Slow speech-language development and reduced communication skills can affect weaker experiences in different activities. The aim of the research was to determine interests and aspirations for sports of deaf and hard-of-hearing students. The sample consisted of 94 examinees, divided into two groups. The first group consisted of 47 deaf and hard-of-hearing students, and the second, control group, the same number of their hearing peers, both sexes, average age of 16 ± 1.27 years. The test used for research was Test for Interests and Aspirations of Students of 20 Assertions - Indicators of attitudes about participation and opportunities provided by eight different activities, of which sport is one of them. The obtained data were processed with descriptive analysis, and the differences between the groups tested with the t-test. Deaf and hard-of-hearing students recognize the importance of dealing with sports, but feel that they do not participate enough. The examinees without hearing impairments pleaded more favorably about participation in sport activities than examinees with hearing impairment, and the statistically significant difference was established. Statistically significant difference was not determined in the case of pleading about the possibilities provided by sport. Deaf and hard-of-hearing students believe that sport can have significant impact on better socialization, wherefore it is necessary to include these persons in sport activities at an early age.

Background: We aimed to systematically evaluate the efficacy of high-voltage pulsed current (HVPC) in the treatment of pressure ulcer. Methods: We searched the databases of PubMed, Cochrane Library, Elsevier and EMBASE to identify randomized controlled studies on the application of HVPC in pressure ulcer treatment, up to January 2019. Two authors independently screened the literature according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, extracted the data and evaluated the quality. RevMan 5.3 software was used for statistical analysis. Four randomized controlled trials involving a total of 176 patients were included in the study. Results: Meta-analysis showed that the percentage of wound area reduction in the HVPC treatment group was higher than that in the control group (95%CI 24.59, 47.76, P<0.001). Descriptive analysis showed that there was no significant difference in wound healing between the HVPC treatment group and the control group. One study reported that there was contact dermatitis, and the rest of the studies reported no adverse events. Conclusion: Compared with the conventional therapy, the combination with HVPC therapy can reduce the area of pressure ulcers more effectively. However, due to the small number of the studies included in this evaluation, the conclusions need to be verified by more high-quality studies.

<p><em>The purpose of this study was to determine differences in students' mathematical communication skills based on gender with learning using metacognitive strategies. This research method is a quasi-experimental design using a pretest-posttest control group design. The sampling technique used was saturated sampling which consisted of 19 male students as the first experimental group and 17 female students as the second experimental group. The instrument used was in the form of a five-point essay test to measure the aspects of students' mathematical communication skills after being given a treatment, namely learning using metacognitive strategies. The pre-test mean score shows that female students are higher than male students, on the contrary, the average score of the post-test results, it is known that male students are higher. The data were analyzed using the t-test, it was concluded that there was a significant difference between the mathematical abilities of male and female students. This difference is consistent with several previous research results, although not a few studies also state that there is no significant difference between students' academic abilities based on gender.</em></p>

This research aimed to gain the value of responsibility implicitly through activity-based values education tasks (ABVET) prepared in secondary school science lessons. The research was carried out with the embedded quasi-experimental design, one of the mixed research methods. The study group of the research consisted of 37 middle school students in total. Non-parametric tests were used to analyze the quantitative data obtained within the scope of the research and descriptive analysis was used in the analysis of qualitative data. The Dilemma Situations Form (DSF) developed by the researchers, activity documents, student and researcher diaries, and focus group interview form were used as data collection tools. Lessons were taught in the control group as curriculum in practice. In the experimental group, lessons were taught by the researchers with an enriched content and activity program aimed at gaining responsibility value. It was concluded that there was a significant difference in favor of the experimental group between the post-test scores of the experimental and control groups. It was concluded that ABVET was effective in gaining responsibility value to sixth grade students with the data obtained from the DSF, activity documents, student and researcher diaries and focus group interview form. This research shows which method, technique, and material can be preferred for values education in science courses included in education programs. Given the promising results of the current research, methods or techniques related to the constructivist approach such as the appropriate values education program, ABVET should be used for different science subjects, various courses, and grade levels in future studies.

Background: The aim of this study was to examine the effectiveness of sexual skills training and communication skills training on the sexual attitudes of married women. The statistical population of the present study consisted of all married women aged 18 to 45 years old in Tabriz in 2014. Methods: The quasi-experimental research design consisted of three groups (pre-test and post-test) using a comparative method. Individuals were randomly placed into three groups with 15 individuals each: a sexual skills training group, a communication skills training group and a control group. All individuals were tested before starting the training sessions. The two experimental groups received educational interventions consisting of eight sessions of 60 to 90 minutes, while the control group did not receive any training. Following the training sessions, all groups completed a post-test. The Sexual Knowledge and Attitudes Scale (SKAS) was used to collect the data; covariance analysis (ANCOVA) was used to analyze the results. Results: Based on the analysis, the results of a consequential least significant difference (LSD) test indicated a significant difference between the communication skills training method and the sexual skills training method in their roles in affecting women’s sexual attitudes positively. The P value for the communication skills group was 0.014 and 0.914 for the sexual skills group, indicating the communication skills training method was more effective. Differences are considered statistically significant at P>0.05. Conclusions: Communication skills training can have a positive impact on sexual attitudes and may be a preferred training option to reduce couples’ sexual problems.

