The benefits of Maratua Island as tourism attraction should belong to the local community. For this reason, sustainable tourism must be implemented to help community obtain economic benefits and to preserve the natural and cultural resources. This research aims at analysing the implementation of sustainable tourism and proposing recommendations of strategies for sustainable tourism at Maratua Island. This research employs qualitative approach through interviews to the government staff (in tourism board), local community and local leader in Maratua island as well as participant observation in 2017. The research reveals that although the members of community have participated in tourism activity, unsustainable practices by the local community constraint the goal of sustainable tourism. The existence of outsiders (investors) have encouraged the participation of community in tourism. However, the local community should be encouraged to have good job positions rather than as low level worker. This research recommend efforts to achieve sustainable tourism including the importance of socialisation about tourism to community and education and training in creative economy. The government has the role in facilitating such efforts and regulating the investors. Trash boat is considered important in overcoming the issues of environment. In addition, ambassador (duta) of environment and tourism is essential in providing information about tourism and issues on sustainability and sustainable tourism.

Paradoxes of sustainable tourism: implications of environmental and economic dimension on vehicle traffic in the dunes and seafront of Jacumã (RN, Brazil) ABSTRACT This study aimed to verify the environmental impacts of vehicular traffic and vehicles powered by combustion in the Jacumã / RN dunes, as well as to understand the economic benefits derived from the practice of non-profit tours and adventure tours. As a result of creativity, the creative economy product is an intellectual property that needs to be recognized as an intellectual work that has economic value and gets legal protection. This study analyzes the regulations established by the Government in providing protection against intellectual property rights (IPRs) to ekraf products and the application of such regulations in the city of Surakarta, Central Java and Denpasar City, Bali. Through normative and empirical juridical research methods, secondary and primary data are processed and analyzed qualitatively. The result of the research stated that IPRs protection policy toward creative economy product has been done by the government through IPRs legislations and regional policy related to IPRs protection for creative economy product referring to national policy. Preventive protection is provided through law in the form of economic benefits for the actors who register IPRs of creative economy product. However, the level of public awareness and understanding of the importance of IPRs, the communal nature of creative economy actors in Indonesia, and the nature of IPRs that must be registered for legal protection, cause IPRs protection for creative economy perpetrators is not optimal. At the level of implementation, the awareness and understanding of the perpetrators of the property rights become the key to the success of IPRs protection by the government. The lack of regional alignments has an impact on the not yet optimal economic benefits received by creative economy actors. Therefore, the government should intensify the socialization of IPRs and facilitate the registration of IPRs  for the perpetrators of creative economy. Institutional and regulatory support at the local level is also important to develop and protect the creative economy product.

There is a general consensus that tourism activity must have the support of a local community in order to build sustainable tourism development. Among the competitive Romanian tourism products, festival tourism should be mentioned, even though it is relatively new. Therefore, given the traditional communities from rural areas which are confronted with an international flux of tourists, it is vital to analyze the perception of and support for festivals. The presumption is that if there are benefits for the locals, support increases. In order to achieve the objective of the study, research has been conducted among the local rural community of Bontida, which is the location of an international annual music festival. The instrument used was a questionnaire which had four parts that aimed to measure the cultural benefits and costs of the festival and the sense of well-being of the community, given the fact that previous studies focused mainly on the economic and environmental impacts, but not so much on the socio-cultural dimensions. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data. The results indicated that the benefits are greater than the perceived costs, a fact which is encouraging from the perspective of developing a sustainable tourism strategy, both by the local authorities and private stakeholders.

This study explores local community attitudes toward ecotourism as a form of sustainable tourism in the Zasavica Special Nature Reserve in Serbia using the Sustainable Tourism Attitude Scale (SUS-TAS). Residents of the Zasavica Special Nature Reserve acknowledge the sociocultural and economic benefits of ecotourism development while recognizing the negative impacts of development on the natural environment. Low awareness of non-charismatic species among residents contrasts with strong awareness of them among large communities of scientists and naturalists in Serbia. This study shows the importance of local community support for ecotourism and conservation development. Moreover, the study revealed that the SUS-TAS scale can be successfully applied in ecotourism research.
