The community service program carried out by the Mechanical Engineering Department, Padang State Polytechnic lecturer is an activity in order to fulfill the Tridarma of Higher Education for the 2018 budget year. The activity was held in the form of SMAW 2F welding improvement training for the youth of Koto Luar, Pauh sub-district, Padang. In this area, there are many high school graduates who have not dared to enter the real workforce because they feel they do not have sufficient skills to join the field workforce. On the other hand, the Koto Luar village is currently developing very fast, because there has been assimilation between migrants and indigenous people. Along with increasing population, of course also followed by the addition of living facilities. To synergize the increase in progress with its human resource capabilities, various knowledge and skills are needed, one of which is the electric welding skills knowledge of SMAW 2F. Its welding training was attended by 21 Koto Luar youths for 4 days at the Mechanical Engineering department workshop. Expected abilities after training, Koto Luar youths are able to properly weld 2F methods according to welding standards, so that later participants are expected to enter the world of welding work. After debriefing the participants can take part in the welding training well, so that they get the SMAW 2F welding certificate signed by the director of the Padang State Polytechnic. The welding enhancement training activity of SMAW 2F received positive support from the chairman of the Community Empowerment Agency (BPM) and village leaders, because this activity had long been wanted by the community. The Koto Luar community hopes that the training to improve SMAW 2F's welding ability for youth in Pauh Padang sub-district can be carried out continuously, because many young people are interested in SMAW's welding knowledge, the goal is to be able to open entrepreneurs and fill jobs around Lambung Bukit, Koto Luar , and Limau Manis Padang.

Abstrak Sebagai agent of change mahasiswa dituntut tidak hanya memiliki ilmu dan keahlian sesuai dengan bidangnya, tetapi juga siap untuk terjun ke dalam masyarakat mengimplementasikan ilmu dan keterampilan yang mereka milliki, membantu menyelesaikan permasalahan riil yang sedang dihadapi masyarakat atau memberi pengetahuan dan keterampilan kepada masyarakat supaya mereka bisa hidup lebih baik. Untuk memenuhi tuntutan tersebut institut teknologi sepuluh nopember (ITS) menyelenggarakan program kuliah kerja nyata (KKN) kepada mahasiswa. Sesuai dengan wilayah keilmuan mahasiswa yang berbasis pada teknologi dan aplikasinya, maka kegiatan KKN juga bertema teknologi serta aplikasinya sehingga kegiatan-kegiatan KKN di dalam masyarakat juga tidak lepas dari tema teknologi dan aplikasinya. Dengan demikian, KKN ITS menjadi sarana yang tepat untuk membantu masyarakat menghadapi era revolusi industri sekarang ini di mana teknologi dan aplikasinya menjadi inti keberlangsungannya. Kata Kunci: pemberdayaan masyarakat, KKN tematik, penerapan teknologi, revolusi industri Abstract As agents of change, students are required not only to have knowledge and expertise in their fields, but they must also be ready to be in the community to implement the knowledge and skills they have, help solve real problems faced by the community or provide knowledge and skills to the community so they can lead better life. To meet these goals, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November (ITS) conducted community service program (KKN) for students to communities. In line with ITS students’ background, the themes of KKN were related with technology and its applications, so that the KKN activities in the community were also inseparable from the theme of technology and its application. Thus, KKN ITS is the right medium to help the community in facing the current era of the industrial revolution in which technology and its application serve as its core. Salah satu kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang sedang dikembangkan oleh Program Studi Teknik Mesin UNTAG Surabaya adalah redesain dari alat pencacah pakan pada peternakan sapi UD. Mujur, Desa Gayaman Kecamatan Mojoanyar, Kabupaten Mojokerto. Ada tiga permasalahan utama yang ditemukan. Permasalahan pertama adalah mesin pencacah tidak mampu mencacah bahan pakan secara maksimal karena desain alat pencacah yang kurang ergonomis. Sehingga solusinya adalah dengan meredesain alat pencacah, terutama pada komponen pisau pencacah pakan. Permasalahan kedua adalah terdapat beberapa komponen pada mesin yang rusak dan harus diganti, sehingga solusinya dengan mengganti komponen penyaring dan v-belt. Penyaring yang terdahulu terlalu kecil ukurannya sehingga hasil cacahan sulit keluar, membuat terperangkap di dalam mesin. V-belt yang terdahulu sudah terlalu kendor sehingga tidak bisa memutar mesin pencacah dengan maksimal. Permasalahan ketiga yaitu kurangnya pengetahuan dan keterampilan pekerja tentang mesin pencacah pakan. Solusinya, diadakan diskusi dan penyuluhan untuk mengedukasi para pekerja tentang seluk beluk mesin pencacah pakan, mulai dari prinsip kerjanya hingga perawatan mesinnya. Secara umum, kegiatan berjalan dengan lancar, membuat produktivitas peternakan meningkat, terutama pada sektor penyediaan pakan dan manajemen pemberian pakan.One of the community service program that has been developed by department of mechanical engineering UNTAG Surabaya is the redesign of chopper machine for cattle fodder in the farm of UD. Mujur, Gayaman, Mojoanyar, Mojokerto. There were three problems found in the farm. The first one was the chopper machine cannot maximally chop the cattle fodder because of the design of the chopper component. Hence, the solution was to redesign the chopper component and the machine blade. The second problem was there were components that are damaged and should be replaced. The solution was to replace those components; filter and v-belt. The filter before had too small mesh so that the feed ingredient could not come out the machine. The new filter has the bigger mesh so that feed ingredient could come out the machine. The v-belt was replaced because the old one was too saggy so that the machine could not rotate clearly. The last problem was the workers’ knowledge and skills to operate the chopper machine was minimum. We created a group discussion and counseling to educate the workers about the chopper machine; the principle of work and the machine maintenance. Overall, the program succeed. It increased the productivity of the farm, especially in the cow feed and cattle fodder management.

