Social, political and ideological factors that have significantly influenced the formation of the Russian education system are revealed. The historical material shows the functional role of the education system in the social and political system of Russia, which has been transformed in accordance with the interests of the state. The conclusion about the instrumental application of the education system in political management is substantiated.

The most contradictions arise today over the pension system reforming. Each year the states spent significant resources to finance social and economic needs of the population. The positive effect of the nominal growth of the social and economic guarantees in Ukraine leveled nowadays in terms of financial, economic and political instability. Also the processes of depopulation have a very negative impact on the financial viability of the PAYG pension system. Given this, the research aim was to study and discuss tendencies in financial provision of the pension systems in the European countries and Ukraine under globalization. As a result in the process of research the main features of functioning and providing of the pension insurance systems in European countries and Ukraine were examined; the impact of the depopulation processes on the financial provision of the pension systems was determined; problems, related to introduction of the funded system of pension insurance were analyzed; the role of the minimum pension institute in provision of the effective pension system functioning was disclosed and recommendations in relation to optimization of pension insurance and providing сo-operation under globalization were developed.

Using a societal analysis perspective that articulates structural, institutional and cognitive dimensions, this article outlines a model examining the contribution made by the schooling system to the social construction of elites. The model is put to the test by a comparative study of elitist educational pathways and their contrasting organisational modes in France, Belgium and Chile. The article shows that both the education of elites, and the role played by school in providing access to privileged social positions, continue to be marked by the distinctive historical construction of each society and education system, despite cross-cutting trends that are linked to globalisation.

En Procés is a project resulting from the collaboration between Lluís Pasqual and Joan Yago. They invited 11 Catalan playwrights to compose as many short plays on the facts relating to the referendum of October the 1st 2017, based on three principles: 10-minute duration, no set design, and involvement of up to three actors. The project reaffirms the social role of theatre and renews the model of the Teatro de urgencia, capable of recording history and immediate reality. It, however, transcends the context in which it was conceived and is projected into a global dimension, because it reflects universal social, humanitarian, and political principles. The chapter studies the techniques and strategies with which each author has interpreted and recreated the episodes that inspired him/her, emphasizing the close link between politics, society, theatre, and identity.

This paper examines detailed historical material drawn from primary sources to explore the role of accounting practices in the functioning of several key stages of the redistributive economy of the Middle Kingdom, ancient Egypt. First, the paper attends to the role of accounting in securing a regular flow of commodities to the state, in the form of taxation in kind. The historical material suggests clearly that accounting practices played a crucial role in levying and collecting precise tax liabilities, and in monitoring the storing of commodities in state granaries and storehouses. The second level of analysis is concerned with the role of accounting in coordinating the outflow of commodities to consumption units focusing on two examples. The first relates to the role of accounting in the distribution of food provisions to members of the Royal family and palace dependents while on a journey; the second examines the role of accounting in the writing and execution of a series of contracts to promote the mortuary cult of a dead individual. In both cases, the paper argues that the accounting practices were linked strongly to the social, political and economic contexts within which these accounting practices functioned.

Conclusion reemphasises the historicity of the everyday in Ozu’s films, which is not a void entity but characterized by various modern subjects – distinguished in class, gender and generation – with conflicting views, the interaction among which changes throughout history. Temporality (permeation of the past into the present) and spatiality (deviation) are also importantly discussed in relation to the working of Ozu’s everyday, especially in the postwar period when historical experience of wartime presents more complex layer of social critique. The role of the Japanese film industry (namely, Shochiku) is reiterated in terms of establishing Ozu’s everyday realism, which is constantly placed in negotiating relationship with the former’s commercial concerns. Lastly, a question is raised about whether Ozu should be regarded as conservative in representing the social reality, for which the particularity of his everyday realism is suggested as an answer.

The article surveys the theories of national economy regulation introduced by eminent economists of the Stockholm School in the late XIX - early XX centuries and the social situation in Sweden during this period. The article also analyzes the transformation of Swedish economy during XX century from a relatively pure market economy to a modern “Scandinavian socialism”, focuses on the role of government agencies and the influence of the political system on this process. In addition, the paper highlights those features which, according to the author, contributed to Sweden's shift from the raw materials supplier of the leading industrial powers in the late XIX century to a current world leader in technological development.

Abstract In this article I discuss the social roles of Polish sociologists in the period between 1945 and 1989. Sociologists in Poland are assumed to have constituted a heterogeneous group representing various attitudes towards the political system. Over time, they defined their intellectual role in public discourse differently. This picture remains incomplete without consideration of some crucial aspects: whether there were ways in which sociologists neutralized their participation in building the regime; and the techniques used for evasion and “legal criticism” of the system. The analysis is based on my comments of well-known sociologists published in the press and in books. Issues discussed include the function of sociology, the role of sociologists in a socialist country, and the position of sociology among other sciences and political doctrines.

The process of forming values in the education system takes place in the field of freedom of choice by the subject of the value system which they perceive as being their own and corresponding to their worldview and life priorities. Forming personal values is directly or indirectly influenced by the understanding (and awareness) of a person (a child, pupil or student) of the meaning and role of the values in the process of comparing them with historic realities, the present and vision of the perspectives for development. The latter is formed by culture, education and upbringing. The school plays the primary role in forming the value palette in a personality. Without underestimating the physical and mathematical or natural and geographical cycles of subjects, we note that the current values are formed primarily through the cycle of socio-humanities, the leading among which are literature, philosophy and history. This is where examples of the realization of values of various nature are directly considered, and students draw certain conclusions about the moral or immoral behavior of the character in a piece, patriotic or unpatriotic actions of a historical figure, etc. At the same time, forming the values in the education system cannot occur apart from general social processes and trends, which in turn form a demand for a particular education system and probable influences of hereditary structures, collective unconscious and intellectual, moral, emotional and social development. The purpose of the article is to determine the principles of the axiological platform of the personality in the pedagogical process. The results of the research. Self-development of values in the pedagogical process is one of the ways of forming the personality and an important basis for self-realization and self-actualization of the personality in the social environment. Teaching and self-developing the values in the pedagogical process promotes the development of all subjects and objects of educational activity, increases the degree of their spirituality, and it enriches the means of self-expression.