<p><br /> Telomeres are strands of non coding DNA at the ends of chromosomes that have the primary function to protect DNA from damage and maintain chromosomal stability. Physical exercise will increase the antioxidant activity can increase telomere proteins, lengthen telomeres and or protein networks associated with telomere so that the telomere remains long, or stopping telomere shortening. Telomere length was also associated with age. The purpose of the research was to determine telomere length of leukocyte cells in the KONI athletes in Jakarta,<br /> The research method is descriptive, by measuring telomere length using quantitative PCR on leukocyte cells. Samples are KONI athletes from several sports, including men and women athletes, with ages between 15-20 years. Used a control group (not athletes) is students of the Faculty of Medicine, University of YARSI. The results showed that there was no significant difference (p&gt; 0.05) between telomere length group of athletes with the control group in both sexes. Similarly, telomere length between athlete male with female athletes also showed no significant difference (p&gt; 0.05). It was concluded that physical exercise in athletes KONI at the age of 15- 20 years had no effect on telomere length in leukocytes. The results of this study provide information about the telomere length  in Indonesian athletes at an early age</p>

Introduction. Mental health problems develop more and more frequently in children and adolescents. Children with physical illnesses are at a particular risk of developing associated mental health problems and it is important to study this association in order to detect and treat these problems on time. This study was aimed at determining whether there were differences in the presence of mental health problems and delayed speech development in children with physical illnesses between 18 and 36 months of age compared to the presence of these problems in healthy children. Material and Methods. The study was carried out as an observational cross-sectional study. It included 100 children, of both sexes, aged up to 3 years. The first group consisted of 50 children with physical illnesses that were hospitalized at the Institute for Child and Youth Health Care of Vojvodina, and the control group consisted of 50 healthy children of the same age who attended kindergarten ?Radosno detinjstvo? in Novi Sad. The instrument of the study was ?A checklist of child behavior for children aged 1.5 to 5 years?. The hypothesis was checked with t-test for independent samples. ?A survey of language development for children aged 18 to 35 months? was used for assessing the language development. The second part of the hypothesis was checked with chi-square test. Results. A statistically significant difference was detected in the following dimensions of the questionnaire: emotional reactivity, anxiety / depression, withdrawal, aggression, stress, internalization, externalization, and total problems. A statistically significant difference was also found in the area of language delay. Conclusion. It has been concluded that mental health problems, as well as the language delay, are more pronounced among the children with physical illnesses than in the control group of children.

A repetition task was employed to investigate syntactic patterns of hard-of-hearing children. The subjects were 11 students enrolled in public-school classes for the hard-of-hearing. A matching control group of normal-hearing children was selected from the same schools. It was found that both groups tended to use grammatical constructions rather than nongrammatical approximations. The hard-of-hearing group, however, achieved significantly lower means in each grammatical form tested, and tended to substitute simpler forms. This lower level of performance seemed to represent a difference of degree rather than kind, as the experimental group displayed linguistic performance similar to the control group but showed a general delay in language development.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to evaluate the prevalence and distribution of hypodontia, inside and outside the cleft area, in an Italian population with a non-syndromic unilateral (UCLP) and bilateral (BCLP) cleft lip and palate on panoramic radiographs and comparing it with a control sample. Study design: Case group was ethnically uniform and consisted in 233 patients. The control group was composed of 1000 subjects. Patients included were between seven and fifteen years old. Descriptive analysis, using absolute and relative frequencies, was performed to check out the prevalence of gender distribution, hypodontia and cleft formation. Statistical analysis was conducted with Chi-squared test, Yate's correction and the Fisher's exact test. The power was set higher than 0.8 for each test. Results: 160 cleft patients (68.68%) presented at least one missing tooth, while 88 patients in the control groups presented agenesis (8.80%). A statistically significant difference was found in case and control groups for upper lateral incisors (37.34% and 48.07% in the case group against 2.50% and 2.60% in the control group), upper and lower second premolars (8.58%, 6.44%, 5.58% and 6.01% in the cleft group and 0.60%, 0.60%, 2.50% and 2.70% in the control group). Conclusion: Higher prevalence of dental agenesis in the maxillary dental arch is explained by the cleft defect. Higher prevalence of mandibular second premolars agenesis cannot be explained by the anatomical defect and suggests a multifactorial aetiology, including environmental and genetic factors, of the cleft condition.

The empathic tendency, communication skills, and critical thinking are the professional attitude behaviors that should be in a physiotherapist. The study was planned to investigate the effects of creative drama on empathic tendencies, communication skills and critical thinking of physiotherapy students. This study was carried out in Hasan Kalyoncu University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation between October 2017 and December 2018. 75 freshman physiotherapy students (44 women, 31 men) were included in the study.  According to the results obtained from the study; there was no significant difference between empathic tendencies, communication skills and critical thinking skills of individuals in both groups (p> 0.05). When the creative drama group was compared in terms of gender, there was no significant difference between individuals' empathic tendencies, communication skills and critical thinking skills (p> 0.05). Similarly, when the control group was compared in terms of gender, there was no significant difference between individuals' empathic tendencies, communication skills and critical thinking skills (p> 0.05). We think that this study is a preliminary study on empathic tendencies, communication skills, and critical thinking skills of physiotherapy students. Parameters such as gender, different years of education, and welfare levels can affect empathic tendency, communication skills, and critical thinking skills. There are limited studies in the literature investigating the effectiveness of creative drama in the field of health. Therefore, this work can give an idea for subsequent studies. The studies that are conducted with more patients and which are multi-centered should be done.
