at the Universiti Teknologi MARA. As we all know, this 3D subject requires students to have great visual skills. In order to produce an attractive design, students need to have good memory, cognitive, and perceptual skills. However, problems arise when final year students of graphic design and digital media departments are found to be incompetent in that aspect. Thus, this study aims to investigate the problems and identify the most suitable time to apply so that the problems can be solved when students are in their final year of study. While clothing is produced and consumed rapidly, it strives to create appropriate forms and to create appropriate identities by giving correct messages; therefore, it is one of the most important fields requiring art and design education. The fashion design student, who forms the infrastructure with basic art education and figure drawing, not only transfers the imagination to the two-dimensional plane with the fashion drawing lesson but also transfers it to the two-dimensional plane; at the same time, he takes art and design education, which is aesthetic education, and feeds his visual vision and mind. In this research, the Fashion Drawing Lesson has been examined in detail in terms of determining the place, position, importance, processing and content of the Fashion Drawing Lesson in the official fashion design curriculum and a comprehensive literature search has been conducted; then the matter has been tried to be examined thanks to a link has been established between education, fashion, art and design disciplines. The course syllabus in Turkey and some of fashion design course programs in the world were examined; the experts providing fashion formal education and the students who received fashion formal education were interviewed face-to-face to obtain information first-hand. First of all, the study started by determining the fashion design undergraduate programs in the OSYM (Assessment Selection and Placement Center) placement guide and examining the course hours, course times and course contents of the fashion formal courses in these programs. The researcher visited the designated universities for the purpose of on-site observation and interview, and conducted semi-structured interview questions and face-to-face interviews with experts and students and recorded them. The transcribed interviews were analyzed using content analysis method and the findings were interpreted within the framework of the research questions. The findings were interpreted and discussed, and after the results were written, suggestions about the study were included. As a result, it has been determined that the admission of students to the fashion design program should be made with the combination of central examination system and talent exam suitable for fashion design education. It was seen that the time granted for the program was not sufficient in mean of implementation of the fashion drawing lessons properly in the fashion design education programs. PurposeDigital media has revolutionized societies and changed forever how we do business. This paper aims to determine the current scope of service research in the area of digital media, identifying research gaps and introducing new research contributions to complement our knowledge of digital media.Design/methodology/approachBased on all service articles of the SERVSIG literature alert system from 2016 to 2019, a subset of digital media articles was identified and latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) text-mining methods were used on the abstracts and titles of the articles for topic modeling of the field. Dominant research topics were identified and depicted in a two-dimensional space.FindingsThe study identifies eight distinct topic areas of digital media in service research and shows their relationship to each other in a two-dimensional space. A clear tendency in service research towards taking primarily a customer (versus business perspective) of digital media can be observed. Further, for some journals, a trend towards specialization on particular topics could be detected.Research limitations/implicationsThis article advocates for more digital media research with a stronger business perspective. Further, although particular new technologies are exciting to discuss, it seems that the importance of customer relationship topics in digital media is not reflected in the current digital media research as needed.Originality/valueThe article uses a quantitative–explorative approach to determine the current state of research in regard to digital media in services. The authors introduce 11 new studies that aim to close the knowledge gap in critical areas of digital media.

In the past few years, several new publications and exhibitions have presented surveys of the genre of artists’ magazines. This recent research has explored the publication histories of individual titles and articulated the significance of this genre within contemporary art history. Millennium magazines was a 2012 exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art that traced the artists’ magazine into the 21st century. The organizers, Rachael Morrison and David Senior of MoMA Library, assembled a selection of 115 international tides published since 2000 for visitors to browse during the run of the exhibition and created a website as a continuing resource for information about the selected tides. The exhibition served as an introduction to the medium for new audiences and a summary of the active community of international artists, designers and publishers that still utilize the format in innovative ways. As these projects experiment with both print and digital media in their production and distribution of content, art libraries are faced with new challenges in digital preservation in order to continue to document experimental publishing practices in contemporary art and design.

Digital computers are “protean” in that they can become almost anything through software. Their basic design elements came from a 19th-century British tradition in logic, exemplified by Boole and Babbage. It seemed natural to have logic realized in hardware. This tradition culminated in the work of Alan Turing who proposed a universal computing machine, now called a Turing machine, based on logic. Although hardware that computes logic functions lies at the core of digital hardware, low-level practical machine operations are grouped together in “words.” Programs are based on hardware operations controlling computation at the word level. This chapter presents a detailed example of what a computer does when it actually “computes.” Because human cognition finds it hard to use such an alien device, there is a brief discussion of how programming became “humanized” with the invention of software tools like assembly language and FORTRAN.
