This research aims to determine a thematic text book's feasibility based on elementary school students' contextual inquiry. The model used in the development is Dick & Carey, which has been simplified by the researcher into nine development stages as follows: (1) identifying objectives, (2) conducting learning analysis, (3) analyzing students and learning context, (4) formulating learning objectives, (5) developing assessment instruments, (6) developing learning strategies, (7) developing and selecting learning materials,( 8) conducting formative evaluations, and (9) product revisions. The product development then goes through a validation test by the material expert, design expert, and user expert by using different expert instruments. The result of the feasibility test has been analyzed descriptively. The result shows that the thematic textbook based on contextual inquiry with the percentage of feasibility from the material expert was 97,6% (valid), from design expert was 78,27% (valid), and from the user was 98,96% (valid). The result shows that the textbook which has been developed was feasible and can be implemented with little revision.

This study investigated the vocabulary learning strategies used by Thai high school students. The aim was to identify the frequency of different techniques used by high school learners studying in various programs. The main objective of this study was to compare the use of vocabulary learning strategies between multiple programs of study and examine the relationship between these different strategies. A total of 491 high school students from multiple academic disciplines participated in this study. A 47-item questionnaire of vocabulary learning strategies was given to the participants. In addition, qualitative data were collected via semi-structured interviews with 21 students to gain further information on their vocabulary learning strategy use. The interview recordings were immediately transcribed verbatim and translated from Thai into English by two experts. The results indicated that the most frequently used strategies were determination strategies, whereas memory strategies were used the least. The findings also showed that the learning context influenced the participants’ use of vocabulary learning strategies. The qualitative results further revealed the variety of vocabulary learning strategies and the degrees of strategy use. In conclusion, this study highlighted that vocabulary learning strategies are interrelated, and the strategies adopted by learners can depend on vocabulary learning conditions.

This study aims to: (1) develop thematic textbooks based on local wisdom of our best friend's environmental theme material for grade V elementary school students, (2) Know the validity, practicality and effectiveness of thematic textbooks based on local wisdom of our best friend's environmental theme material for grade students V elementary school. The development of thematic textbook learning media based on local wisdom uses the Research and Development (R & D) method. The development stages include: (1) Potentials and problems, (2) Data collection, (3) Product design, (4) Design validation, (5) Design revision, (6) Product testing, (7) Product revision (Sugiyono, 2016). The research was conducted with 33 students from class V SDN 2 Sendang Jepara Regency. Initial product development is a process of making media based on needs analysis. Expert testing or validation was carried out by 2 experts, namely media experts and material experts. The data collection method in this research is observation, interview, and questionnaire. The data analysis technique used descriptive analysis and comparison test of two independent groups, namely using the independent t-test. Based on the results of the trial, this thematic teaching material is very valid, very interesting, effective and can be applied in learning. This can be seen from the results of the validation test from three experts which show that the product is good. The results of the effectiveness test showed that the experimental class students had better learning outcomes than the control class. This means that textbooks based on local wisdom of Jepara Regency are developed effectively

The background of this research is an instrument of learning for reading comprehension which in general is still dominated by an instrument in the form of print out which makes the students’ interest to read is reduced. In addition, this instrument is usually done manually or handwritten so that the students’ work must be corrected manually and require some time to get the results. This study aims to develop instruments or measuring devices for reading comprehension in the Primary School in Pekanbaru and find out the feasibility of measuring devices for reading comprehension skills. This product is Macromedia Flash 8 based namely "MaCaMi" which stands forMari Membaca dan Memahami. The research method used was the 4D model with four stages, such as the define stage, the design phase, the develop phase, and the dessiminate stage which is limited to the third stage. The data of this study were obtained from product design expert validation questionnaire, questionnaire validated by linguists, teacher response questionnaire and students response questionnaire. The data were generated quantitatively and analyzed by using the assessment criteria to determine the product quality. The results of this study showed the assessment of product design experts in draft 1 had an average percentage of 69.61% with the appropriate category then had increased in draft 2 to 90.56% with the very feasible category. The results of  the feasibility test by linguists in draft 1 with had average percentage of 95.30% with the very feasible category then increased in draft 2 to 97.20% withn the very feasible category. The results of the teacher's response to the reading comprehension measuring instrument in the Primary School in Pekanbaru developed by researchers obtained an average percentage of 93.50% with a very good category and the results of students' responses to the measuring instrument obtained an average percentage of 89.90% with a category very good. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the product developed by researchers is feasible to be used as a measure of reading comprehension ability of primary school students.

Background: Research shows that people benefit from having an internally defined belief system and identity to guide their decision-making rather than depending exclusively on external authorities to make choices. Less is known about what types of developmental experiences facilitate progression toward self-authorship, which is a way of being where a person depends on their internally defined beliefs to make decisions and direct their future. Purpose: This study examined an experiential education setting and the influence the setting had on high school students’ progression toward self-authorship. Methodology/Approach: We used Pizzolato’s open-ended Experience Survey and semi-structured interviews to examine aspects of self-authorship in high school students attending a semester-long experiential education program. Findings/Conclusions: We found students returning from their semester-long program focused on decisions that had a greater impact on their personally defined, long-term identity rather than immediate decisions. In addition, students showed growth in the three domains of self-authorship—epistemological, interpersonal, and intrapersonal. The results could be attributed to the pedagogical approach of the experiential education program. Implications: Educators who seek to provide experiences that support self-authorship could implement developmentally effective practices situated in an experiential learning context.
