Functional reciprocity of all transport sectors with their infrastructure support is most evident in ports. The port of Split, integrated in Split’s traffic intersection, is a striking example of uniqueness of Split-Dalmatia County as a traffic and economic centre of Central Dalmatia. The development of City’s harbour for passenger traffic and the North Port for cargo traffic has determined already set constellation of relations of maritime, road and rail traffic, and their mutual interference. The road transport and activities with regard to hinterland services generate economic development in which Split is no exception. This estimate is based on changes that can be expected in terms of redistribution of traffic flow in the central and southern Adriatic and the greater role of road transport, with Split having an increasingly important role.

Abstract Indian cities are highly dependent on road transport for freight and passenger traffic movements. The estimated road transport led yearly emission inventory of pollutants for 25 million-plus population cities of India indicates vehicle stock as the critical contributor to air pollution in cities. During 2025 the city of Kolkata will be responsible for the emission of 21 668.24 Gg of CO2 followed by 272.81 Gg of CO, 98.21 Gg of NOX, 16.9 Gg of CH4, 93.39 Gg of SO2, 8.6 Gg of PM, and 38.55 Gg of HC due to its 2.79 million vehicles. The total vehicle stock of 25 leading Indian cities increased by 19 % during 2015–2017, and during the same period, Rajkot and Vadodara had the highest rise of 97 % and 94 % respectively. Out of 25 cities total CO2 (220 560 Gg) and CO (3185 Gg) vehicular emissions during 2017, Delhi was the highest contributor with 22 % and 20 % respectively followed by Bengaluru (12 %, 12 %), and Chennai (9 %, 8 %). The GHG emission per unit area of Kolkata during 2017, due to on-road vehicular emission, was the highest amongst the 25 cities of India. For Kolkata, cars were responsible for 35 % for CO2, 55 % of CO, 75 % of CH4, 27 % of PM, omnibuses for 41 % for NOX emission, taxis for 83 % of SO2, and two-wheelers for 36 % of HC emissions.

In order to improve transport services for the population, it is necessary, based on the accumulated experience and wishes of passengers, to carefully study and analyze information on the quality of transport services. This requires the development of modern methods that will effectively improve the level of transport activities. The main prerequisites will be the development of methodological regulations for the organization of the transport process, which will primarily relate to improving its quality and safety. The article establishes the relationship of factors affecting the efficiency of technical operation of the vehicle, which in turn affects the quality indicators of inter-municipal passenger traffic. Quality scores are considered simple to calculate and easy to use; Quality indicators are formed in such a way that they can be used to judge the activities of carriers in the field of improving the quality of the transport process and, thus, to separate the quality aspects that depend and do not depend on their activities. The article uses indicators developed on the basis of the requirements of quality standards for transport services. Such an approach in the process of managing passenger traffic in intermunicipal traffic can greatly contribute to improving the quality of service to the population by intermunicipal road transport. The analysis made it possible to establish modern features of the functioning of passenger traffic in intermunicipal traffic and outline ways to improve the quality of transportation and the efficiency of passenger road transport, of which, first of all, one can single out: increasing the efficiency of using road transport, reducing transport costs, developing the production and technical base. and maintenance and repair technologies.

The development of the motor transport system is especially important for Ukraine as a transit state. Our country has great potential for transit traffic due to rather extensive network of motor roads and the passage through the country of three European transport corridors. The purpose of our research is to analyse the current level of development of the national motor transport system of Ukraine. According to the index of transportation of passengers by road transport in the direction of international communication, Lviv region has taken the first place among the other regions in 2016, Kyiv has taken the second place, Kharkiv region has taken the third place, and Khmelnytsk region has taken the last place. According to the index of transportation of passengers by road transport in the intercity direction Lviv, Odessa and Kyiv regions are considered the TOP-3 regions. Lugansk region has taken the last place in ranking. We have to emphasize the fact that there are insignificant movements in the direction of intercity communication for the city of Kyiv (24th place in the rating). Thus, in terms of the number of passengers carried by road transport in various directions, the city of Kyiv and the Kyiv oblast occupy the first positions, and Lugansk regionis on the last place. After having analysed the passenger traffic in Ukraine by type of transport, it can be argued that road transport successfully competes with the railway one. Together these two types of transportation of passengers occupy the leading positions. Thus, it is proved that one of the most important strategic directions of the development of the national economy is the use of the transit and transport potential of the country and ensuring the efficient functioning of the Ukrainian motor transport system.