The problems faced by the children of Banjarmasin Al-Ashr Orphanage are almost the same as those faced by other orphanages in the city of Banjarmasin, namely, lack funds and personnel or volunteers who help and guide orphanage children to develop their skills and creativity as a provision in carrying out life after the completion of the orphanage. The purpose of this community service program is to make the children of the Al-Ashr Orphanage have a strong and more independent motivation by providing them with the knowledge and skills they will use to prepare themselves for the future. While the target of this activity is to make the children of the Al-Ashr Orphanage have design skills in making invitations, brochures, and banners as well as online businesses. The method used is training and guidance, where training is carried out with presentations and practices.

The Impact

Formalin and borax are dangerous chemicals that are often misused as food preservatives. Various inspections have been carried out to minimize the use of formalin and borax in food, but there are still many formalin and borax in foods. The community, especially housewives, should have the ability to identify the presence of formalin and borax in food in order to protect family members from the exposure of those chemicals. Housewives in Pamijen Sub-District do not have knowledge and skills to identify formalin and borax content in food yet. Through this community service program, housewives in Pamijen Sub-District are expected to be able to test formalin and borax content in food independently. The program began with counseling about the food characteristics that contains formalin and borax; and the impact on health. This program continued with training on how to identify and practicing on how to detect formalin and borax in some food samples with a simple and an easy method. The results indicate that this program can increase patricipants’ knowledge about formalin and borax; and skills to identify them. Keywords: preservatives, formalin, borax, food

Petuk Katimpun is one of the supplier villages for vegetable needs in the Palangka Raya city and its surroundings. At the abundant harvest, the prices of vegetables dropped sharply and were even worthless. Vegetables are left to rot in the tree, because there are costs to be taken to pick the vegetables. This is certainly very painful for the farmer. The farmers continue to lose money. One solution is to increase the value added of vegetables through processing technology. The technology of processing vegetable chips with vacuum frying is able to maintain the distinctive aroma and color of vegetables, crisper texture, lower vitamin damage and lower oil absorption. The purpose of this community service program is to transfer vacuum frying technology to increase the value added of the vegetables so that the level of the loss of farmers can be reduced. The approach were taken by  counseling, training and coaching and mentoring. The counseling was carried out by direct communication and interactive discussion, while training of using vacuum frying tools with various vegetable raw materials was carried out under the guidance of the service team. The coaching and group assistance were carried out in the acquisition of SPP-IRT as well as ways to access markets both directly and indirectly. The results of the community service program showed that 70% of partners were able to operate vacuum frying equipment. The capabilities of labeling and packaging were 100 % . They also had an ability to access markets indirectly through online media. The direct market could not be accessed due to  the SPP-IRT certificate has not been obtained. Key words : community empowerment, vegetables chip, vacuum frying

