In order to make this report clear to those without experience in insurance matters, we first present some basic facts about the insurance business. In so doing we intentionally omit certain facts irrelevant to the present study. The most important omission of this kind is our assumption that the insurance business operates without administrative expenses and without sales costs. We also assume that the insurance business is run in such a way that no profit is made. It will be evident to readers already directly connected with insurance problems what further omissions we have made and why we have made them.Insurance is the establishment of a contract between the insurance company and the insured person This contract is by tradition called the “insurance policy” and the insured person is called the “policyholder”. By agreeing to the insurance policy, the policyholder commits himself to paying certain premiums to the insurance company, and the insurance company commits itself to paying certain amounts to the policyholders. The conditions under which such payments are to be made are of many different kinds: the policy-holder dies, the policyholder becomes ill, a homeowner's house is burnt down, or the policyholder has a collision in his car. The circumstances under which a payment is to be made to the policy-holder are described in detail in the insurance policy. The amount to be paid is either fixed or variable: in life insurance the amount to be paid is always fixed and stated in the insurance policy, but in most other forms of insurance the intention is that the insurance compensate the policyholder for the losses he might incur as a consequence of the events covered by his policy.

Highlights Digital data collection and management system is developed for the USDA-AMS’s shell-egg grading program. Database system consisting of OLTP, data warehouse and OLAP databases enables online data entry and trend reporting. Data and information management is done through web application servers. Users access the databases via web browsers. Abstract . This paper is concerned with development of web-based online data entry and reporting system, capable of centralized data storage and analytics of egg grading records produced by USDA egg graders. The USDA egg grading records are currently managed in paper form. While there is useful information for data-driven knowledge discovery and decision making, the paper-based egg grading record system has fundamental limitations in effective and timely management of such information. Thus, there has been a demand to electronically and digitally store and manage the egg grading records in a database for data analytics and mining, such that the quality trends of eggs observed at various levels (e.g., nation or state) are readily available to decision makers. In this study, we report the design and implementation of a web-based online data entry and reporting information system (called USDA Egg Grading Information Management System, EGIMS), based on a data warehouse framework. The developed information system consisted of web applications for data entry and reporting, and internal databases for data storage, aggregation, and query processing. The internal databases consisted of online transaction processing (OLTP) database for data entry and retrieval, data warehouse (DW) for centralized data storage and online analytical processing (OLAP) database for multidimensional analytical queries. Thus, the key design goal of the system was to build a system platform that could provide the web-based data entry and reporting capabilities while rapidly updating the OLTP, DW and OLAP databases. The developed system was evaluated by a simulation study with statistically-modeled egg grading records of one hypothetical year. The study found that the EGIMS could handle approximately up to 600 concurrent users, 32 data entries per second and 164 report requests per second, on average. The study demonstrated the feasibility of an enterprise-level data warehouse system for the USDA and a potential to provide data analytics and data mining capabilities such that the queries about historical and current trends can be reported. Once fully implemented and tested in the field, the EGIMS is expected to provide a solution to modernize the egg grading practice of the USDA and produce the useful information for timely decisions and new knowledge discovery. Abstract With the rapid development and wide application of computer technology and network technology, the Internet has become an important information infrastructure in modern society. However, the resource capacity used by the Internet is much smaller than the actual resource capacity. How to choose the right resources to serve the people has become a crucial issue. Huge data resources, heterogeneous distribution and unreasonable resource organization are important reasons for this phenomenon. When solving the problems of batch data, heterogeneous distribution, complex processing, and cumbersome use in a distributed heterogeneous network environment, the traditional methods of resource processing and resource aggregation services become more and more difficult. In recent years, how to redistribute and organize scattered resources in a dynamic and open environment, how to effectively gather different resources, realize resource sharing and full utilization, and provide users with reasonable and convenient resource collection services have become one of the main research points. This paper mainly uses the questionnaire survey method to study the water resources information management system based on the Agent model. First, it summarizes the characteristics of the Agent model and the problems existing in the water resource information management system based on the Agent model through the literature research method, and then uses the questionnaire survey method, investigate some evaluations and suggestions about the need to use the water resources system. The results of the survey show that in the evaluation of the use of the water resources information management system based on the Agent model, about 50% of people encounter the waiting time for the system. For long-term phenomena, about 30% of them are stuck. The recommendations for the use of water resources information management systems based on the Agent model are more concerned about the simple operation of the system, with about 54% of the choices, and about 36% of the people choosing when there is no lag.

The Alumni Info-Com Management System is able to manage alumni data of a college and provide easy access to the same. Alumni of college stay in touch with their immediate friends and it is hard to stay connected with college mates. Contact between alumni develops business connections and to gain insight in a new field. Current students will be initially given a student login id. Access to the system can help them to seek help in their projects or for placements. This single system can satisfy almost every requirement of the alumni. Usually, alumni associations are organized in colleges, but may also be organized in a place where the alumni can meet each other. Despite the fact that there are many existing systems in colleges to maintain the alumni information, they are manual and more time consuming to current students to reach out their alumni and maintaining the privacy of the alumni. To overcome these issues, we proposed a web application which allows alumni to update their information and students can connect with them and can view the filtered events posted by alumni and admin through support vector machine algorithm.

