Kolaviron is a biflavanoid and major phytochemical found in Garcinia kola that includes Garcinia Biflavanoid-1 (GB-1), kolaflavanone, and Garcinia Biflavanoid-2 (GB-2). It is obtained as a fraction extracted from Garcinia kola. Kolaviron's pharmacological properties include anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmodic, ameliorative, anti-asthmatic, anti-cancer, anti-malarial, hepatoprotective, antioxidant, anti-atherogenic, neuroprotective, anti-diabetic, and anti-amnesic properties. Kolaviron is recommended for use in clinical settings because it has been shown to have a high therapeutic efficacy in clinical trials. Honey has been conventionally consumed as food. However, its therapeutic properties have also gained much attention due to its application as a traditional medicine. Therapeutic properties of honey such as anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer and wound healing have been widely reported. A number of interesting studies have reported the potential use of honey in the management of allergic diseases. Allergic diseases including anaphylaxis, asthma and atopic dermatitis (AD) are threatening around 20% of the world population. Although allergic reactions are somehow controllable with different drugs such as antihistamines, corticosteroids and mast cell stabilizers, modern dietary changes linked with allergic diseases have prompted studies to assess the preventive and therapeutic merits of dietary nutrients including honey. Many scientific evidences have shown that honey is able to relieve the pathological status and regulate the recruitment of inflammatory cells in cellular and animal models of allergic diseases. Clinically, a few studies demonstrated alleviation of allergic symptoms in patients after application or consumption of honey. Therefore, the objective of this mini review is to discuss the effectiveness of honey as a treatment or preventive approach for various allergic diseases. This mini review will provide insights into the potential use of honey in the management of allergic diseases in clinical settings.

Objectives: Nowadays, bioactive substances isolated from marine organisms which are abundant and varied in Vietnamese sea attracted more and more the attention of scientists in the world and Vietnam as well. We have studied on soft coral Sinularia cruciata – Alcyoniidae, which has never been studied in Vietnam before, to find substances which are useful in medical field, especially in anti-cancer therapy. Materials and method: Specimens of soft coral Sinularia cruciata were collected from Con Co, Quang Tri province in May 2011. Pure compounds were isolated by using Thin Layer Chromatography; Column Chromatography normal phase and inverse phase; Shephadex LH 20. Structures of them were determined by spectral data of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry (ESI-MS). Results & Conclusion: Structures of 4 compounds were identified: (1) 5.8-epidioxycholest-6-en-3-ol (2) Cholesterol (3) 1-O-hexadecyl-glycerol (Chimyl alcohol) (4) Glycerol 1-O-octadecyl ether (Batyl alcohol). The substance (1) was demonstrated to have strong anti-cancer effects in previous study. Key words Sinularia cruciata, Alcyoniidae, 5,8-epidioxycholest-6-en-3-ol, soft coral, cancer.

The popularity of meat from animals of native breeds is growing all over the world, due to consumer belief regarding its higher quality compared to meat from industrial farm animals. In addition, the living conditions (welfare) are of great importance for consumers. We observed the effect of different ways of keeping and feeding pigs of the same conservative breed on the quality of meat and its health benefits. The aim of the study was to compare the meat quality from pigs of the native Złotnicka Spotted breed, fattened intensively or extensively (with conventional farm-produced compound feed and acorns). The meat from free-range pigs extensively fed on silage and small amounts of acorns was characterized by a higher content of fat, which acts as a carrier for flavor and juiciness, as well as higher monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA) content (p ≤ 0.05) and lower atherogenic, thrombogenic, and peroxidability indices (p ≤ 0.05). It may be stated that the meat quality of the native pig breed is significantly dependent on the housing and feeding method. A more beneficial effect on the quality of meat and its dietetic value, as well as its susceptibility to rancidity, can be obtained throughextensive pig feeding with roughage and the addition of acorns.

On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) released a statement characterizing COVID-19 as a pandemic that has, as of October 2020, caused almost 36 million confirmed global cases and over 1 million deaths. One of the long-term complications suggested by researchers is fibrosis. It has been hypothesized that the combination of ongoing pulmonary injury caused by COVID-19 and the inability to promptly repair damage results in interstitial matrix widening and eventual compression and destruction of alveoli and capillaries. Here we focus on pathogenesis, risk factors, different infectious causes of fibrosis along with COVID-19, and potential treatment options that might reduce its effects. Key words: COVID-19, pulmonary fibrosis, mechanism, treatment

Is dance movement therapy (DMT) a viable treatment modality in health care? It is well established as a form of complementary medicine. More recently, oncology, neurology, and geriatrics—especially dementia treatment— have adopted DMT, and this chapter reviews these applications in preventive, curative, rehabilitative, and promotional healthcare. The current state of relevant research is summarized, and practical vignettes illustrate treatment options in various healthcare settings with a wide range of populations. Opportunities for assessment, treatment documentation, and evaluation are highlighted. The chapter’s summary addresses DMT’s contribution to healthcare in promoting wellbeing.
