The subject was a 41-year-old woman with a diagnosis of schizoaffective disorder. Subjects showed the symptoms of schizoid that made them less interested in daily activities, less concerned with hygiene and self-care. Assessment methods used are observations, interviews, and psychological tests in the form of WAIS, graphic tests (DAP, BAUM, &HTP), TAT, WWQ and WHODAS questionnaire. Interventions are made to deal with the lack of ability in self-care, using behavior modification therapy with the token economy method. The results showed that Token Economy was effective to improve the subject's ability to care for themselves, they became more motivated to perform basic activities such as self-cleaning.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore the impact of self-care on the prevalence of loneliness among elderly people living in retirement homes and older people living in their homes/communities. Design/methodology/approach The research was conducted through standardized SELSA-L assessment loneliness questionnaires and the Self Care Assessment Worksheet for self-care assessment. The results were processed using the Kruskal–Wallis test. Findings The obtained results have shown that impaired self-care ability affects the prevalence of loneliness among the elderly almost the same in both groups of participants. However, regarding the relationship between the state of health and self-care, only a statistically significant difference in the prevalence of loneliness is found in the case of the participants living in their homes, with the worst health condition affecting the poorer psychological care. Research limitations/implications It is necessary to point out the limitations of the research, primarily sample limitations and the selected design of the study. The sample consisted of two different and relatively small groups of participants which could adversely affect the representativeness of the sample and reduce the possibility of generalising the results. The next limiting factor is the age distribution the authors used in the research, where the age of the participants as a very important variable was collected by age range and not precisely which consequently resulted in inequality in subgroup sizes. Thus, the middle age (75–85) covers up to ten years, which is a huge range at an older age and can mean major differences in functional ability, and can impact the self-care assessment. Practical implications Nurses are indispensable in care for the elderly and they need to promote and encourage self-care of the elderly through health care. Elderly people living in retirement homes should be allowed to participate equally in health care in order to preserve their own autonomy and dignity. However, to benefit those who live in their homes, nurses should be connected to the local community and thus stimulate various forms of preventative (testing blood sugar levels, blood pressure and educating on the importance of preventive examinations) or recreational activities in the environment of elderly people with the goal of preserving their functional abilities. Originality/value The impact of self-care on loneliness was not sufficiently researched, and this paper contributed to understanding the complexity of loneliness phenomena among the elderly with the aim of developing a model of prevention.

Objective: to detect factors related to negative adherence to self-care in individuals with diabetes mellitus. Methods: observational, cross-sectional, analytical, and exploratory study, conducted with individuals diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus and followed-up by the Family Health Strategy. The sample consisted of 250 participants. The Summary of Diabetes Self-Care Activities Questionnaire was used for self-care assessment. Association tests, prevalence ratio and Poisson regression with robust variance were performed in the analysis. Results: negative attitudes related to self-care increased by 21% for single/divorced/widowed, 20% for retired, 54% for those who did not diet, 28% for those who did not practice physical activity, 24% for hypertensive, 30% for those with dyslipidemia, and 44% for those with retinopathy. Hemophilia is a hereditary bleeding disorder due to clotting factors deficiency. Its clinical manifestations including spontaneous and recurrent joints and muscle bleeding. Thus, hemophilia can limit the patients’ daily activities. This study aims to assess the relationship of hemophilia A severity on daily activities and the Hemophilia Activities List (HAL). The research subjects were thirty men with hemophilia A aged 18 years old or older who went to the Hematology-Oncology Clinic of Dr. Moewardi General Hospital during February - September 2020. Standardized seven aspects of routine activities with high-risk for bleeding event were assessed using the HAL questionnaire including lying down/ sitting/ kneeling/ standing, functions of the legs, functions of the arms, use of transportation, self-care, household tasks, leisure activities and sports. Based on the frequency of activity difficulty due to hemophilia A, each average score of HAL aspect was categorized into never (100% - 76%); rarely (75% - 51%), sometimes (50% - 26%), and impossible (25% - 0%). Based on Factor VIII level, hemophilia A severity was categorized into mild, moderate, and severe. Spearman’s correlation test was used for statistical analysis. The result showed significant correlation (p < 0.05) on five aspects, including lying down/ sitting/ kneeling/ standing, functions of the legs, use of transportation, self-care, and household tasks. The aspects of arms functions and leisure sports activities were not significantly correlated (p > 0.05). Nevertheless, these two aspects showed positive sufficient (r = 0.330) and weak (r = 0.177) correlation respectively. Joint and muscle bleeding are an undeniable pathological event in hemophilia patients. Hemophilia A severity positively correlates with the bleeding event frequency in the essential routine musculoskeletal activities. According to the HAL questionnaire, it needs to be a concern for clinicians and patient education to prevent bleeding in any high-risk musculoskeletal activities.

Assessment and management of risk constitute the subject of many researches. Nevertheless, many more specific factors are applicable during the implementation of innovative technological projects. On the article identified risk factors, which have been supplemented, systematized and assigned to the individual risk categories. The risk assessment methods for R&D projects have been analysed, as well as the risk sheets have been developed for the R&D project through the use of dotProject application. Also shown that networking and clustering is a change for fruitful cooperation within difference EU projects, which create trust between business and sciences and reduce the risk.