Life insurance policy is a contract between the policy holder (assured) and the insurer (insurance company), where the insurer promises to pay a designated beneficiary a sum of money (a “premium”) upon the death of the insured person. In return, the policy holder agrees to pay a stipulated amount (at regular intervals or in lump sums). In nutshell, life policies are legal contracts and the terms of the contract describe the limitations of the insured events. Specific exclusions are often written into the contract to limit the liability of the insurer; common examples are claims relating to suicide, fraud, war, riot and civil commotion. Suicide means a wilful and intentional act on the part of the self-destroyer. It includes every act of self-destruction. Policies of life insurance contain conditions by which the liability of the insurer is modified and limited in case of suicide by the assured. Where there is such a clause in a policy, the insurer can avoid the policy. The position in England and in India is different on this issue. In England suicide is a crime and hence no money is payable if a person commits suicide while in a sane state of mind. On the other hand if the assured was insane at the time of committing suicide, the sum due can be recovered by his legal representatives. Under the Indian law, suicide in itself is not an offence, and as such a policy cannot be avoided on the ground of suicide, unless the policy otherwise provides. Suicide will, however, not affect the rights of assignee, if the policy holder had assigned the policy for valuable consideration. The burden of proving suicide is upon the insurers and where the cause of death is not known, the presumption is against suicide and the policy cannot be avoided. This same is followed in India. According to this approach, the claim would be barred on a contractual level because the assured cannot be the author of his own loss, and on a broader level, because the law will not allow him to benefit from his own criminal acts. This paper examines the development of law and policy in relation to claims on life insurance policy where the assured or insured has committed suicide after the commencement of the policy and the effect of suicide clause in life insurance contract. Is that the present practice of insurance companies to insert suicide clause in life policies, indirectly promotes commercial suicide in cases of intentional suicides.

Computer-based information management systems have allowed many companies and facilities to greatly improve their data storage and processing capabilities over traditional paper and file methods. The Internet and its associated web-based technologies have further contributed to information processing capabilities. The Federal Transit Administration’s Bus Testing Program, operated by the Pennsylvania Transportation Institute at the Pennsylvania State University requires an upgrade to such a system. Currently, all bus test data is entered directly into a hardcopy report, and data analysis must be performed manually. The objective in this research is to develop an information management system for the bus test data to facilitate access to the data, enable search queries, and perform statistical analyses to examine current trends or predict performance characteristics of future buses. A database has been created in Microsoft Access and linked to a user-friendly graphical user interface developed in Visual Basic for fast and nearly error-free data entry. A web-based infrastructure comprised of HTML, XML, ASP, and customized COM objects is used to display, search, and analyze the bus test data. The resulting information system saves time and money for PTI while enabling easy access to bus test reports.

In recent years, the enrollment scale of graduate students has been increasing, and tutor resources are relatively scarce. Tutors often need to bring in dozens or even dozens of students, which puts a heavy burden on the tutor’s work. In order to reduce the work pressure of tutors and to manage graduate students in a scientific and standardized manner, this paper has designed a daily information management system for graduate students entering and exiting the dormitory to check in and out, which realizes the management of student attendance, work, and training and is carried out to improve the quality of graduate education. In this paper, based on the actual situation of the student dormitory, we comprehensively analyze user needs, management modes, existing resources, etc. and propose a Web application system divided into fingerprint access control, attendance data manipulation, and B/S architecture. Using design and development ideas for four functional modules on the client and management side and MATLAB simulation, we compare a three-tier and two-tier processing architecture under an average resource allocation scheme in terms of model utility, model power consumption, task delay constraints, and differences in the number of users. The experiment proves that, through the test of LoadRunner software, the experimental result is the average value of multiple tests. After the analysis of the performance test result, the peak number of concurrent users of this system is 1500. The daily information management model designed in this paper for graduate students to enter and exit the dormitory shows that it is stable, easy to operate, and interface-friendly and provides preset functions. It offers a new way for graduate students to manage their daily lives and has high practical value.

The information management applications of medical centers do not adapt well to the needs of neurology consultations. The main problems refer to the structure of the reports that they generate, the limitations they offer to perform data analysis, and the limitations to export the information to different formats than the one managed by the application. Taking into account these problems and others, this work presents an information management system for neurological clinical records. The objective is to facilitate the completion of consultations of the specialist in neurology. The system consists of two applications, a web application and an Android app that communicate through a MongoDB database.

COVID-19 pandemic reshapes the use of technology and innovation in an organization. Organizations are adopting and utilizing technologies in their day-to-day operations. Information Systems offer a wide range of solutions in terms of data management and interconnecting people with the use of a system. Its use was proven to enhance and improve the productivity of an organization in this pandemic. These promising results led the researcher to develop the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Negros Occidental Contact Tracer Information Management System (CTIMS). The CTIMS is a web application that enables DILG Negros Occidental Personnel to manage and facilitate all DILG Hired-Contact Tracers (CT) in the Province of Negros Occidental. The automated system made the data collection easy and error-free, streamlined reporting, and eliminated the time-consuming process of consolidating the Accomplishment Reports (ARs) from the Field and Provincial Offices. The document tracker feature replaced the manual entry in the logbook. It also improved the received and released document reporting. It improved the processes of the CT Task team compared to the manual operations and is expected to increase the productivity, effectivity, and efficiency of DILG Negros Occidental.
