As a demand of English learning, eighth grade students need to be able to write a recount text about their personal experiences. For this reason, this study employs a qualitative case study research design to analyse students’ writing of recount text. The data were obtained by collecting students’ writing in two different classes of eight grade junior high school in Bandung, Indonesia during the even semester of academic year 2016/2017. The self-composed recount texts were selected based on different proficiency levels as suggested by the English teacher of the school. For the framework of the text analysis, this study draws on Systemic Functional Linguistic theory, and recount text. Meanwhile, content analysis was employed to explore the analysis of the writing. The results presented that majority of problems on the students’ writings consist of social function and language feature. In terms of language features, there were still several errors in spelling, punctuation and capitalization. In term of Interpersonal metafunction, errors usually occurred in the Finite as there was an overlap of past tense and present tense. As a result, it was found that most of the clauses were written in material process and it still lack of reference in the theme-rheme structure.

<p>This study aimed at identifying the process types that characterize the students’ recount texts, identifying the process types which are dominantly used, and identifying the circumstantial elements that characterize the students’ recount texts. This study applied a descriptive qualitative method with a case study research. The recount texts written by class XI <em>Usaha Perjalanan Wisata</em><em> (UPW)</em> 2 at SMK Wira Harapan were used as the sources of data collection of the study. There were 26 students taken as the subjects of the study. The data of the study which are in the form of sentences and clauses were analyzed based on transitivity system, and the problems experienced by the students in writing the recount texts were discussed through focus group interview in order to determine whether the students made mistakes or errors in their texts. The study discovers that, first, the process types that characterize the students’ recount texts are material process, intensive attributive process, mental process, circumstantial attributive process, verbal process, possessive attributive process, intensive identifying process, existential process, circumstantial identifying process, and behavioral process, which respectively appears 566 times (60.66%), 149 times (15.97%), 100 times (10.72%), 35 times (3.75%), 29 times (3.11%), 21 times (2.25%), 17 times (1.82%), 9 times (0.96%), 4 times (0.43%), and 3 times (0.32%). Second, the process type which is dominantly used in the students’ recount texts is material process with the frequency of occurrence of 565 times (60.82%). The material process was used dominantly since the topics written by the students were related to past activities. Third, the circumstantial elements characterizing the students’ recount texts are location, cause, manner, extent, accompaniment, matter, and role. The results of the focus group interview and the text analysis show that the students made many mistakes and errors in their recount texts, such as the uses of past tense, article, spellings, modal auxiliary, capital letter, plurality, and preposition in a clause. The two aspects leading the deviations are interlingual and intralingual errors.</p><strong></strong><strong></strong><p align="center"><strong> </strong></p>

This research aimed to identify the kinds of error in the use of Past Tense in writing recount text and the dominant error made by the Second Year Students of SMP Unismuh Makassar. This research is Case Study Research. The research was conducted in SMP Unismuh Makassar. The population was the Second Year Students in Academic Year 2013-2014. The researcher took Class B1 which consists of 19 students.The instrument used was writing test. Writing test was used to find out the kinds of errors made by the students in writing recount text. By using this instrument, the researcher analyzed detail information about the errors in the use of Past Tense in writing recount text. The students' errors were classified into four categories based on the kinds of error. Those are the error of omition with 12 errors, error of addition with 31 errors, error of misformation with 166 errors, and error of misordering with 5 errors. The students made the dominant error in misformation category. It can be seen from the percentage result where misformation were 77,57%, then followed error of addition were 14,48%, error of omition was 5,61%, and misordering were only 2,34%. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Second Year Students(Class B1) of SMP Unismuh Makassar had many errors in writing recount text. The students should be given intensive exercises in the use of Past Tense in writing recount text.  It is quite necessary for the Second Year Students and the English Teacher of SMP Unismuh Makassar to be informed about the result of this research, so they can improve their teaching learning process.Keywords: Error Analysis, recount text, Past Tense, error of misformation.

The writer is interested in investigating the error analysis in using past tense in writing recount text a case study at the second year students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Darul Ishlah Ireng Lauq at the academic year 2013/2014. The problem of the present study is limited in on the use of past tense in writing recount text. On the other hand, the general objective of the writing is to analyze the use of past tense in writing recount text. The specific objective is to know the students ability in using the past tense especially in writing recount text.The population of the study includes all students who have been studying at the second year of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Darul Ishlah Ireng Lauq at the academic year 2013/2014.The instrument of data collection is only one test. The test type/ part namely slot test. The test is confined to use the simple past tense. The data is analyzed by descriptive quantitative method. From the result of this analyze, the writer concludes the second year of the students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Darul Ishlah Ireng Lauq at the academic year 2013/ 2014 has difficulty in identifying the past tense. This analyze shown that they make errors in using auxiliary did, errors in using verbs and other errors. Finally not only auxiliary did or verb as the specific study had most errors but also another errors appear without they realize, it happened because the lack of mastery in structure of past tense one of the tense in English.

The aims of this research were identify: 1) The types of code switching, 2) Find out the factors influence the teachers to switch English into Indonesian or the opposite, 3) Analyze the impact of teacher’s code switching for the students. This research was held on SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Ponorogo. The research design was qualitative research especially case study. Research used observation and interview as the data collection technique in this research. To analyze the data the writer transcribing interviewing, scanning material, typing up field notes, coding process, making qualitative narrative, and making interpretation the data. Based on finding, the types of code switching which was used by English teacher at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Ponorogo include tag code switching, inter sentential code switching, and intra sentential code switching with different quantities. The factor influence teachers to conducted switch English to Indonesian such as the students understanding was the big factor and the students characteristic were different, they had not same ability in English. Finally, the researcher proposed suggestion to the teachers to maintain using code switching during teaching and learning English in classroom, but continue to prioritize English as the primary. They could switch Bahasa Indonesia, but when used for certain purposes only.

