This article presents the design experience of the “Folk dance as cultural heritage” course, which is offered to undergraduate students from University of Cauca the “massive online course” modality. It shows the main challenges faced in the exercise of the integration of two in-person courses, one practical and one theoretical, and its process of transformation into a MOOC. The course was designed for two academic credits with six hours of dedication per week and is offered as an elective (non-mandatory) class of the Integral Social and Human Formation (FISH) component, through a space in the MOOC Open edX platform. The integration process of the two in-person courses and their transformation into a MOOC, brought with it several challenges related to the adjustment of contents, academic activities and evaluation. This article presents how these challenges were faced in this experience. It is worth mentioning that one of the results obtained in this research is associated with the contribution of the research to the first folk dance course in MOOC modality in Latin America, what makes it an innovative educational proposal that allows the rescue of culture through the adaptation of traditional educational contents.

China's socioeconomic accumulation in the last 30 years has been probably one of the most outstanding global developments and has resulted in massive new challenges for core and periphery countries. The article examines how China's rapid and massive integration to the world market has posed new challenges for countries such as Mexico - and most of Latin America - as a result of China's successful exportoriented industrialization. China's accumulation and global integration process does, however, not only question and challenges the export-possibilities in the periphery, but also the global inability to provide energy in the medium term.

This paper assesses the monetary consequences of the Latin-American integration process. Over the period 1991-2007, we analyze a sample of five Latin-American countries focusing on the feasibility of a monetary union between L.A. economies. To this end, we study the issue of business cycle synchronization with the occurrence of common shocks. First, we assess the international disturbances influence on the domestic business cycles. Second, we analyze the impact of the adoption of different exchange rate regimes on the countries' responses to shocks. .

Evidence from some contemporary ethnic groups suggests that ethnic religion may play a strong role in the lives of second generation members. This is evident in recent studies on Muslims living in Europe. But Europe's immigrant population is not just Muslim in origin. Migratory flows from Latin America, the Philippines and Eastern Europe (i.e. Romania or Ukraine) bring people from Catholic and Christian countries to Europe. And—as in the Italian case—these groups are now the majority among the whole immigrant population. Consequently, the almost exclusive focus on the Islamic component has allowed little investigation of the increase of the Christian-Catholic component. The paper describes and compares the religious paths of immigrants’ youth from Peru, the Philippines and Romania, considering the following questions: How do they interact with/develop their religious identity? Is this generation seeking less visible, less participatory means of contact with the church to better integrate with their peers? Or, on the contrary, do they choose, strategically, to reinforce the Catholic part of their identity in order to succeed better in the integration process in a Catholic country?

This chapter reports on a research project on the homeschooling phenomenon in Mexico and how parents perceive the use of online programs to undertake academic activities with their children. It is in this space that this chapter is located, as it explores the changes to the phenomenon of homeschooling and the impact communication technology and, more specifically, of national and international educational platforms have had on the processes of follow-up and accreditation in Mexico and Latin America. In what follows, this chapter explores the situation in Mexico in particular and Latin America more broadly. It begins by exploring the problem statement and the question guiding this chapter. It then undertakes a literature review, from which it ascertains a theoretical lens and methodology. The data collection methods and the data are then outlined. Then, data are analysed.

A small private online course (SPOC) supports blended learning on a small scale, enabling students to have a more comprehensive and deeper learning experience. It also provides instructors with a flexible and feasible model to better understand the students’ learning needs and to supervise students’ learning behaviors. In this study, we adopted SPOC flipped classroom blended teaching in the physiology course for clinical undergraduate students of Kunming Medical University. Compared with the control group [lecture-based learning (LBL)], the SPOC flipped classroom method significantly increased the scores of students in the preclass test (65.13 ± 12.45 vs. 53.46 ± 8.09, SPOC vs. LBL) and postclass test (80.43 ± 14.29 vs. 69.01 ± 12.81, SPOC vs. LBL), which is induced by students’ increased interest in self-learning. More importantly, the significant difference between the preclass scores of the two groups suggested that the video lecture-based preview is more effective than the textbook-based preview. The study indicated that the SPOC flipped classroom was effective in enhancing the examination scores of students, reflecting an improved learning efficiency and a deeper understanding of the knowledge. In summary, the flipped classroom based on SPOC improves learning outcomes compared with LBL and has a wide application in the learning of basic medical courses.

