Luís Fernando is a contemporary Angolan author who writes both literary and journalistic work. In both he dedicates particular attention to the relationship established between individuals and their place of resi-dence, their customs and traditions. The goal of this article is to study the way in which literary and jour-nalistic text entangles the tension and cooperation that link these two constructors of human geography, ascertaining if there are substantial differences between the representations of those connections in the two types of writing. Using qualitative methodology, content analysis, it is possible to determine that there are no major differences. The author in fact resorts to common themes and brings forth similar topics in both types of texts.

Este estudio presenta los resultados de un curso acerca de las relaciones e implicación entre el desarrollo personal, la profesión docente, la educación y el autoconocimiento mediante prácticas de autobservación. Se centra en el análisis de una actividad educativa consistente en la observación sostenida desde la atención hacia la interioridad personal de los propios participantes, todos profesionales docentes. Se constata que dicha acción proporciona una nueva mirada o comprensión del “sí mismo” y de la relación educadora con el alumnado. Así mismo, se muestra como se alcanzan las finalidades del curso, consistentes en producir reflexión entre los participantes sobre la Educación y su finalidad, así como, poner en valor la necesidad del trabajo interior sobre de la emocionalidad propia de los/as educadores/as y de como su autoconocimiento produce indirectamente mejoras educativas en el alumnado. El estudio se ha realizado sobre una población de 37 participantes. Se ha usado una metodología cualitativa de carácter inductivo a partir de un instrumento, cuestionario, construido “ad hoc” y aplicado según modelo pretest-post test. Para el análisis de datos se utilizó el programa ATLAS.ti.  del que se desprenden resultados significativos centrados en el efecto de desarrollo personal que constatan los educadores y educadoras mediante la práctica de la auto observación y como esta predispone a una consideración en cuanto objetivo educacional, el desarrollo de prácticas de autoconocimiento del mundo emocional de su alumnado. Finalmente, se presentan los resultados más relevantes sobre conocimiento del “Si mismo” que mayor impacto han tenido en el desarrollo del sujeto profesional docente. Personal development is a sensitive matter for those who practice a profession interacting with people. Teaching allows, perhaps more than any other field, to be aware of the relationship between one's performance and its effects on students. Therefore, the interest in knowing its different factors and aspects is sustained over the years.This study proposes to learn about the perception of primary andsecondary education teachers about the relationship between self-knowledge, through self-observation practices, with personal development and, in turn, the incidence of the latter in professional improvement.The study is based on the content analysis of the thoughts manifested by the participants of a training-educational activity. This activity consisted of sustained observation from attention to personal interiority from all teaching professionals. The population of the study consists of 37 participants. An inductive qualitative methodology is used with an instrument, questionnaire, constructed “ad hoc” and it’s applied according to the pretest-posttest model.The data analysis was performed using the ATLAS Ti program. After the analysis, the following significant results emerged:71% of the teachers expressed interest in strengthening self-observation as a way of self-knowledge and as a goal for personal development and improvement of professional practice.It is found this action provides a new understanding of the "self" and the educational relationship teachers have with students.

The article deals with the question of methods for describing lexical semantics. Special attention is paid to symbols — linguistic signs expressing the worldview of culture. The relevance of the study is due to the need to develop an objective description methodology that meets both modern concepts of the semantics of a word and the nature of a symbol. A review of modern concepts of the word meaning is carried out. The question is raised about the possibility of describing the semantics of a symbol based on the analysis of the contextual environment of a linguistic sign. Attention is paid to cases of direct, figurative, symbolic and regular arbitrary use of the word. The author’s development of a methodology for qualitative and quantitative content analysis of a representative sample of texts in describing the semantics of a symbol is presented. The classification of the levels of analysis of the composition of words that form the context of the use of the symbol is proposed. The author dwells on the stages and procedures for extracting the semantics of a symbol from the context in which it is used. The results of a comparative analysis of the semantics of the WAY and ROAD symbols in the language of Russian rock poetry are presented. It is proved that the presented methodology allows describing the semantics of a symbol, relying not on the abstract logic of the relationship of concepts, but on the semantic relations fixed in the text. The novelty of the research is seen in the fact that this technique allows us to consider a symbol not as an occasional, but as a linguistic unit, regularly reproduced by the carriers of the corresponding representations.

