Personal development is a sensitive matter for those who practice a profession interacting with people. Teaching allows, perhaps more than any other field, to be aware of the relationship between one's performance and its effects on students. Therefore, the interest in knowing its different factors and aspects is sustained over the years. This study proposes to learn about the perception of primary andsecondary education teachers about the relationship between self-knowledge, through self-observation practices, with personal development and, in turn, the incidence of the latter in professional improvement. The study is based on the content analysis of the thoughts manifested by the participants of a training-educational activity. This activity consisted of sustained observation from attention to personal interiority from all teaching professionals. The population of the study consists of 37 participants. An inductive qualitative methodology is used with an instrument, questionnaire, constructed “ad hoc” and it’s applied according to the pretest-posttest model. The data analysis was performed using the ATLAS Ti program. After the analysis, the following significant results emerged:71% of the teachers expressed interest in strengthening self-observation as a way of self-knowledge and as a goal for personal development and improvement of professional practice. It is found this action provides a new understanding of the "self" and the educational relationship teachers have with students.

The purpose of this article is to examine the role of moral feelings—guilt and shame —in the emergence and aftermath of intimate violence, and the way in which these emotions affect the self and behaviors of those involved. This is a phenomenological study using content analysis of in-depth interviews with 20 male batterers and their female partners. The findings indicate that the extent of authenticity and assumption of responsibility concerning moral feelings will determine whether these will or will not lead to intimate violence. Thus it becomes possible to trace five alternative paths of the relationship between moral feelings and intimate violence. Implications for theorizing and future research about the role of moral feelings in intimate violence are suggested.

Luís Fernando is a contemporary Angolan author who writes both literary and journalistic work. In both he dedicates particular attention to the relationship established between individuals and their place of resi-dence, their customs and traditions. The goal of this article is to study the way in which literary and jour-nalistic text entangles the tension and cooperation that link these two constructors of human geography, ascertaining if there are substantial differences between the representations of those connections in the two types of writing. Using qualitative methodology, content analysis, it is possible to determine that there are no major differences. The author in fact resorts to common themes and brings forth similar topics in both types of texts.

This paper is a close reading of Raja Alem’s 2005 novel, Fatma: A Novel of Arabia. I argue that Alem depicts the erotic in ways similar to Audre Lorde’s definition – as a doorway to self-fulfillment and in honor of the “fullness” of the erotic’s depth of feelings. The Saudi Arabian writer employs the fantastic, which has been used by writers to express feminist politics, to give textual embodiment to the relationship between the erotic, self-actualization, and women’s empowerment, central to which is self-knowledge and self-discovery. Alem suggests that a deeper knowledge of the self can open women to unlimited possibilities of being and perception, including a closer relationship to the natural and the supernatural worlds. Alem thus presents a female mythology that creates an alternate reality and undermines the binaries of patriarchal thinking, such as the corporeal/transcendent, the human/nonhuman, man/woman, and nature/culture.

Within the emerging leaderships there is no doubt that distributed leadership (DL) is a relevant concept for culture of the educational sector. DL is understood as a form of shared leadership that is based on a more collective and inclusive philosophy of traditional leadership theory that focuses on the skills, traits and behaviours of the leading individuals. The objective of this communication is to determine the DL profiles of the directors of some primary schools in Madrid. Method. Descriptive study through analysis of multiple correspondences and SPAD, with the questionnaire validated ad hoc practices of distributed leadership. The exhibition comprises a total of 23 schools (16 Public schools and 7 colleges) and 13 principals and 10 directors. In the community of Madrid Capital, Spain. Results. The profiles of the leaders found are eight, product of factors 1 and 2 (formal leader, innovator, Bureaucrat, organizational poietic) and factors 2 and 3 (instructional, training, empowerment, collaborative). Students enrolled in Social Psychology kept application journals, in which they applied course concepts to their daily social experiences. A content analysis of the entries revealed evidence of the acquisition of 12 possible farms of self-knowledge, defined by applying each of 4 cognitive operations (labeling, explaining, educing consequences, and self-assessing) to each of 3 different aspects of the self (thoughts, feelings, and actions). This analysis provides instructors with a framework for assessing various dimensions of an important component of student psychosocial development: understanding the self.

The main aim of this article is to present a descriptive social-cognitive model of the adaptive self-concept (ASC) which integrates knowledge concerning the relationship between two aspects of the self—self-awareness and self-knowledge—and optimal functioning. We propose that adaptive self-awareness is moderately frequent, non-ruminative, focused on inner states, and motivated by curiosity. Adaptive self-knowledge is defined as accurate, complex, integrated and consisting of easily accessible self-beliefs, both abstract and concrete. The broader context for the ASC model is discussed, including its regulatory and interpersonal functions and factors which influence ASC development. The limitations of the model are discussed and suggestions are made for future investigations.

Leprosy is an infectious disease that causes very complex problems. The problem that is needed is not only from a medical point of view but also extends to social, economic problems for sufferers, thus allowing a change in the self-esteem of lepers. In this study, researchers used a Pre-trial research design (One-group Pre-test-post test Design). Taking respondents in this study used a consecutive sample technique in which the sample was patients in Sumber Glagah Leprosy Hospital, Pacet District, Mojokerto Regency, which corresponded to the inclusion and exclusion criteria of 30 respondents. The results showed that respondents' self-esteem before counseling was mostly moderate for 26 respondents (86.7%), the self-esteem of respondents after counseling was mostly 20 respondents (66.7%). To analyze the differences in influence on increasing self-esteem, a T test was conducted using SPSS, obtained α = 0,000, where α <0.05, which means H1 was accepted or there was an increase in self-esteem at the Sumber Glagah Pacet Hospital Mojokerto. This involves the counseling factor itself that supports patient knowledge and is an application of the relationship between nurses and patients, so this counseling needs to be supported and programmed to improve patient effectiveness.

OBJECTIVE: to identify the needs of nursing students in the field of relational competencies. METHOD: qualitative study with an exploratory-descriptive nature. The random sample included 62 students in the 2nd year of the nursing undergraduate program of a school located in the central region of Portugal. The inclusion criterion was the nonexistence of clinical teaching. Data were collected through a form designed to assess relational needs; content analysis was used to analyze data. RESULTS: the results indicated that the students' concept of nursing care at this stage of their education is focused on the performance of nursing tasks and techniques instead of on scientific knowledge. Overall, they are aware that greater personal development and better self-knowledge are determinant for their personal and social well-being and for them to become good professionals. CONCLUSION: these results will support the improvement of an intervention program to be developed with these students.