<p class="BodyA">The idea of a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) has attracted a lot of media attention in the last couple of years. MOOCs have been used mostly as stand-alone online courses without credits. However, some researchers, teachers, colleges, and universities have attempted to utilize MOOCs in blended format in traditional classroom settings. This paper reviews some recent experiments in the context of current trends in MOOCs by examining methodologies utilized in blended MOOCs in a face-to-face environment. This paper further discusses the preliminary findings related to its effectiveness of learning outcomes and its impact on students and instructors in blended MOOCs format. The review of blended MOOCs in classrooms assists to form the emerging consensus on integrating MOOCs in conventional classroom settings, while highlighting potential opportunities and challenges one might face when implementing MOOCs in similar or entirely different contexts.</p>

The  aim  in this  article is  to  discuss  about the formation of the Andean Community, showing its importance to the economic participation in the  Latin  America  integration process.  In  this context,  it  is  emphasized  the  organization  of this block, as country memberships, social, economics and politics situation,  the  most important partners and the relationship between this block  and  Brazil,  since  our  country  possesses an  expressive  participation in this  market,  but nowadays it is harmed with the speeches about the nationalization of the Bolivian gas.

Drawing on the data generated by a survey involving 1,428 international undergraduate students in China, this article analyzed the relationship between the participants’ perceived learning environment and their self-reported engagement in academic activities. The findings revealed the participants’ uneven participation in academic activities. Based on their self-reported levels of student engagement, the participants were categorized into three types: i.e. active engagement (23.2%), lack of engagement (45.8%) and inadequate engagement (31.0%). In line with the previous research findings, this research confirmed a significant relationship between international students’ perceived learning environment and their engagement in academic studies. Suggestions were given for the enhancement of international student education in China. 本研究应用对1428名来华本科留学生的调查数据,探讨了来华留学生的学习投入状态,以及个体因素和学习环境因素对其学习投入的影响。研究发现,就总体而言,来华本科留学生感知的学习环境处于良好状态,他们的学习投入程度则处于一般偏低水平;根据来华本科留学生学习投入情况,可将其学习投入类型分为高投入型、低投入型和欠投入型三类,分别占比23.2%,45.8%,31.0%;个体因素和学习环境因素对来华本科留学生的学习投入程度具有一定的显著影响。为提高来华留学生的学习投入程度,一方面要从来华留学生自身出发,提高学习自觉性,增强学习投入水平;另一方面,要根据来华本科留学生的个体背景采取胡针对性的策略,同时通过营造良好的学习环境来提升来华本科留学生的学习投入水平,帮助其获得更好的在华留学经历。

In a world stressed by a cultural crisis, carachterised by excessive abstraction and virtuality (ex: R.Reich’s Symbolic-analysts or/and R. Florida’s Creatives), observing self built city constitute not an escape but an exploration to change our point of view and find a new path of development. Self building involves at any scale, a practical attitude and return to an psychosomatic interaction among inhabitants and built environment. Focusing in self-building can become a Slowskij’s “estragement” to reactivate different sensibilities, for a new philosophy in contemporary design. Morphological reading of self-built environments has a double importance: for self-built cities themselves, to give response to the need of social cohesion, for a restructuring that traduces these needs into building and transforms the plural individual needs into a collective urban structure; for the enrichment that this reading can give to the architectural community culture, a new panorama where we can search new path to go over the crisis; The paper focuses on the scales that goes from building and construction material scale to urban fabric scale. Starting from the observation of  a brick’s furnace, through the observation of an original constructive system, up to the aggregation of each built organism in the urban fabric it will be possible to read and interpret the formative process and to evaluate, through design experience cases, some new path for the contemporary design that come from this interpretation of self-built: design as a formative process re-activation, artisanal-not authorial sensorial design; References G.