The purpose of the study is to determine the significant effect of SAVI learning model on mathematic communication skill of the eighth grade students of Karang Dapo State Junior High School in academic year 2016/2017. The study used True Experimental Method with design of control group pretest posttest. The Data analysis techniques used include normality test, homogeneity test and t-test. This research was carried out in class VIII Karang Dapo state Junior High School in academic year 2016/2017. This study was conducted in 5 (five) meetings, including 3 (three) learning meetings, 1 (one) pretest and 1 (one) posttest. 103 students as the members of 4 groups of eighth grade randomly selected to have equal opportunities to be the sample. Based on the results of data analysis with a significant level of α = 0.05 it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of SAVI learning model on the mathematic communication skills of eighth grade students of Karang Dapo State Junior High School in Academic Year in 2016/2017.The average score of students' mathematic communication skills in the experimental class was 25.64 and the control class was 17.02. Abstract During the COVID-19 pandemic, lecturers carry out online learning and this condition also force student to learn independently. One alternative solution given is online-based problem-solving approach. This approach are suitable implemented in the mathematics Informatics course. The Approach challenges students to be able to express every result of thinking, transform information into various forms of representation, as well as the ability to adapt to online learning during this pandemic. This research is case study research that aims to analyse the Communication Skills, Visual thinking, and Adaptability (COVid) of students in the mathematics informatics course through Online-Based Problem-Solving Approach. This course examines combinatorics and pigeon holes principle. This lesson is useful in the context of making software that requires certain calculations and logic. The subjects of this study were second semester students of the 2020/2021 academic year at the Informatics Study Program at Univeritas Cokroaminoto Palopo. Data was collected by using assignments, questionnaires, and interviews to obtain valid data. The results show that only a few students are able to express every result of thinking, transform information into various forms of representation, as well as the ability to adapt to online learning during this pandemic.

The purpose of this study was to ascertain parents' perceptions of their roles in mapping students' English learning achievement and identifying their involvements and strategies for involvement in students' English learning achievement amid the Covid-19 pandemic at a private junior high school in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara province, Indonesia. The study is qualitative in nature and employs a case study design. The questionnaire and interview were made public in this study. Additionally, a descriptive model was utilized to examine the data. The findings suggested that parents agreed on their roles and responsibilities in mapping their children's English learning achievement. Certain parents considered their duties and involvement were critical, even more so during the Covid-19 epidemic, during which children spent most of their time at home. Parents believed that supporting, motivating, and directing their children's roles might aid the school and their children's English learning. Additionally, English teachers are expected to act like parents, monitoring, guiding, and acknowledging their students' assignments. Additionally, parents actively participated in school activities like teacher-parent online sessions to interact and discuss their children's academic success during the Covid-19 pandemic.

This research aims at investigating the errors using simple past tense that is often done by students in the activity of writing sentences in simple past tense on the recount text of class VIII B of junior high school PELITA Ngabang in academic year 2019/2020 Landak Regency. The study uses a qualitative research design. The research was carried out at junior high school PELITA Ngabang on November 22nd, 2019. The research subjects were VIII B amount of 20 students. After analyzing the errors of the 20 past form in the recount texts that were finished by 20 students there were 73 errors. Finally, the authors concluded that the past form errors in the recount text were the types of errors omissions, 19, 17%, type of errors addition 26, 02%, types of errors misformation 27, 39%, types of errors misordering 27, 39%.

Having good grammar is one of important components in the mastery of writing skills. However, grammatical errors still become an important problem in writing, especially for EFL students. Therefore, this study aimed to find out the major types of grammatical errors; and to know the major source of grammatical errors in students’ recount text writing. This study was designed as a descriptive qualitative study. Recount texts written by the eighth-grade students of SMP Pelangi Dharma Nusantara in academic year 2019/2020 were used as the research subjects of this study. The data were identified and analyzed using  theory of error proposed by Dulay et al. (1982) about surface strategy taxonomy and theory of source of grammatical error proposed by Brown (2007)). The findings showed that the major type of grammatical errors was omission, with the total of 171 errors or 37. 33% of the total errors. Meanwhile, the major source of grammatical errors was intralingual transfer which the total result was 248 or 43.43% error. Thus, it can be concluded that the most frequent grammatical errors that happened among the subject was error of omission, while the most common source of errors was intralingual transfer.

This study was aimed at investigating students’ perception on the design of asynchronous online discussion using Schoology. This study was a case study research. The data in this study were collected quantitatively and qualitatively by using observation, questionnaire, and interview guide. The observation was conducted toward the design of asynchronous online discussion implemented by 2 lecturers in ICT and Poetry courses. The questionnaire was administered to one hundred students of English Language Education, Ganesha University of Education who were taught using Schoology in academic year 2017/2018. The interviews were done toward six students. The result of this study showed that 1) the design of the asynchronous online discussion in ICT and Poetry courses was different in terms of flexibility of time, flexibility of place, instruction or guidance, and topic, 2) the students had positive perception on the design of asynchronous online discussion.