The general theme of the 2020 Community Service Program is “Community Empowerment”. Meanwhile, the special theme is "Entrepreneurship". The implementation time starts from August 3 to September 3, 2020, in Onekore Village, Ende Tengah District, Ende Regency. On the program. With this special theme, the main activity carried out is supporting entrepreneurship in Onekore Village. The purpose of implementing this activity is that students are expected to gain learning experience through direct involvement in the community in finding, formulating, solving, and overcoming problems in the field. In this KKN activity, the problems found were the lack of utilization of existing garden products, namely bananas. So far, it is consumed by boiling or eating it without further processing. Olso besides, we also found woven products from weaving that were difficult to market. Students socialize and practice entrepreneurship as an effort to solve problems faced by weaving craftsmen. Efforts made to help the household economy include making flower pots and making wallets made from woven fabrics. Supporting activities during the Community Service Program are assisting with the administration of the Village, community service, building a gate for the Indonesian Independence Day, making sample gardens, socializing COVID-19 and, health service for the elderly.

Cassava is a type of plant that is easy to grow in various types of soil, and its cultivation method is relatively easy. The stems, leaves, and tubers of cassava have various benefits for human life. Limited knowledge and skills regarding the diversification of cassava-based processed products are an obstacle for which solutions must be sought. The purpose of this service activity is to empower the community, especially partners/target groups, through training on processing cassava into raw materials for processed food products. Community service activities carried out using training/mentoring and demonstrations/practices are one of the solutions that can be carried out for community empowerment. The results of community service activities show that all participants (100%) can actively participate in receiving all the knowledge and skills transferred and are interested in doing it themselves at home (100%). Processed products in the form of cassava flour will be consumed by themselves (77%) and sold (23%) with processed food products of cassava lunkhead (89%) and cassava noodles (11%), which were of high interest. This data shows that community service activities carried out by Palangka Raya University can contribute and become a solution to overcome problems faced by the community.

The aim of the Community Service Program, Kuliah Kerja Nyata- Pembelajaran dan Pemberdayaan Kepada Masyarakat (KKN-PPM) is to improve the skills of society in Sindanglaya village, Cinangka. The problem faced does not know the use the waste of plastic to produce the useful and selling value products. The method of implementing this service is through (1) Survey through observation, interviews, and analysis of problems and potential of the village, (2) Training on making paving block from the waste of plastic. The results of this program are increasing knowledge and skills of the community regarding training on making paving block from the waste of plastic. This program is expected to facilitate the community in increasing their knowledge and skills in processing the waste materials into products that are useful and have selling value, therefore that the societies in Sindanglaya become productive communities.

Indonesia has many cultures, almost every region has a different culture and customs. Labuhanbatu Utara is one of the regions in North Sumatra that has 8 districts. In South Kualuh sub-district has a habit to sing nasyid on certain and special events. Nasyid is one of the Islamic arts in the field of sound art. Usually it is a song that has an Islamic style and contains words of advice, stories of the prophets, praising God, and the like. Nasyid is usually sung in a cappella accompanied by only a drum. Community service program in 2019 is real community empowerment with the title Nasyid musyik training for mosque youth in Dusun III Pondok Pasar IV, Damuli Kebun Village, to provide useful knowledge for mosque youth.

The goal to be achieved in this service program is to help compile and make financial statements CV. Kasih dan Sayang. Specific targets to be completed are knowledge and skills in preparing and formatting financial statements. The problem in preparing financial statements is knowledge and skills in the recording of business finances. Therefore, the challenges in this target group need to be overcome by increasing knowledge and training in making financial statements that are easy and helping financial records for partners. The method that will be used in this service program is participation method. CV. Kasih dan Sayang were given financial statement training. The results of this community service activity are trainees who are able to provide training materials that are supported by using financial statements formats in the form of MS. Excel is in accordance with the case of business transactions. In addition, the financial statement format is in the form of an MS. Excel will tidy up and make it easier to make business financial statements.