The events sector moves around 6,900 million euros a year, and provides jobs for thousands of professionals. The digitization of our era has transformed the way we communicate and, therefore, the way events are organized, presented and disseminated. On the other hand, the transformations that the communication sector has undergone in recent years highlight the training needs that the labor market demands. The digitization of content, the change in the brand-consumer relationship or the organization of events are sectors that are especially in need of new professional profiles. Events as unique spaces that offer added value transformed by the digital presence in social media, the contribution of influencers, the use of apps, the use of streaming or gamification, are some of the tools that need this update in training. The management of good digital communication in events allows, among other things, to identify experts and prescribers, create a community around the event, broadcast live activities, virtual networking, create an online debate before, during and after the event, etc. Therefore, future event organizers should have a multidisciplinary training and with very defined skills such as knowledge of new 2.0 technologies, versatility and adaptability, as well as creative and strategic capacity. In fact, not all actions communicate by themselves, they must be accompanied by quality actions and commitments. The need for new professional profiles in the different areas of communication is a reality pointed out and studied both from the institutional and academic spheres. The objective of the work presented here is to carry out a descriptive exploratory study of the degrees currently offered by these studies in Spanish universities, to check whether they respond to the training needs demanded by the sector at present. The methodological approach used to address the study presented is qualitative-quantitative, specifically using content analysis as an ideal technique in social science studies related to communication. A mixed quantitative-qualitative methodology and a content analysis are carried out as a study technique of the analyzed sample: all postgraduate and undergraduate degrees related to the Organization of Events published in RUCT (Registry of Universities, Centers and Titles). In the first term, the more formal aspects of the sample degrees are analyzed, both in master's degrees and in degrees, to establish their basic characteristics in analysis files that collected the following qualitative variables: name of the university, type of degree. Second, a content analysis of the study plans of the selected postgraduates is carried out, using the information hosted on the web pages of each university as a source of access. Among other conclusive results, the research reflects the timid bet that the Spanish university makes for training in a sector that moves a large number and jobs in Spain. Especially in the public university, since only one university offers a postgraduate degree in this area, compared to the six offered by the private university. Likewise, it is found that professional careers change according to work scenarios, and a certain lack of incorporation of emerging profiles into the evolution of the sector is observed, so a more precise interrelation between profile-task / function-specialization should be established.

International organizations have based their sustainability reports on the global reporting initiative framework. This creates value, and its impact is a tool to improve sustainable management oriented to global needs. In the majority of articles considered in the 2014-2018 period, the relationship between the sustainability reports of international organizations was analyzed with the way in which management should align the reports and sustainable practices with global needs. The general methodological framework consisted of analyzing the GRI-based sustainability reports, the levels of application according to global needs, and whether they contribute to the generation of value for sustainable management. The study focused on a content analysis, the dimensions applied, and the global needs considered, with the legality and formality criteria of the participating organizations. The most important results reflect that there is a correlation between reports and sustainable practices that are managed according to global needs, and external guarantees are sought.

This paper initiates a new area of cultural geography – the geographies of puppets and puppetry – and makes both empirical and conceptual contributions by presenting an initial analysis of puppets in popular culture. The paper begins by highlighting the paucity of disciplinary interest in puppets and the productive potential of puppets and puppetry for a range of sub-disciplines within human geography. A content analysis of 50 films, television programmes and fictional texts is presented, through which a dimensional model of puppets in popular culture is developed to stimulate further work in this area. Utilitarian (role and extent), relational (individual and social) and qualitative (puppetness and ontology) dimensions describe the many and varied ways in which puppets are used in popular culture. The diverse spaces that are created in such works through the interrogation of the human-puppet relationship are explored, with more extreme interpretations of puppetness generating the most peculiar – unique and strange – geographies. Subsequently, the cultural analysis is related to conceptual developments from geographical work on comics and cartoons to advance a conceptual contribution. Integrating and inverting notions of borderscape and topological gulf accommodates the simultaneous maintenance and elimination of human-puppet distinctiveness found to be essential to the peculiar geographies of puppetry.

