Community Service Activities (PKM) of Department of Mechanical Engineering (DTM), Vocational College, Universitas Gadjah Mada 2015 is entitled the development of pneumatic training kit for SMK N I Ngawen, Gunungkidul Regency. The school located in Jono Hamlet, Tancep Village, Ngawen District, Gunungkidul Regency, has a land area of 15,300 m2. There are four competency expertise held in this school, namely: Light Vehicle Technique, Heavy Equipment, Computer and Network Engineering, and Batik Clothing. SMK N I Ngawen and Vocational College (in this case Mechanical Engineering Department as a PKM team directly involved) have established cooperation in the field of heavy equipment education. SMK N I Ngawen actively has planning and effort of developing PLC control technique as a tool of practice to support the competence of machine expertise. After conducting surveys and coordination with the Principal and its staff, the PLC's control engineering development activities are planned to include scheduling, coordination of PLC training for educator staff, procurement of PLC units, the creation of pneumatic training kit simulators and completeness, the administration of activities and technical details . The procurement of PLC control techniques and pneumatic training kits was successfully carried out for 6 (six) months smoothly from April to October 2015. This activity was conducted on campus of DTM SV - UGM and in SMK N I Ngawen. Implementation of this training kit was conducted by PKM team and education staffs of SMK N I Ngawen Gunungkidul. The preparation of pneumatic training kits begins with the purchase and preparation of training components to the preparation of layouts and testing of training kits. The delivery of pneumatic training kits was done after the teaching staffs of SMK N I Ngawen Gunungkidul attended training kit training.

The community service program carried out by the Mechanical Engineering Department, Padang State Polytechnic lecturer is an activity in order to fulfill the Tridarma of Higher Education for the 2018 budget year. The activity was held in the form of SMAW 2F welding improvement training for the youth of Koto Luar, Pauh sub-district, Padang. In this area, there are many high school graduates who have not dared to enter the real workforce because they feel they do not have sufficient skills to join the field workforce. On the other hand, the Koto Luar village is currently developing very fast, because there has been assimilation between migrants and indigenous people. Along with increasing population, of course also followed by the addition of living facilities. To synergize the increase in progress with its human resource capabilities, various knowledge and skills are needed, one of which is the electric welding skills knowledge of SMAW 2F. Its welding training was attended by 21 Koto Luar youths for 4 days at the Mechanical Engineering department workshop. Expected abilities after training, Koto Luar youths are able to properly weld 2F methods according to welding standards, so that later participants are expected to enter the world of welding work. After debriefing the participants can take part in the welding training well, so that they get the SMAW 2F welding certificate signed by the director of the Padang State Polytechnic. The welding enhancement training activity of SMAW 2F received positive support from the chairman of the Community Empowerment Agency (BPM) and village leaders, because this activity had long been wanted by the community. The Koto Luar community hopes that the training to improve SMAW 2F's welding ability for youth in Pauh Padang sub-district can be carried out continuously, because many young people are interested in SMAW's welding knowledge, the goal is to be able to open entrepreneurs and fill jobs around Lambung Bukit, Koto Luar , and Limau Manis Padang.

In recent decades, semi-active control strategies have been investigated for vibration reduction. In general, these techniques provide enhanced control performance when compared to traditional passive techniques and lower energy consumption if compared to active control techniques. In semi-active concepts, vibration attenuation is achieved by modulating inertial, stiffness, or damping properties of a dynamic system. The smart spring is a mechanical device originally employed for the effective modulation of its stiffness through the use of semi-active control strategies. This device has been successfully tested to damp aeroelastic oscillations of fixed and rotary wings. In this paper, the modeling of the smart spring mechanism is presented and two semi-active control algorithms are employed to promote vibration reduction through enhanced damping effects. The first control technique is the smart-spring resetting (SSR), which resembles resetting control techniques developed for vibration reduction of civil structures as well as the piezoelectric synchronized switch damping on short (SSDS) technique. The second control algorithm is referred to as the smart-spring inversion (SSI), which presents some similarities with the synchronized switch damping (SSD) on inductor technique previously presented in the literature of electromechanically coupled systems. The effects of the SSR and SSI control algorithms on the free and forced responses of the smart-spring are investigated in time and frequency domains. An energy flow analysis is also presented in order to explain the enhanced damping behavior when the SSI control algorithm is employed.

In this paper, an improved load sharing control scheme is presented, which is able to improve the transient response and power sharing accuracy of parallel-connected inverters used in microgrid. It also shows how the improved droop method can be easily adapted to account for the operation of parallel-connected inverters, providing good performance under the variation and disturbance of loads, as well as achieving good steady-state objectives and transient performance. Two DSP-based single-phase Microgrid inverters are designed and implemented. Simulation and experimental results are all reported, confirming the validity of the proposed control technique.

Teaching materials are a set of tools or facilities that contain materials, methods and evaluations used by teachers or lecturers in learning. So far, the teaching materials released by several developers have rarely been in accordance with the needs of Mechanical Engineering students, where some of the teaching materials available still use general English. In this study, in order to compile an appropriate teaching material, researchers have conducted a needs analysis. Needs analysis is a fundamental aspect for English language lecturers for specific purposes (ESP) in identifying information or the main needs of students and investigating areas of student shortages. In line with this statement, this research is a case study design that aims to determine the needs of mechanical engineering students in learning English through Padlet at the Faculty of Engineering in the 2019-2020 academic year. The data in this study were collected from researcher observations, questionnaires and semi-structured interviews with 40 students and two English language lecturers in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The results revealed that speaking and writing are the main focus of English skills in the Mechanical Engineering department and listening along with reading are the next English skills needed than others.

This study was aimed at developing and investigating the feasibility of the personal leadership learning model for vocational students in the Mechanical Engineering Expertise Program. The personal leadership learning model used in this study is a learning model adapted from Scouller's personal leadership model. The subjects in this study were students of class X of the Mechanical Engineering Department of 2017/2018 and the teachers, while the object of research was the personal leadership model. Research and development approach was used in this study with the development procedure including data collection and analysis, initial product development, validation, product testing, revision, and final product. The data were gathered by interviews, observations, and survey. The data then were analyzed using qualitative descriptive method. The results of the study produce a personal leadership learning model which is declared by material experts and expert learning models, as a feasible and applicable model. Personal leadership learning model is effective in improving students' activity, especially in asking or giving opinion.PENGEMBANGAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN PERSONAL LEADERSHIP PADA SISWA SEKOLAH MENENGAH KEJURUANPenelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan dan menguji kelayakan model pembelajaran personal leadership untuk siswa SMK Program Keahlian Teknik Pemesinan.
