Today global and national economy is facing numerous hardly predictable events, which N. Talleb called ‘the black swam’ events, i.e. events having serious consequences both for economy in general and for industries in particular. Integrated corporate structures are still being formed at the expense of M&A deals. Statistic and diagnostic of M&A deals in leading companies testify that these deals have a high degree of risk, while classical management in M&A developed in the last 20 years requires drastic changes. Finance community considers acquisition of new businesses as a conventional method of getting different preferences, such as knowledge and skill diffusion in the field of innovation, opportunity of penetrating new markets, possible obtaining the synergy effect, including one within the frames of ‘the so-called ‘mum’s bias’. By studying global and home experience we can clearly observe that the majority of companies-buyers (or companies-aggressors) pursue policy of acquisition in respect of companiestargets, in other words, the company-target is not considered as an object of any investment. It could be investment in capital, in optimization of the system of strategic management in the company-target or in upgrading businessmodel, etc. In this respect the authors study specific features of corporate management within the frames of ShareholderActivism, non-executive directors and agent theory, identify contradictions and show changes in these fields.

The article examines the objectively existing in modern conditions of economic agents' activity the need to introduce and apply approaches based on the use of quality management methods in internal corporate management. The authors noted that one of the global trends of the XXI century. Is the structural transformation of the world economy associated with the active development and implementation of information and telecommunication (digital) technologies in the real economic processes of both society and business. The authors assess the approach widespread in Russia based on quality management methods in the formation of control systems for the activities of economic agents of the national economy in the context of digital transformation in order to ensure their sustainable development; the analysis of the formation of promising directions for the development of communities, declared by UNESCO, in conditions of instability, complexity and uncertainty was carried out; the toolkit for digitalization of quality management of the education system is considered, in particular, the use of project-based learning to improve the quality of knowledge obtained and assess the impact on the sustainable development of universities, the education sector in general and economic agents of the national economy, taking into account digitalization and global risks. The authors see further areas of research in modeling risks and assessing their impact on ensuring sustainable development of economic agents, socio-economic processes of the national economy and society as a whole by quality management methods in the context of digitalization of the economy.

Housing and utilities in modern Russia is at the stage of its development and in particular the management of logistics flows, as a result, the functioning of this sector of the economy is subject to a high degree of risk. In the housing and utilities sector, risks entail not only losses for managers and resource supply companies, but also the likelihood of losses in providing services to the consumer, namely, the low quality of produced housing and utilities.

Abstract From the perspective of national economy, leasing represents a means of reorientating investments by attracting several new external financial sources in economy and a solution for launching on the market the products that have a limited demand and a low level of purchasing. Leasing represents an important factor in developing and making foreign trade more efficient through the possibility of entering on new markets and of opening new partnerships. Also, leasing attracts important financial resources since it has principal factors such as efficiency and safety.

Abstract Incidents with IEDs containing metallic elements in the vicinity of the explosive substance pose a high degree of risk, endangering safety, peace and public order. In such situations, the methods and procedures applied as response by the authorities are cumbersome and risky, given the improvised nature of these incidents. In this paper we intend to analyze the destructive effect of explosive substances on certain metallic materials and we focus on a U-shaped metallic structure.

World leaders gathered at the United Nations (UN) and adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It is a plan of action aimed at achieving global sustainable development in economic, social and environmental areas, which ensures that no UN member state is left behind. The 17 sustainable development goals on the 2030 Agenda can be used as benchmarks for the coordinated development of UN member states. Aviation safety is an important component of the concept of general national security, the system of personal security, ecological and public safety and transport safety from external and internal threats. Maintaining an acceptable level of national aviation safety is a priority for the industry. The aviation transport is a part of the transport complex of Ukraine, which is an important component in the structure of the national economy and a link between all components of economic security to ensure the basic conditions of life and development of the state and society. The assessment of economic, technological, safety, social and ecological hazards is an integral part of all the logical blocks of the structural and functional scheme of strategic management of aviation safety in terms of sustainable development of the national economy. According to the concept of national aviation risk management developed by the authors, risk can be assessed as a mutual combination of hazarad, vulnerability and consequences. The application of this concept in relation to the air transport of Ukraine allowed to identify the main hazards, vulnerabilities, consequences and risks. The next step in the implementation of the concept is to develop institutional measures to neutralize threats in the field of aviation safety, which is actually a set of risk reduction measures for further sustainable development of the national economy. This article summarizes the hazards, vulnerabilities, consequences, risks, and institutional arrangements for strategic aviation safety management. Among the priority measures are: harmonization of national regulation of air transport with the requirements of global and regional levels, development of mechanisms for commercial protection of domestic air transport enterprises in the COVID-19 pandemic, implementation of strategic scenarios for sustainable development of air transport in Ukraine until 2030. The implementation of the proposed institutional measures will ensure an appropriate level of safety, efficiency and regularity of the national air transport of Ukraine.

Proteins with a high degree of sequence similarity representing different structures provide a key to understand how protein sequence codes for 3D structure. An analysis using the fuzzy oil drop model was carried out on two pairs of proteins with different secondary structures and with high sequence identities. It has been shown that distributions of hydrophobicity for these proteins are approximated well using single 3D Gaussian function. In other words, the similar sequences fold into different 3D structures, however, alternative structures also have symmetric and monocentric hydrophobic cores. It should be noted that a significant change in the helical to beta-structured form in the N-terminal section takes places in the fragment much preceding the location of the mutated regions. It can be concluded that the final structure is the result of a complicated synergy effect in which the whole chain participates simultaneously.

This article evaluates the performance of expected value and expected value-variance criteria in achieving risk efficiency in crop selection. Results indicate that the expected returns criterion achieves risk efficiency in many situations because of constraints. However, in the absence of many constraints the expected returns criterion performs poorly except when highly mean-dominant activities are present. The expected value-variance criterion achieves a high degree of risk efficiency for all situations examined. This result implies that criteria more complex than expected value-variance are not necessary for crop selection analysis, given empirical returns distributions.

This chapter pursues a normative approach to corporate governance, bridging economic theory on the nature of the firm and corporate management strategy. It intends to show that from a welfare economics perspective there is room for improvement if governments are willing to revisit the legal framework and redesign the institutional boundaries of the firm. In concrete, echoing concerns being put forward by the World Economic Forum and other international organisations, it is proposed that the social accountability of the modern corporation and its institutional boundaries should be revisited on legal grounds. A new role for top management is advanced in the context of principal-agent theory.