The article analyzes the processes of suburbanization and transformation of the spatial structure of the city of Ulan-Ude. Modern trends in the growth of Western and historical factors of development, due to socio-economic and historical factors of development. In the 1990s-2000s, because of the decline in agriculture and, as a result, the lack of jobs, the rural population began to migrate massively to the Buryat Republic’s capital. However, the prices for houses and apartments in the city center were unbearable for many migrants, so the purchase of land plots and the construction of houses were affordable for many. The estrangement of agricultural lands and their inclusion in residential areas allowed the city of Ulan-Ude and suburban areas to somewhat expand the territory of settlements and create a huge number of GNPP (gardeners non-profit partnership) and DNPP (dacha non-profit partnership). The city and suburban areas were not ready for such a flow and were not able to provide the newly arrived migrants with social, road transport and communal infrastructure. As a result, the city was surrounded by a suburbia almost devoid of any infrastructure. There are some elements of false urbanization or squatter area, which is a type of urbanization in which the urban population rapid growth is not accompanied by a commensurate increase in urban functions. In recent years, the growth rate of suburban settlements has decreased, mainly due to mortgages, which have become more affordable for the population and the growth of multi-storey construction. In addition, the village is slowly depleting the human resources that feed the city and the suburbs. In other words, those who wanted to move to the city have already moved

The article analyzes the city's logistics development strategies and its public transport, especially bus traffic. Statistical analysis of all road transport in the European Union (EU) has been carried out. The most important reasons for the tragic road accidents in Poland have been mixed up. Key elements of active safety and passive safety of buses and road safety were analyzed. Characterized key indicators of road safety in the EU and the probability of bus incidents. The impact on the ecology of the city of road transport was analyzed in terms of the significance of exhaust emissions of various bus designs and emissions of other pollutants.

A methodology has been developed for assessing public transport passenger traffic in the city. A mathematical model based on fuzzy logic is presented. The main criteria for assessing the attractiveness of passenger traffic are: the interval between vehicles, technical condition of the vehicle, route length, time of day. In the mathematical model, all input linguistic variables and output variable, their terms and membership functions are described. A fragment of a fuzzy knowledge base presented in the form of production rules is presented. At the exit, the dispatcher receives an output variable – the degree of confidence in the attractiveness of the route. Based on this assessment, the dispatcher can make a number of necessary changes to improve the functioning of the route. The software is implemented as a web service. This software will be convenient for dispatchers to use for planning public transport routes. Fifteen selected routes were taken for research, which are the most popular in the city. These routes were proposed for evaluation by three controllers. The results obtained from dispatchers were compared with the results of the fuzzy inference implemented in the software. The main advantage of using this software product is the ability to build a dynamic schedule based on the analysis of the dispatcher. This, in turn, will allow passengers to receive a better transportation service within the city

The main problems of transport infrastructure of cities are the problems of interaction of different types of transport, optimization of route flows, technical backwardness, low capacity, low speed of travel on public transport, low comfort for passengers. Currently, this is complicated by the constant growth of population and the number of cars, which invariably results in the need for optimization of an urban logistics system. A comprehensive solution to the problems presented can be the building of a network of transport hubs as a new stage in the implementation of transport reform. The article analyzes the transport infrastructure of Yekaterinburg. Based on the ABC analysis of passenger traffic, a method has been developed to identify the stopping points of the route network, which can later be transformed into transport hubs. The optimal logistics system of Yekaterinburg has been formed, consisting of three transport and logistics hubs: “Bus terminal”, “Railway station”, “Professors’” (Professorskaya).
