Transformative education has a vision of transforming traditional society into modern society. As nowadays the Indonesian society is an agrarian society with ethics, aesthetics and agrarian personality not yet fully familiar with science and technology along with its development. The task of education is to change the civilization of society, especially in instilling and developing science and technology as well as ethics, aesthetics, and changes into the social system of society. One of the efforts in improving the quality of education is to improve the quality of teachers as the spearhead that interact directly with learners. In the scope of transformative education, teachers tend to rely on specialized specialist labor skills that will survive and compete in the coming century. This article analyzes a popular meme that has spread rapidly among Chinese internet users in the last few years, ‘garlic chives’ ( jiucai), as a self-mockery of the bio-economic subject in contemporary China. This metaphor refers to those ordinary Chinese people who are constantly lured to participate in all kinds of economic activities, but whose investments are destined to be consumed by the establishment. Through a close study of this popular meme and the social conditions from which it arises, this article demonstrates two main features of the Chinese economic subject that supports the state’s economic sovereignty: the thriving of self-sufficient and rule-abiding individuals, and the quality of these individuals as hard working and capable of producing wealth on their own. This article offers a critique of PRC’s post-socialist governmentality, and it provides insights about the relation between the biological and the political in our complicated world order.

In the United Kingdom, the NHS is considered the proudest achievement of modern society and continues to enjoy satisfaction ratings higher than the Royal Family. The NHS and the quality of healthcare is inextricably linked to the British national consciousness and character. Yet the United Kingdom is going through tectonic challenges and changes as we face Brexit and find our new place in the world order. Naturally, this affects the NHS and the people who work for it. While we have four similar yet distinct health systems across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, the rest of this chapter concentrates solely on the English NHS. In this very current chapter, Mark Britnell illustrates the problems that the British healthcare system faces as a result of Brexit. He also looks at the NHS in relation to national identity, economic growth, and quality of care.

The ambiguous process of global changes associated with the growing instability of modern society, the aggravation of the social tension in the world between developed and developing countries, the opposition of the well-being of the chosen minority to disadvantage and poverty of the majority, has highlighted the imperfection of existing institutions and the need to move to a new model of the social world order. On the basis of institutional analysis, the article reveals the inefficiency of the functioning of public institutions, which leads to the reproduction of unstable structural social interactions and the opposition of various societies, groups, individuals. The problem of transforming existing institutions into institutions of inequality turns into a system (structure-forming) and becomes relevant both in fundamental theoretical development and in its practical solution in ensuring the development and enhancement of the vitality of modern society. As a result of the research it was shown that the systemic crisis of modern capitalist society is, first of all, an institutional crisis related to the imperfection and inefficiency of the functioning of its key institutions (family, property and state). They essentially stopped (or cease) in various ways to promote social development and began to turn into institutions of inequality at different levels of the social system and encompass its various structural elements: at the level of the institution of the family it is associated with the beginning of the deformation of the institutional matrix of the relationship between a man and a woman (gender balance between role positions); at the level of the institution of property, it is predetermined by the concentration of power and the distribution of resources in the hands of pseudoelites; at the state level, it is due to the fact that it is being transformed into a supranational corporation, which, depending on the nature of its legitimacy (or illegitimacy), reproduces certain permissible (or unacceptable) limits of social inequality.

The education system and its role in society have also changed. Analysis of public reviews of recent years, as well as national and international programs aimed at compensation of the social consequences of distance learning. The existing stratification of society is changing from an economic to a digital paradigm because of the pandemic and it is impossible to overcome it within the framework of only separate education system. But the simultaneous digital development of the largest possible group of people – students and their parents, their upbringing and development are only possible within the framework of this system. All the social consequences of distance learning during the 2020 pandemic can best be understood in retrospect. There is no doubt that the decline in the quality of education will lead to significant difficulties in offsetting it. Now we can note a significant increase in the inequality among the population in the new area, the area of access to digital technologies and the digital state.