This paper discusses various different methods and tools of scientometrics, the way in which these can be used in translation and interpreting (T/I) studies and how T/I studies might benefit from such an approach. The authors outline both the potentials and pitfalls of such studies and discuss a number of different subjects of scientometric analysis. The paper also provides examples of scientometric research based on a small corpus of scientometric studies pertaining to T/I studies and pinpoints topics and subjects of research. The authors also explore, in a critical manner, the use (and abuse) of scientometric methods and the relationship between T/I studies and scientometrics. Special attention is paid to the way in which such methods can be combined with other (related) methods of social studies of science such as content analysis or network analysis.

This study examined the interpersonal athletic relationship of four married coach-athlete dyads. In order to facilitate the examination of this unique relationship, the interpersonal constructs of closeness, co-orientation, and complementarity were integrated into a conceptual-based model. The main purpose of this study was to establish the utility of the constructs in understanding the coach-athlete relationship in married couples. Following in-depth interviews, the responses of the participants were content analyzed. Analysis revealed that the coaches and athletes’ close relationship facilitated the formulation of a cooriented view of relevant and important issues which subsequently affected the way in which cooperative interactions were expressed in training. The relationship-oriented aspects of this unique dyad are discussed in relation to a proposed conceptualization of the coach-athlete relationship, and future directions are presented.

When researching the catalogues about Malay manuscripts at the library of Leiden University, Netherlands, there was a list of records about Turkey and Malaya’s relations in various manuscript collections in the library. This is important to be highlight to see how far the two empires’ relationship are in Malay manuscripts. Thus, this writing will analyze the Turkish Empire’s influence towards the Malay government in various aspects. The analyze will using the selected Malay manuscripts through the Leiden University Library collection. Qualitative content analysis methods will use to examine the topics. The expectation of writing shows that there are significant influences towards the Malay government, especially about lineage and politics. This writing will directly contribute to the studies on international relations between the Turkish Empire and Malay government and highlight the way the government practiced by the Islamic government in maintaining the relationship as stated in the Malay manuscript.

The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between live bands and the music they play and aggression in barrooms catering to young, college-aged patrons. Twenty musicians representing 14 different cover bands playing in licensed drinking establishments throughout Northeast Pennsylvania were interviewed about their influence on the behaviors of bar patrons. Content analysis of completed interviews revealed several important findings. Most notably, each of the musicians interviewed in this study reported being able to control and manipulate patron behavior, not just through the music they play, but also through their stage presence, their physical appearance and attire, and the way they interact with patrons while on and away from the stage. While none of the musicians reported ever deliberately trying to push bar patrons towards aggression, most agreed that they had the power to do so if desired. Conversely, musicians identified themselves as potentially important agents of social control within bars. Implications for future research and policy are discussed.

Abstract. TV news are essentially cultural phenomena. Previous research suggests that the often-overlooked formal and implicit characteristics of newscasts may be systematically related to culture-specific characteristics. Investigating these characteristics by means of a frame-by-frame content analysis is identified as a particularly promising methodological approach. To examine the relationship between culture and selected formal characteristics of newscasts, we present an explorative study that compares material from the USA, the Arab world, and Germany. Results indicate that there are many significant differences, some of which are in line with expectations derived from cultural specifics. Specifically, we argue that the number of persons presented as well as the context in which they are presented can be interpreted as indicators of Individualism/Collectivism. The conclusions underline the validity of the chosen methodological approach, but also demonstrate the need for more comprehensive and theory-driven category schemes.
